I'm all for it. Anything to improve the atmosphere has got to be a good thing. I sometimes try to get the "Sheffield United/Sheffield United" chant going on the Kop. Sometimes it works, most times it just falls on deaf ears, maybe they just don't know the lyrics! 😆

Apart from Leeds and Portsmouth (off the top of my head), almost all home fans are quiet.

Apart from singing "football in a library", the worst sing in the history of football, I don't think away fans seem to make as much noise any more. The last set of fans I remember being really impressed with at Bramall Lane are Blackpool in 2022.

I don't have any interest in music or singing. I have never sung the "Greasy Chip Butty" as I have never bothered to learn it. My son sing it regularly at matches.

Sorry, but you have been unsuccessful on this occasion in your application to join the singing section.

I think it's a great idea. Atmosphere has been dreadful for a while. This might help and kick off a few chants, that gets the whole stadium rocking. Even if it makes opposition fans sing abuse about it, that will spur on others to sing back. I created a similar section for my local Cypriot village team and it's transformed the atmosphere for the better.

Unless you have beer in the stands or an organic Ultras group, the only way you get a good atmosphere at a match is if the game is good. Whether it's a tight affair with plenty of effort on show, a goalfest or a derby game, the majority of fans sing in reaction to what's going on on the pitch.

A singing section wasn't needed in the peak Wilder years when we were on the ascent from League One and we knew we were watching something special.

It ain't rocket science. Good football, most of the time, equals a good atmosphere.

Expecting people to sing for 90 minutes whilst they're watching shit is unrealistic. There's always the argument that the players might find another gear if we're making noise, but it's a chicken and egg situation.

And this is all before you tackle the separate issue of people being glued to their phones at matches.

Tell you what COH and FAB. Here’s an idea which might get me singing again. Think about why we are at the ground. It’s to watch a team. Build one that’s worth watching and cheering on. You know, a team that doesn’t alienate me by being full of half hearted wasters. A team that doesn’t just depress me from the off by being so obviously inadequate for the task of challenging for a promotion place in the division. Stop making stupid decisions resulting in your best support staff leaving. Stop signing shit for ridiculously large amounts on ridiculously long contracts. Stop signing sick notes. Get a proper professional recruitment team in and not the old boys network that apparently now operates at the Lane. If you’re going to retain Wilder, keep a tight rein on him, get rid of the dead wood surrounding him and how about looking like you’re actually fucking interested?

And don’t start me on bloody Cannon.

Fair play to anyone trying to take positive action to improve the atmosphere and for the club for trying to accommodate.

The last time I shared my wider opinion publicly on the idea I just got shed loads of personal abuse, so I’ll stop short of that, it’s another thing off the list of things that apparently stop people from making noise, so fingers crossed it contributes to working.
Snowflake.

Shoutbox fiend

Well good luck to them, hopefully it works

Ideally that end of the Kop and the G block end will bounce off each other, and the middle joins in with either

But if we're honest, getting everyone at the back stood up should have already done enough for the Kop - but it's been very flat. The season has played a part, but it is the case

I'm just not sure the will and the energy is there anymore. Would be nice to be proven wrong
I remember you actively trying to get a singing section sorted for the BL Upper a couple of seasons ago. Didn't really work then, not sure it'll work now. Very few regular attending supporters want to sit/stand in that area of the ground - or they already would be doing so. Anything to improve the atmosphere is good in my book though. Never be like it was in the 70s and 80s though - but I suppose we have Sheffield Wednesday to thank for that, with the forced introduction of all seater stadiums.

There's a big difference it could make.
There's two areas at the back of the kop that sing most, one towards John Street side (behind me ) and the other further across back of the kop more SS side. Don't know where exactly.

Often these are singing different things, and both fizzle out pretty soon. All the singers together would help this.

And if course all the grumpy sods who complain there isn't enough, could join in.
Last few seasons at the back of gangway C. Some determined lads up there

We could do with some young 'ultras' with a couple of drums, a megaphone, banners and flags, with a bit of scaffolding at the front of the kop so some nipper could tell us what to sing, would do well.

Maybe scaff' it up in front of the South stand too, so some middle aged organiser can use his megaphone to arrange the HT toilet queues and some nicely orchestrated opening of Werthers originals and hip flasks.

Scottish football have some excellent 'ultra' groups across all the leagues, and there's an interesting programme available on it on BBC iPlayer if anyone is interested.

Europe are light years ahead of us in this respect.
Nailed it mate. Assuming you’re being ironic ?
