Probably not the superstars but year on year they’re attracting higher caliber players. They all want to be Hollywood stars..

Based on what though?

They are a globally recognised brand with turnover that dwarfs that of most Championship clubs.

By most measures they are bigger than us. The capacity and attendance are probably the only things where they aren’t.
 
Those saying it's between us West Ham and Wrexham are forgetting West Ham are in dire straits money wise. They were £200 million in dept last season. Their finances are in very poor shape. They are going to have to sell lots of players to get them out of trouble. It will depend on how much they have left as to who they can afford to buy and what they can afford to pay them. So maybe they aren't favourites to get him. Maybe.
If it's between us and Wrexham, obviously Wrexham have more clout than we will money wise. It won't matter who his preferred team is, it will be down to money. And I seriously doubt we will get EVEN close to what Wrexham can offer.
I'd love him here but very much doubt he will arrive.
Which is why we have just taken on a 34 year old on a free whose legs have gone!
Expect more of a similar calibre to arrive.

We can afford to keep Harry Soutter he’s on roughly 28k before relegation reductions. The barn sale we’ve conducted will keep that club afloat for another 12 months, we’ve already made about 40-50 million.

I mean more importantly and what kills the whole debate is why would he have his heart set on going to Sheffield United over West Ham who are a bigger club (takes cover) have a far better chance of promotion and can afford to pay him more, and are going to pay us more. Not going to happen is it. He’s not going to turn around to us and say the only club I want to talk to is Sheffield United. Even if we wanted to his fucking agent wouldn’t let him.

Yes he is, although if you want him I’ll bring back up for free the next time I go back down to Leicester.

Think if anyone makes a better offer he will go there but we will be made to wait until the last possible moment and then scramble around and end up with another Marc mcguinnes

Club honours, seasons in the top flight, academy, fanbase, stadium, etc.

Those literally just off the top of my head.

If turning over were a measure of the size of a club you’d also be accepting that Bournemouth, Fulham and Burnley are all bigger than us as well (which cleary they aren’t).

Fact is, teams can only pick 11 players.

So no matter how many they get linked with, there is a limit.

We will make Souttar undisputed first choice centre half. That has to be attractive to him, especially as he had probably his happiest spell under Wilder, before his injury.

For Wrexham, their two main assets seem to be Max Cleworth and Callum Doyle, both centre backs. They are supposed to be linked with a 7.2m bid for a centre back from Fiorentina. In addition they have Coady, Vyner, Hyam, Lewis Brunt and Dan Scar. Whilst there is no law against selling any of those, that gives 8 if they get the Fiorentina lad.

As a proposition we are the better option for the players game time and well-being. It just depends on how easy or difficult Leicester make it.

By all accounts we’ve made a loan to buy bid that has just been knocked back but at least that starts the ball rolling.

It really is the most crucial position for us.

If you cherry pick the measures then you can argue to suit. For what it’s worth I’d consider all of the clubs you’ve listed to be bigger than us at present. There are a lot of measures that back this up.

If we were a PL constant then we’d be bigger than all the above, but at the moment we seem to be playing at being a club and not doing very well at it.

The sales may well keep the club afloat but will you keep within the salary cost rules that limit you to 65% of income in your first season in div one (goes to 50% if you dont come back up) with the likes of Souttar, Choudhury, et al still on the wage bill?

I agree, it really is the most crucial position for us.
I also think he was happy with us and wouldn't be averse to returning.
But it will ALL come down to the financial aspects.
From what the players wants, what we can afford ( by all accounts fuck all) and what Leicester will accept.I
It would be a massive advantage to get him. But I have doubts it will happen.
 
we must have alternatives if we cant get souttar know we need a big commanding centre back but i would be ok if we went back for bindon he showed promise after a shaky start for us

i wouldnt say no chance but we definetly wanted a loan with view to buy for souttar and leicester seem to be wanting the cash having said that i think hes wilders number 1 target in this window so we may sell peck or burrows to fund the deal imo

That's very true. They could also be in a similar position to where Bournemouth find themselves today. Similar size clubs.

Wrexham take a lot of stick for their 'Hollywood approach'.

Similarly Man City take a lot of stick for their 100+ offences.

I have far more respect for the Wrexham owners who have been creative and above board in their approach to running a football club in the 21st century.

(If only the apparent follow up to 'When Saturday Comes' as a musical is a world wide smash hit and the Blades get to own the rights)
