I like Burrows a lot. But it's undeniable that he's had a bad season. He's probably missing Vini Souza who had the ability to cover ground and act a bit like a safety blanket for the full-backs. He really was a cheat code in the Championship.

He tried this v Bristol City and they looked even worse. It's a lazy cop out that people throw this trope out there that they are 'better as wing backs' as a defence for their inability to hold any kind of defensive positioning, physically engage the opponent, and most importantly, take their defensive duties seriously. They’re not full backs - here lies the problem.. they both need to be be playing on the wing further up.. as wingers.. or as wing backs in a 5…
Why Wilder can’t see this is anyone’s guess… they are so much more effective up the pitch
Yeah, thats fair comments. But they are both quality players. Personally i have more issues with the GK and centre half pairings, can't do anything about Cooper getting injured.Been is the big thing here. Both have been found out over the past couple of months and it's noticeable every match teams are targeting them...
Challenge is on them to respond and rise to the challenge....
Absolutely. After his first game, I thought Tanganga was a massive upgrade in Anel. Since then he's been bang average and on some days, not even that.Yeah, thats fair comments. But they are both quality players. Personally i have more issues with the GK and centre half pairings, can't do anything about Cooper getting injured.
Tanganga was a big signing and i was really happy we got him, but he's generally been woeful for us. A few games aside.
McGuinness and Bindon just aren't up to it for me. Its a problem that we need to fix in the summer.
Burrows was awful in the first half. Why does he persistently stop and turn backwards when the ball is on his favoured left peg? Played a suicide ball just before half time and I would have hooked him. To give the lad some credit he upped his game in the second half.
Burrows can’t defend. He lacks the basics. Woeful positioning and unable to stop crosses coming in. There is a reason that other teams target that side. He has other attributes for sure, but as a defender he’s been far from fine.this season we looked more balanced with McCallum, but burrows has been fine. Seriki has been quality
I'm not a fan of Bindon at all. I realise this is the level we're at with signings now, going forwards. I appreciate he's had a good few games and at time has looked a player, perhaps, again its down to Tanganga next to him, not sure, but it just doesn't look stable in that middle.Absolutely. After his first game, I thought Tanganga was a massive upgrade in Anel. Since then he's been bang average and on some days, not even that.
As we saw yesterday McGuiness is a useful backup who can fill in for the odd suspension and couple of Tuesday night games to give others a breather. He's not a top end, certain starter for a top 6 side.
On a similar subject, i liked what Tufty did yesterday. I've been pulling my hair out over the past few weeks as Bindon plays more and more. He's going to be at a top 6 rival next season, so why the hell are we giving him vital game experience.
He's far better going forwards, we know that.Burrows can’t defend. He lacks the basics. Woeful positioning and unable to stop crosses coming in. There is a reason that other teams target that side. He has other attributes for sure, but as a defender he’s been far from fine.
Burrows can be great going forwards but definitely is one of the worst for stopping and tuning back.Burrows is poor defensivly but 1 bad game for seriki is harsh tarring hom with the same brush.
Both usually not bad going forward.
I thought we reverted to a back 4 in the second half.Seriki has looked jaded for a while now. It's his first proper season playing week in, week out so it's expected. Same/similar with Brooks and Peck. They aren't coming off because we have better players unfortunately. Burrows is performing a bit better than the start of the season recently but still a long way off last season. I do think both look better as wing backs and that the second half of the Bristol game showed promise. The same with the centre backs.
Ok fair enough. Any thoughts on my other comments?I like Femi a lot but he isn't "very young". He is 24 at the end of this month. (Burrows is only 3 months older)
Genuine question, soneone must know as it gets posted on here with surprising regularity. So, just for my tiny mind, Is Bladey supposed to be an insult like Woke?
It's an insult it means you aren't allowed to be proud of anyone with a Similar background to yours doing well ( a blades supporter playing or managing the blades )Genuine question, soneone must know as it gets posted on here with surprising regularity.
Tanganga would transformed if he played alongside a big physical Soutts type CB which is what he had at Millwall with CooperYeah, thats fair comments. But they are both quality players. Personally i have more issues with the GK and centre half pairings, can't do anything about Cooper getting injured.

Both are good players but Seriki is still quite young and perhaps a full season is putting too much pressure on him on or our dependency on him is draining.
As for Burrows, class on his day but I do have a hunch that he’s off at the end of the season. Wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t one of Coventry’s first signing - I have absolutely nothing to back this up though!
he stops and turns back because there's sodall ahead of him when Hamer is playing left wing.Burrows can be great going forwards but definitely is one of the worst for stopping and tuning back.
Second half today was much better. Whether that was because he's been told to drive forwards or Chongy helped the situation on that side.
Yeah i get that, he needs to be with a better player to shine. But it would mean him moving to the left side of the pairing, if it was with SouttarTanganga would transformed if he played alongside a big physical Soutts type CB which is what he had at Millwall with Cooper
Thanks, that makes sense. Bit weird but I guess it's based on the view of a small section of fans at the moment that some people still support Wilder and therefore they must be fixated on only accepting a local manager. I guess you could apply it to the view that Wilder only likes local players like Hamer! Though of course he came from UK leagues so doesn't count unlike the excellent AI signings! There are of course many many great value players who have come to the UK from abroad so I guess that may be the angle too. At least I understand it’s a meaningless insult. I'm kind of in the middle if I don't think it applies to me but happy to be one of any of the extremists at either end feel better that way! Bit like politics! Thanks for helping me understand. It's an insult it means you aren't allowed to be proud of anyone with a Similar background to yours doing well ( a blades supporter playing or managing the blades )
There's a simple answer to this, when we play Hamer and O'Hare he doesn't have a natural left sided player in front of him. On our right Brooks is always available but on the left Burrows doesn't always have a forward pass to make. Yesterday Burrows improved when Chong came on and played wide left.Burrows was awful in the first half. Why does he persistently stop and turn backwards when the ball is on his favoured left peg?
