Burrows off ?

The problem with selling Burrows is that he is a goalscorer.

You remove too many of them from your team and you’ll be in bother.

Brooks was a goalscorer.

Whoever comes in can’t be another no goals a season man like Phillips.

The more players who know where the net is the better.
 
My West Ham mate says they only go for Burrows if they sell Diouf. He also says Peck isn’t a priority for them. I still reckon peck goes to Brentford.
 
If we're going to be a more physical team, then offloading good but undersized technical players has to be done.

For me, Burrows and O'Hare sum us up. Technically great on their day, but in 2026 they have no business playing in a top end Championship side.
 
I like Burrows but he's one of our more valuable assets and if McCallum is going to be first choice I wouldn't be against cashing in to strengthen other areas of the pitch

The thing I've noticed about the championship teams defensively the back 3/4 and CDM,s are all physically strong, athletic and are comfortable with doing sensible unambitious difficult passes .
The front 4/5 are whilst athletic/quick and are capable of turning a game with skill and intelligent game play.
The teams that seem to hold on once promoted invest heavily on promotion.
I've said it elsewhere Sheffield united need someone to come in and completely revamp our recruitment team and hopefully get dore over the line and producing the next generation.
I'm not that involved with junior football anymore but hear rumours that the cream of local talent are getting picked up by clubs out of the area.
Club’s such as forest etc regularly have scouts on Sunday mornings watching for young talent.

100% and some!, all the opposing teams last year attacked down Burrows side, knowing full well he was the weakest link......
 



Be interesting to see what formation we play. The first half team from yesterday with One left him wide open, often two on one. That would be tactical suicide in the championship with the left wingers/midfielders we currently have at the club (Hamer/One)

Roger we scored 66 league goals last season and Ohare, Brooks and Burrows got 20 of them....who is replacing those goals ?

I get the sentiment re technical players who often flatter to deceive but I have no confidence whatsoever that the board amd our recruitment team will adequately replace anyone we sell. The first sign of that is the likely replacement of Brokks with Sykes which is a definite downgrade.

Ps glad to see you are confident that we are a top end Championship team 😀

Brooks a goalscorer? Don't make me laugh. Were you at the playoff final? Lad had an odd belter in him (Watford A) but shit, he only scored one more than Sydie last season.
 
I mentioned this on the thread about Peck when he was rumoured to be heading to West Ham and the same will apply to a deal involving Burrows and West Ham or for that matter any of our players and West Ham in the future. ,,, any agreed fee should be the agreed sum ,,,, plus ,,, a Tevez Tax

You think our defence looked better organised or more solid last season after he left, than the season before when we amassed 92 points?

As I said part of the reason Burrows got such flack last season was because there was nothing behind him when he pushed forward.

5 goals and 4 assists in a poor season V 6 goals 1 assist for Andre Brooks.

Anyone showing any sort of positivity re JLT should immediately be carted off to a mental asylum.

He's the absolute epitome of why we've been so bang average over the last few years and it's taken Birmingham less than a season to realise how utterly wank he is and try and offload him.

We get you love Wilder, hell you could even be him judging by your posts on here, but you will never convince any Blade that has eyes in the front of their head that JLT is anything but an absolutely pathetic footballer.

No such thing as a pathetic professional footballer.
They've all come through the most stringent filtering process to get to even lower levels of the game.
To call any pro footballer pathetic is, well....

Last season Burrows' performances would have appeared more impressive if our strikers ran the channels and gave him an outlet.

Both Campbell (in particular) and Bamford were both poor at this. The previous season even Kieffer Moore offered more.
