When they were planning for the new team joining the AFL in Tasmania, which can be freezing in winter, they were looking at under soil heating, which made the Aussie sports news because it's incredibly rare down there. I remember it. They said prem teams cost 5-10k AUD to run it on the smaller-than-AFL soccer pitches, depending on how long they need to run it for to guarantee it'll be playable. AUD:GBP is ~2:1

By the way, they also said they'd have around 75KM of water piping under the soil to keep it thawed. That's for an AFL oval (cricket oval).
