Jimmy was never an ever present in any of the seasons he was at the club.
Apparently someone used to walk around the pitch at the Lane with the team line-up on a board carried above their head. My dad said there would be an audible groan from the crowd following him around if Hagan's name wasn't on it.

oh god, that looks so old! Can't remember much of the game, I feel like it was a bit dull? I was sat in the stand to the left. My overriding memory is the tram journey there, being surrounded by Magpies singing "Peter Reid's got a fuckin monkey's heed!" and punching the ceiling of said tram 😂
You were on the same tram as me, then. Ever since then, whenever Peter Reid has been on the telly or the radio, I find myself singing "Peter Reid's got a fuckin' monkey's heed!" out loud, audience or not!

Definitely Mick Speight but Facebookers are claiming various players from Stoke!

I saw Micky walking down cherry st towards the players entrance before a pre season game - think it was a texico cup game or something - I asked him for his autograph which he duly obliged and then asked me if I was going to put it on the shithouse wall 😮

Good bloke and made a strong fist of limited skill

We did play them a week or so after he was sacked in September but I think this game could be April 74, could be wrong though.
Yes, TC was ruled out for the rest of the season after the Birmingham game in March 1974 because he was having a knee operation so Speight wore TC's number 10 shirt at Leeds in April 1974

My first away match, won 1 - 0 with a goal from Woody and I remember getting the Green Un that night and we were top of the First Division, Pigs were bottom of the Second. What a day!

The three blokes I went with fancied a pint outside the ground and so left me (a snotty nosed kid) in a cafe close by with some pop and crisps. I was shitting myself when a load of Everton lads came in hanging round the pinball machine and was really relieved when my fellow Blades came and got me. We were sat in the middle of the Everton lot on the side stand but when Woody smacked the ball home we all jumped up. Had to run the gauntlet getting back to the car but the joy I felt watching that marvelous bunch of players bring 2 points back from Goodison Park will live with me forever.

Any ideas why we played with the orange ball Silent?
