Ogbene

Lads, let’s stop skirting round the obvious.

They’re all shit, not just Ogbene. Outside of COH no one seems to be having a consistently good game.
But when several players have left us they seem to do really well and look like different players to when they played for us. Look at Moore this season to name but one.

At some stage you've got to look at the terrible way these players are being coached and asked to play. The tedious, slow, boring way we play, especially at home, is testament to this.

It's crap. The board have a great chance to change it all from Bettis downwards before the January window but will they?

No chance.

I agree with this … poor tactics are to blame for a lot of what we see… but signings have been poor so also double whammy

He’s had a major injury and clearly lost his pace. Another Selles masterstroke.

Not sure I agree with people describing him as a fraud, he’s clearly limited but doesn’t hide and gets around the pitch.
You think Selles wanted him? McGuiness? Chong?
I've got a fence to sell you.

He was just desperate for some championship experience given COH's shitshow. It was that late in the window we didn't really have much choice. Sad state of affairs.

Think he's a really nice bloke, but like pretty much every one of the players recruited over the summer, he's struggled. Also it really worries me that we've recruited players like him, Chong and McGuinness who have all experienced either relegation, back to back relegations, or in Ogbene's case... back to back to back relegations! It creates a bit of a loser mentality and is hard to get out of. I really hope he can improve and play himself into form after his injury troubles.
It hasn't affected Carlton Morris

Great game tonight against Portugal, won 2 0 and Ronaldo sent off 👏
"Sensing opportunities against a shaky Portuguese backline, Chiedozie Ogbene also looked threatening for the hosts and nearly doubled the lead when he cut inside and struck a post with a curling right-foot shot." -from the BBC (unspliced together)

Very good for Ireland last night in the World Cup playoffs. Hold up play was good and he bothered the Czech defence throughout.
Personally I'd prefer him over Campbell, Cannon or Ings to partner Bamford if we are going to play 2 strikers
Did he play rb though 😂

He certainly had a good first half and was decent on the counter, which was how Ireland set up to play, really.

Second half, mostly anonymous, trying to get on the ball down the left and the right, still had some moments though. Reminded me of Adrian Littlejohn (or from this season, Louis Barry), pacey and frightening defenders but in the end the final decision wasn't great.

He probably should've been subbed a little earlier.

Thought he was actually decent in the very organised set up to defend as well, not easy second half when he wasnt seeing the ball much and Ireland were struggling to retain possession

Yeah I agree. Always thought his best position is as a support striker.

I said it before with him that we should be playing him in a 2 up front, when you look at the goals his scored against Rotherham and even the one that he got with us, he has showed composure on the ball and can have a bit of pace about him. Naturally like any recent player he has fitness concerns but will be interesting to see what Ipswich will do if they are promoted, I don't think he is Premier League quality and they paid a hefty £8million to Luton for him on a 4 year deal but potential for another loan if it suits.

I don't think he looked composed on the ball last night, he looked dangerous out wide but seemed to lack the touch to be a real threat, especially as the game went on.

I was actually thinking that i can see why we haven't played him much (not sure if he's had injuries or just not been good enough), but i can also see some attributes which would make him a decent player from the bench

Thats a lot of money to pay for him. Lower end Championship probably suits in a side more accustomed to counter attacking rather than possession

Yeah the fee was a bit inflated but I guess, that's what you get for purchasing internationals in the Championship. He defiantly has had a fair share of injuries and was even sent to us from Ipswich to make a come back from injury which seemed strange that we accepted him from a fellow Championship side. But the goals he scored at Rotherham in that montage shows what he can do at League 1 level.

So you probably are right in saying he is Lower end Championship, the pass by Hamer made the goal for us he scored but other than the cross away at Oxford for our goal he hasn't done much, maybe we just stick to playing Oxford week in week out!

Taking the video in isolation, he seems to have a little bit about him, more so than a couple of other so-called strikers we have on our books with Campbell being utterly bone idle and Cannon having little to no footballing brain or talent.

Being a utility man is both a blessing and a curse for him when, based on that, he could be a half decent centre forward, even in a side as crap as Rotherham but gets shunted about to fill gaps as and when they arise.

It's that strange old conundrum where we were scoring 3 goals a game for so many games , then all of a sudden it's switched to just putting Bamford up there. Yes it did work on occasion but Championship players in particular (we have our own in Burrows) don't like it when attackers run at them, if we went with 2 up top, Bamford and Ogbene/bringing Cannon off the bench or whatever I think we would be more productive. By the time we come around to trying to get our next win it will be nearly 5 weeks since our last, a bit of a shake-up wouldn't go a miss especially as so few games left now.

Don't even think about suggesting we keep him
