Sky Sports understands Joe Garner has turned down the offer of a new deal at Preston North End. Garner currently has just one year left on his contract and news of his decision is sure to alert a host of clubs eager to secure his services.

Now obviously a superb player at this level, and would be an ideal signing IMO, my only obvious fear is him being out of reach. Surely Championship clubs will be in for him, as I fail to see why he would turn down PNE to go to a club which finished lower than PNE last season. Great player though, one to watch for sure.

No chance whatsoever.

He will have rejected the contract to alert Championship clubs. Not clubs that flirted with relegation in the same division as you.

Would be a great signing but, we have more chance of signing John Brayford than Joe Garner

Agreed, problem is who DO we have a chance with that is guaranteed to score goals?? He is a very good League 1/Champ striker, and out of our reach (we seem to agree on that) so who the hell can we sign?

I'm not so sure we would. Besides his wondergoal against Rotherham, Garner hasn't impressed me. Squandered how many chances against us?

Maybe he wasn't great against Blades, problem we face is he scored 20+ goals last season. Just depends who comes in for him I suppose, if you were Championship he's definitely worth a gamble.

Jordan Rhodes didn't score against us in 3 games the season he got 30odd goals.. 3 games plus extra time.

Our Harry has big pockets which a lot of strikers find themselves in

You aren't getting what I'm trying to say. Garner missed so many good chances that you would expect a top goal scorer to bag. If we're going to be relying on a striker to often create something out of nothing then you would expect him at the very least to score the type of chances he had against us.

I somewhat have the feeling that Garner may turn out to be a bit of a one season wonder. Similar to Madden. Garner hasn't had a truly productive season apart from last season. I'd rather we found someone a bit more proven to score.

He's also a Preston fan so it's certain he is angling for a move to Champ

Scored goals for Carlisle Scunthorpe and Preston. Hot and cold throughout his career after being a fairly highly rated youngster. Still, 26 years old and if we somehow managed to sign him he'd be a great signing. Preston's promotion hopes are pivotal to him staying. 25-30 in this league next year if he stays in it.
