I expected us to stagnate, I didn't expect us to be in with a shout of promotion, barring some surprising spending and ambition...but losing our most promising youngster and a key attacking player to Norwich for Fucks Sake... Should we be worried? Just how fast are we falling??
Felt the same, didn't think we'd get promoted next season but thought we'd give it a go and be vying for play-offs. We're gonna have to make a marquee signing to replace Brooks and get fans back on side, a Jack Clarke type player.

Brooks was gradually turning into the footballer we needed. It’s a shame but I am sure we will replace him with Jack Harrison maybe, unless he’s not 30 yet.

Femi will be gone, not a big loss feel it could be Shackletons break out season.
Jack Harrison wouldn't surprise me one bit. Ticks all the boxes for Wilder.

Andre Brooks has departed Bramall Lane for Norwich City after the two clubs agreed a substantial undisclosed fee.

Sheffielder Brooks progressed through the club's famed academy structure after joining aged eight, making his senior debut against Burnley in November 2022.

He played 20 times the following season in the Premier League and then played a major role as United reached the Championship play-off final in May 2025.

Last season he netted six times in 41 appearances in all competitions and also received international recognition after being capped by Jamaica in March 2026.

Brooks departs Bramall Lane after making 96 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

Hmmm....no "thank you" or "wish him all the best", a very cold announcement. Makes me think Brooks wanted out for whatever reason and the club were not particularly happy about it. Think his contract was due to expire next summer so presumably he will have been in contract negotiations right now, so looks like we offered him a packet of crisps and a Mars bar to extend his stay and he's said sod that

Basically, the way I see it is we don't even have enough money to keep our youth players on, not looking good 😐

What I don't get is not the selling but who we sold him to: Norwich for crying out loud!!!

Forget the $20m that has been thrown around, Norwich won't have that kind of money to spend plus there is no way Brooks is going to progress playing for Norwich.

So, whats the REAL story behind this sale?

toledo
They sold Sargent for 25 mill for a start

I always get a bad feeling when it says ‘undisclosed’ … I would say £6 - £8 million should do it ? Possibly a bit higher ?
How is it we always sell with Undisclosed refers to the fee. If he made £50 million i bit it would have been disclosed

Two years left of his deal, but presumably he’s made it clear he’s not signing again. Him and CW didn’t seem to get on. Add it altogether I suppose it makes sense, but it’s not a good shout IMHO.

It’s a poor sale for me; we already looked laboured and athletically weak. And we go on and sell one of our best athletes to a rival.

I'd be shocked to see Shackleton play for 5 minutes.

Even if he wanted out, and let's hope that there some unique circumstantial factors to explain this - other than us being in free fall - even if, his potential is huge. His development in the last 12 months was significant. He's a real promising talent. At the very least you exploit that and start a bidding war, hopefully with Premier League clubs.

Not fucking Norwich. How fucking McCabey do we want to be?!?

Absolute disgrace of a decision, we're going to end up with some 30 year old carthorse or Chong starting the season on the wing.

If it's on wilder then he needs to pull a fucking rabbit out of the hat this season or the rest of his disciples might turn on him.

If it's a board decision then they need to sell up and fuck off sharpish.

Sadly this probably won't be the last this summer and we are going to be in a world of shit this season.

A fast improving player who had a really good season and would have kicked on even more this season.
Norwich have got a gem

They looked shit hot towards the end of last season. His style of play will suit them. They probs can't believe their luck.

This is worse than any McCabe sale. Even he didn't stoop this low

Heard it all before. Save your reactions to selling Ndiaye and Berge for the end of the window. Beattie, end of the window. Naughton and Walker, save it for the end of the window. No I don't think I will.

All evidence points to us being worse off when we sell our best players. Every single time.
Has anyone checked to see if Kevin McCabe is still hiding in the boardroom somewhere?

To be honest, I've been a bit disappointed with his development. He looked a real star when he broke through in the Premier League in a really shit team, but since then hasn't really pushed on.

He still has lots of potential and is one of our better players, so I'm disappointed he's gone still.

I've heard it said numerous times from a decent source, that he's really disinterested in football, which is probably why Wilder doesn't seem to like him.

Put your house on sale. Start a bidding war with Elon musk, the Saudis and China. Got it. Easy. Dunno why I didn't think of that.

Am I the only one who actually is happy with this deal? I don’t think he’s all that great and doesn’t have a lot of end product for a winger at Championship level. If the deal is actually worth 8-10 million like some reports have stated we all would have taken that.

We can use that money to reinvest and bring in better players. Trust me this was a good move. Just wait.
