I don’t know what people expect from England. We played well, created some good chances, had a definite penalty not given, showed character to come from behind and ultimately deserved to win. What more can you want?

Unless we destroy the unfashionable no name teams, it’s a massive overreaction and as if we played terrible and were incredibly lucky to get through. Congo looked a solid team with players of lower Premier League/Championship standard. Whilst we should expect to beat them, they aren’t mugs either.

Watched about the first 20 minutes, didn't have it in me to watch the lot, but could see in that period just how composed Cape Verde were and suspected it wouldn't quite be the walkover the pundits had suggested it might be; great effort from Cape Verde

Haaland is a machine. Spends most of his time like a shark, expending little energy until he needs to burst forward or get in front of his man. Tread water and your legs get bitten off.

That first goal is one you show young footballers how to engage your physique and deliver power into a header and the second one is one you dream Bamford scores every game this upcoming season. Right in the inside side netting with the keeper sprawling.

If we get past Mexico - big if - we will have a right job getting past them lot. I doubt France or Argentina will have an easy game against them in the final.

Haaland is doing some vlogs of the tournament on his Youtube channel and he and Sander seem best mates so he's in most of them. Last one they were in a Western style clothes shop in Dallas and Haaland bought some kitmen and other Norweigan staff full sets of clothes, boots and hats. Him and Sander just both seem reyt nice blokes.

Mate I'm just reading some of the comments and am baffled.

He's left us, played consistently for a top half premier league team and is in World Cup quarter final - yet gets sniped at for essentially being good on the ball and retaining possession. Utterly bizarre. Best midfielder we've had in decades and we wasted him.
