We needed to raise money as mentioned before to cover the losses, brooks was a an academy player where we get the full sum of money towards the balance of ffp (what ever its called now).

Wilder as also come out and said we needed to raise funds & the player also expressed an intrested in wanting to leave.

People want us to be run like brentford and brighton etc then when it comes to selling the players they moan and say things like we shouldn't sell our own.

Ask yourself why our players player of the year, a blade who has grown up at and loves the club, who has just had a breakthrough season, was happy to leave...

Not bothered if its brought us money in to balance books and we can replace.

If bids have come in for McGuinness, Chong, Ukaki, Zatterstrom and even Cannon then we could have kept him, but they didn’t.

I don’t blame Wilder. This is another knock on of spending money unwisely last summer and now we need money it isn’t surprising that it’s our better young players in which clubs are interested.

What you hope now is that some of the under-performers who are still here buck their ideas up this term.

The problem with our acadamy players is that we don't have a clear plan. Arblaster got his chance when we were short a CM to play with Vinni. When Arblaster got injured Peck got a run. Seriki and Brooks were around the first team for years before playing regularly.

As a club we are not confident about our acadamy players. Too many of them are 20, 21, 22 before they get a real chance. My point is that we stifle their development. Osula has come on leaps and bounds at Newcastle. So while we are a selling club we should be maximising our oppportunities.

What I mean by that is having more u21s in the squad and stop signing, the likes of Rothwell, Chong, Cannon, McGuinness, Shackleton on permanent deals and bring in less loan players. If that is Donovan and Philips then that is enough. One being z potential game changer and one being a CM in the Vinni mould.

Our loanees over the last few years have been a mixed bag. Barry, Clarke, Hjelder, Thomas, etc. MGW, Bindon, Jairo fine all good. I would rather get a few quality Loanees mixed in with acadamy players rather than having squad fillers who are only blocking talent developing and stealing a wage.

As for players we loan out we should be aiming for 1 season loan per player. If they haven't learnt enough or developed enough in that year, we get rid. Baptise surely has to get game time. If Curtis goes on loan this year that will be 3 seasons in a row. He will develop some bit yes but we already have 2 years away from the club the team and the coaches. If we have him in the squad this season he is going to be playing catch up on tactics and connection with team mates.
He was signed due to Keith Andrews. At 19 he had 65 appearances for St Patricks Athletic in the Premier division in Ireland. I hope that he gets an opportunity with us to fullfil his potential. Wilder doesn't do development unless his hand is forced.

Totally agree - our biggest asset is our Academy and don’t think we use it enough. Proof will be in pudding anyway now we on a shoestring budget - would like to think we will see a few more academy products making it onto bench and pitch this year.

I agree but it comes at a price and that price is challenging for automatics and just hoping for playoffs in the immediate future. but given that is where we will be then it isn't a problem. So take Ryan One,, there needs to be a plan for example- we are going to start him in 15 games and use him as a substitute for 30 mins in at least 10 others - then look at his attributes and study which opposition sides he is most likely to be successful in. Set out that plan to him and don't deviate if he has a poor game. Review this in January and if it isn't working loan him out again and try again next season. You need to do that with the three players you most think will make it. The rest need loans.

Who on earth does he mean ?
As far as I know ,
the only one we've removed apart from last season's loans and the ones we've recently sent on loan ,
is Brooks !
Surely he doesn't mean Brooksy ?

His statements get harder to fathom.

There were games last season when Brooks didn’t seem motivated. He didn’t play with a smile. Maybe he was an “energy sapper”

Watch him go this season though.

In an ideal world that would happen, but unfortunately football has become so short sighted, that all that matters are results. A manager will not be given time to develop young players, as owners want return on investment and that only comes by success on the field or selling your best players for profit.

He said its the players that know they wouldnt be here next season.

Riedewald wasnt brought in on loan.....

Our loans have been getting worse and worse recently - which is depressing as we hit a good streak of quality loans whilst we was on the up as a club.... not sure whats happened, the loans seem to have got worse the worse we have got.

It should come with a price if our recruitment was good as we want to have a championship top 2 or 6 team.
But we have players who had a high ceiling but are happy to make up the numbers. Rothwell showed that completely when after a half time rocket from Wilder he buzzed around the pitch in comparison to the rest of his contribution. Their willingness to show for the ball and lead isnt there.

I agree One is raw and needs a plan around game time. Baptiste and maybe Marsh. That could be your three or you could include Zatterstrom.
