As with the commentary episodes, I really enjoyed this one. Looking forward to part two. Difficult for younger viewers to understand how little United there was on the telly…which is why I loved the Match of the Day video. Also it was the BBC and United stuff would’ve on YTV which added that bit more for me.

I’d not watched “Life with the Blades” before so it was good to see that one. Bentley really was the missing Chuckle brother. In my mind, for all these years, I had a very different person to the voice!

It's all that research. Meant he never got the chance to go for a haircut or shave

It was me who wrote to both the club and YTV suggesting a video like this one and in the end YTV posted a complimentary video to me.
That’s brilliant. It was another one of those videos I would watch over and over again as a kid (having got it as a Christmas present). It helped fill some of the gaps left by the BBC MotD video.

That was the website Deadbat mentioned.

It's a nightmare to navigate but they have an unparalleled collection of Utd games along with (I think) every season review ever realeased by Utd.

They now do DVD or digital download.

Second part of the home video episode with Deadbat and Bladepicker is out where we cover the 90s and 00s

Another belter! I had forgotten I had the 92/93 season in my collection. What’s worse about all this is that was 21 to 25 when I was buying all these videos, at least you lot were kids!

Glad you mentioned the "Golden Goals" collection (John Rawling). That was part of a wider collection featuring other teams (why the box design looked more professional than the Televideo efforts). Didn't stop it being a swizz if you had all the season videos!

The CBS Fox 90-91 video was a high watermark. The production values and mix of commentators (Tyler, Rosenthal, Simon Reed [Oliver's brother]) are top notch. CBS Fox had done the videos for a few years for the clubs, with the extra "Goals Galore" and "Saves Galore" tapes. Pity they stopped when they did. And as Roygbiv says, there are some lines that still stick after all these years - 6s and 11s is also one for me, as is "menace in the best possible sense".

Very much enjoyed your podcast.

Attached is a photo I've just taken of the only video cassette I still own. Unfortunately I've lost the box.

I dont own a video player.

I used to have a recording of goals on Sunday review of the year 1989/90

It was brilliant. blades glory / owls down season.

It was beautiful. All the tunes of the day, with us and Leeds going up, with a definite look leeds bias, and the pigs going down, with the road to hell playing in the background.

The tune for our promotion at leicester was Steve Winwood, back in the High life again.

I'd pay money for someone to show me ghat again.

Love the music of the time being played as a backdrop too

Enjoy!
