We do live In the age of the extreme opinion I supposeWill hands down be the biggest wage theif in our entire history.
Welcome back to SheffieldWill hands down be the biggest wage theif in our entire history.
Well S20 blade says it’s the biggest waste of funds in the history of our club so that’s thatWilder must rate his personality very high, and must think he can get some fitness and consistency out of him.
Back him all the way, good to get him in now before pre season.
It's undoubtedly a roll of the dice, but if it goes the way of Coutts and Didsy we'll all be happy.Wilder’s last big project! If he can get him fit to play 35 games or more - he’ll be a hell of a player at this level & will probably help us secure a play off place. Big risk on fitness though.
Mate he just needs to get fit with a pre season.... quality playerRiveting signing. Real quality addition.

Yes that's the one reason I can see for not keeping Jairo. Unfortunately we seem to have picked up an even bigger risk factor! It's a gamble considering we let Jairo go. I'd hope Wilder thinks he can get 90 mins out of him rather than just getting 60 out of Jairo.
West Ham, Ipswich and us last season all said the same. At some point you have to accept he hasn’t had a good season since 2021 and the chance of him recapturing that form diminishes every year.Mate he just needs to get fit with a pre season.... quality player
I’ll tek that as a huge positive then, since you’ve called it so.West Ham, Ipswich and us last season all said the same. At some point you have to accept he hasn’t had a good season since 2021 and the chance of him recapturing that form diminishes every year.
The fact that even the promoted clubs don’t think he’s worth a punt should be a red flag to anyone.

The story of his loan at West Ham:
The midfielder joined the club on loan from Manchester City in January 2024 but endured a deeply frustrating stint plagued by form issues and fitness setbacks. [1, 2]
Injury Details
- The Calf Injury: In May 2024, The London Evening Standard reported that Phillips picked up a calf problem in training after accidentally kicking the sole of a teammate's boot. This injury prematurely ended his season, forcing him to miss West Ham's final matches against Chelsea and Luton Town. [1, 2]
- Earlier Hamstring Strain: Prior to the calf issue, Phillips also spent about two weeks sidelined in April 2024 due to a hamstring strain tweaked during a training session.
The story of his loan at Ipswich..
His time with the Tractor Boys was heavily disrupted by fitness issues, preventing him from stringing together consistent game time. Manager Kieran McKenna and local reports documented several distinct injury setbacks throughout the year: [1, 2, 3]
Injury Timeline at Ipswich Town
Because of these recurring setbacks, Phillips was restricted to just 14 Premier League starts
- September 2024 (Thigh): Just a month into his loan, he missed a match against Southampton due to a minor thigh muscle injury picked up late in training. [1]
- November 2024 (Ankle): He sidelined himself for three consecutive matches while managing a lingering ankle issue. [1, 2]
- February 2025 (Calf): During a 4–1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Phillips was forced off in the 80th minute with a calf problem, which ruled him out of subsequent matches. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- March 2025 (Foot Laceration): Phillips suffered a severe gash on his foot during a game against Nottingham Forest that required more than 20 stitches, keeping him out of training. [1]
- May 2025 (Achilles): Toward the end of the campaign, McKenna confirmed that Phillips suffered an Achilles injury that ended his season early. This ultimately required surgery, keeping him out of action until August 2025. [1, 2, 3]
The story of his loan Sheffield United ..(part 1)
An injury occurred during a chaotic Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday on 22 February 2026. In the 49th minute of that match, Phillips was shown a straight red card for a high boot challenge. During that same "innocuous challenge", he tweaked his knee. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
The details regarding his injury include:
- The Injury: A knee problem that required a minor "clean-up" surgical operation. [1, 2]
- The Recovery: He spent time back at his parent club, Manchester City, for initial assessment and treatment before returning to Sheffield United to finish his rehabilitation. [1, 2]
- Impact on Season: Because the injury coincided with his red-card suspension and subsequent recovery, he was sidelined for the remainder of his loan spell. He ultimately only made three appearances for the Blades during the 2025–26 Championship campaign. [1, 2, 3]
The future is yet to be written but I am sensing a pattern here….
Wilder might be gone by Christmas though.Wilder must rate his personality very high, and must think he can get some fitness and consistency out of him.

Championship player of the season 2027The bits I saw of him, if we can get him fit he’ll be undeniably a good player for us. It’s a big IF though.
Sadly I'm old enough to remember Dean HammondWill hands down be the biggest wage theif in our entire history.
With all that’s unfolded since, it’s easy to forget that DH signing was a big deal, and caused a bit of excitement. I remember being at his debut ( night match?) and texting my mate in the opposite stand ‘ he’s fucking shit’ after 30 minutes from where on he got even worse.Sadly I'm old enough to remember Dean Hammond
Why is he doing the lyceum pantoWilder might be gone by Christmas though.
He'd be more suited to a circus with the goings on at our club! Why is he doing the lyceum panto

IF he signs, we need him to do well and have a great season, but the evidence of recent years is stacked against itI think he will do well with us this season. Needs game time. However unlike quite a few on here, im hoping he does very well (some sad sacks would love it to go wrong just ao that they could say 'i was right') and im happy to see how it plays out if he signs. He isnt coming here for the money United are offering, thats for sure. Time for his career to have a big upturn, with SUFC. Fingers crossed anyway.
