tell you what, I’m glad we went into this summer with a plan, we could have looked very stupid otherwise.

He’s was banging on all season about how important pre-season was.28 days to go.
This has resurface from April.
With that context, I can see him getting fucked off and potentially walking. Especially if we get off to a bad start.
Explains why hes always injuredBurrows & Oné are fucking Shackleton ?
In a car park?Burrows & Oné are fucking Shackleton ?
Agreed re 352.A lot of people getting very anxious about this squad rebuild. The reality is that due to the Squad Cost Rules we need to make some sales before we have the headroom to bring in some players (whether or not our owners are willing to invest). We are going to have to be patient and wait for those to happen before you see the shape of the squad for this season.
If they don't happen, we'll be in a mess as we have clear needs to address if we are going to challenge in the top half this season. We need decent money for Peck and Hamer, then Wilder can start wheeling and dealing. It will probably go to the deadline again, so set those expectations.
Given what we are likely going to be left to build with though, I do wonder whether Wilder should revert to 352:
- We technical but unathletic midfielders (especially if Peck leaves) so a 3 in midfield supported by 3 at the back would make us more solid.
- 2 upfront would give us the best chance to see the best from Cannon who we have invested a lot in.
- We have great wingbacks, and you could see Burrows reclaiming his shirt as a wingback, which would be good as he would add much needed creativity, and quality crossing with Hamer gone.
- Just need to sign Souttar and that lad from Fiorentina (lol).
- Quality wingers are going to be too expensive for us, and we won't be first in line for the best creatives avaiable from the PL on loan.
He’s was banging on all season about how important pre-season was.
And then we get riddler on the hill with comments like this.
Bristol City have been hanging around this division seemingly for decades, no matter who they sign they never get anywhere,to the point that even we hammered them when it looked like they were finally in with a chance of getting out.Bristol City signing Dom Ballard this evening, not that we need him, its just crazy how other clubs are able to get deals done, and yet we're in a deja vu of last summer...
Then why did Wilder (Chris) come out with that load of lies in April . Yes to sell season tickets. But this could really backfire on him, never mind the owners or Betis, this will be on him talking bollocks. Which to be fare he has become very good at.I’d say it’s more a lack of takers that would prevent that more than lack of desire from the seller.
It’s quite feasible Chris has been told keep recruitment to a minimum but raise cash. But don’t make it obvious we need it.
Chris has probably agreed but advised we need experience and we may well have to run a small squad susceptible to injuries in terms of the depth of back ups. Taking a look at them:
No impact to first team
Grbic - Turkey, loan/perm.
Curtis - League One/Scottish loan
Ukaki - Overseas loan/perm.
Zatterstrom - Overseas loan/perm.
Impact to first team squad but not team
McGuinness - 3rd choice now, actively recruiting in his area.
Campbell - harsh to put him in this category? Bamford back ups, unreliable fitness.
Burrows - even harsher to put him here but he lost his spot to McCallum. Norrington-Davies as understudy.
Direct impact to first XI
Sydie - first pick. But was behind Arblaster before the latter’s injury who you would assume takes his place. Rothwell experienced back up.
Seriki - first pick and one of our key attacking outlets. There would be a drop off in every way if he left and we were to rely on Shackleton and Doherty. The one we need to keep.
It would certainly weaken some depth but we will have to buy especially with a pessimistic prognosis on Gus.
His plan seems to have been ‘let’s try and sign a load of players we can’t afford’ and not even given a thought to a back up plan.As always it's the beginning of September when we can truly rate the squad but there is a little bit of once bitten about it.
Wilder's confident speel at the end of last season hasn't remotely come to fruition in any way so far. Hopefully, come the second or third league game our squad will look a bit more healthy but at present I understand why some people are leaning more towards staying up than grabbing 8th.
Last season was a tougher group to watch than the time my parents took me to watch Black Lace in Chapel St Leonard’s.And the players we are being linked with don’t add the pace, athleticism or physicality we’re crying out for (except Souttar’s massive head). Could be a tough group to watch again this season.
Seems to be the same rinse and repeat sadlySame old recruitment mistakes… leaving it sooooo late in the window…. Same result… failure…
We are destined to be a nothing club.. used to it now.
Ours is more static than a Mablethorpe caravanWe love a small static midfield
Thing is, he was saying everything that most people were thinking. Problem is that delivering on these things isn't straight forward. Then why did Wilder (Chris) come out with that load of lies in April . Yes to sell season tickets. Ours is more static than a Mablethorpe caravan
Last time I stayed in Mablethorpe our caravan was extremely static but felt a bit rickety at one end. My son who was quite young at the time also got hit in the face from a stray football from miles away.Ours is more static than a Mablethorpe caravan
Did they push pineapple though?Last season was a tougher group to watch than the time my parents took me to watch Black Lace in Chapel St Leonard’s.
I wish they aga didn’t…
Yes, I had to show where on the doll…Did they push pineapple though?
Or alternatively, if only CW would attend a fans' forum...If only we had some half decent local journalists who could really take the club to task.
I and most on here are aware that we had a smaller budget this year and players needed to be sold before purchases. But Wilder gave us his Churchill speech, are we not supposed to believe that this was an agreed plan. He said it would be done early (lies) it will be a full on preseason they wont be like last years (lies). So far we have fetched a kid in to replace a player who other than Hamer provided more assists and goals in the squad. A 35 year old fullback with the pace of a tortoise and an overweight Jairo who struggled last season to do 60 minutes and needs to consider changing his name to Giro as he doesn't work for 33% of his wage .Thing is, he was saying everything that most people were thinking. Problem is that delivering on these things isn't straight forward.
We are 5th August and its only been last week really we have seen some serious news of Gus leaving.
If we had Brooks, Peck, Burrows and Hamer all sold in first week July, the whole summer takes a different turn.
As it is, we know we had to free up around £20-30m, so everything is waiting on other people to do something before we can.
If Wilder in April had said, the squad is fine, we have just been unlucky and we will keep the same group and go again, I think he would be getting peltered.
I don't think I am worried at this point. I think the squad as it is, isn't a bad squad, but it requires some of those players to step up.I and most on here are aware that we had a smaller budget this year and players needed to be sold before purchases. So hear we are waiting on players being sold so we can go and get Phillips and Soutter doesn't that worry you? Both have enough sicknotes to make HR suspicious yet we are looking at splashing the outgoing budget on two more Shackleton's. Shackleton who Wilder (Chris) said was an important player for is this season that's working out well.
Bullshit walks among us we aren't daft but at least the manager should be transparent with us as no one else at the club can be arsed.
