I always thought Mr Benaud sounded like he had a walnut shoved up his arse when he did commentary.

Thanks for clarifying things, if he worked for the prison service he probably had a few dicks up there and not a walnut!

We played Notts County away on Easter Monday IIRC, and won 3-1. I remember we serenaded the County fans with, "You're going down 'cos you're shit!" which I felt was a little unkind at the time - still joined in, though.

I was never a fan of Lou Macari the footballer, he played for Manchester United and always looked to have a sneery little face. Fast forward to what he's done in Hanley and I have nothing but respect for the man. Wonder how many of today's super heroes will end up doing something like this.

The BBC drama Marvellous is worth a watch. It's about a guy , Neil Baldwin, who was Stoke's kitman while Macari was there.

Macari was good to him. True story

He did and he is still going, 80 now.

Driving 'home' the other day and the Washington State penitentiary looms large to the left, just off my exit from the freeway (motorway in real money). It's no more than 5 miles from my house and weird to think of the history of the place and the absolute crazies who've graced the cells there over the years. The Green River killer's still in there, responsible for 49 murders and probably more. Kenneth Bianchi, one of the Hillside Stranglers was an inmate and like I say, some real nasties have spent some time there.

One of my stepsons was a prison guard there, he's a big lad and not one to shy away from an incident but still, rather him than me. My other stepson teaches Accounting there in the evenings and he really enjoys that as it's a real mixed class but they're all making an effort, despite some pretty harrowing reasons for their incarceration.

Anyway, here's a few pics., the first one my wife took from the car, hope you like them.
