The Portsmouth commentators mentioned rumours about O'Hare being sold for £2 million in the summer????
2 million there having a laff ,
what price would you put on O Hare ????

Brewster 20 mill
Cannon 10 mill

I would say O Hare has got to be worth 10 mill at least !!

Got to stick as religiously as possible to what we all know is the best XI:

Cooper
Seriki Tanganga Bindon xxxxx
Peck Phillips
Brooks O’Hare Hamer
Bamford

Not seen Hjelde, don’t know if Hoever plays well there, so difficult to say who takes left back while McCallum is injured. Burrows is the incumbent but he’s hardly inspiring confidence this season.

No more vanity selections. Unless injured, Cannon is sub. That’s it. Stop trying to justify spending 10m on him, Chris. We’re far better with O’Hare.

Even the Pompey commentators were taking the piss if bus spending £10 million on Cannon at one point yesterday!

O'Hare has upped his game considerably this year and has taken responsibility rather than just being an enabler for everyone else.

He's returning the sort of goals and assists we were hoping for last season as a more advanced midfielder who throughout his career probably should have scored more goals than he has done, even before we signed him.

He's always run his nuts off and worked hard for the team but is now getting the ticks next to his name more regularly to go with it.
Maybe it coincides with him getting over his bad injuries.

Good technical player, gives a shit, superb athlete - especially in terms of distance covered, great determination, never hides, always wants the ball.

If he was quicker (he is legitimately slow) I think he's played 100+ PL games.

Also, seems like a good, well liked team mate and a goog bloke

He's only got ickle legs....takes 3 strides to the average players one! 🤣

Player of the season for sure. Peck/Seriki/Brooks a good battle for young player of the season.

O'Hare is fulfilling his potential and would do a decent job in the Prem for a smaller/poorer club.

I recall when COH first signed for us that there was a vocal minority who complained about his 'inability' to speak well, as if this had any bearing on his ability as a player. Callum adds something special to our play and works his gonads off on a regular basis. I hope we manage to keep him at the club, although our past eagerness to sell our better players doesn't fill me with optimism.

I thought he came across a really sound and humble lad when he first signed and they were doing that social media focus - sharing what he did on holiday and what not.

Haha, have you heard some of our lot speak, like something out of “The hills have eyes”. I like him, gives all and when he is on,a joy to watch. 1 problem,he gets knocked off the ball like a 6 year old at a barbecue.

Wasn’t at his best against the pork, but his work rate alone is so valuable to the rest of the team. He puts defenders under so much pressure and forces lots of errors. Leads from the front with Brooks, Bamford & Hamer to press opposition to eventually surrender the ball.

We’re a significantly better team with O’Hare in it than without

Has to be one of the best free transfers in recent years for us! If we do go up via the play offs, would be interesting to see how he gets on in the Premier league, as my work colleague (who is a Coventry fan) said he is great in the championship but lacks qualities to succeed in the Prem.

We've surely seen enough to make up our own minds?

I'd be surprised if we could get a good enough upgrade (to replace him) if we got promoted. His end product isn't consistently at a Premier League level, but his work rate and pressing clearly are. Awareness, intelligence etc are good as well, most likely transferable to the top flight.

I'd suggest it's more likely he plays in the Prem with a different team mind you... Getting 6th place AND winning the playoffs just feels a bit too unlikely to me 😄 A promoted team might be willing to spend £10m-15m on an excellent Championship presser and trouble maker.

A man can dream that it will be with us!

I think the biggest thing to let him down is his final product, and in the prem, he won't get as many chances as he does with us which can see people being put off. His creativity though is outstanding, and he sees passes not even we can see on tele and still need to re-wind to actually see what he visualises on the pitch!

He falls over too much which is a problem. However, when he plays, our press is way better and his energy levels seem to spur others on. Without him, we never seem to get that intensity that puts the opposition under pressure high up the pitch. I’d start him every game

The problem is that if the opposition is technically capable, O'Hare looks like a puppy chasing a ball around on a wooden floor. He was completely ineffectual against Middlesbrough as their one- and two-touch passing was spot on.

I have no idea whether Coventry's midfield is as good as Boro's (I don't think it is, they flooded the middle of the park when they won recently to nullify Boro's threat) but I'd almost not be surprised to see us start with two strikers and look to turn the Coventry centre halves. That said, O'Hare's energy around Onyeka (who's a dirty bastard) and Grimes (who's not particularly quick) might unsettle them.

I still wonder how we’d play if you swapped Hamer & O’Hare around. O’Hare gets more room on the flank and will cover the left back better, Hamer gets more sight of goal and can play in the pocket in the middle.

Feels so obvious I must be missing something.

To be fair he was unlucky with the shot that came off the post, I am not sure if the keeper got to it or not but it wasn't far off being a great finish.

I think having O'Hare in the middle allows him to press in more areas, as he is often pressing the back line but can also move either side too. Having him on the left flank might prevent him pressing key positions on the right.

I know what you mean though. It seems odd that we never see Hamer in the middle, and I think we would score even more if he did play there.

The heat map above (#75) confirms exactly your first paragraph.
Perhaps if we had a proper left-winger (and COH was unavailable), then we could play Hamer in the middle.

It's little wounder he spent a bit of time on the deck on Sunday. He was hoofed up in the air every time they could get near him. He got no protection from an ineffectual ref all game.
