I’m more worried about the performance, I’d still fancy us to lose even if the wank decisions were going in our favour.
 
We have vastly upped our game and looked competitive against a Sarfampton side that gave Liverpool a run for their money recently.

That game tonite could've been 3-2 to us.

Defensively we need work. Onwards and upwards

I'd like to see the Soumare one again. He screwed up his control and it ended 50 50. I think Soumare actually got the ball and momentum of both players resulted in the clash of legs. Not intentional, but perhaps rash and dangerous. Could have given a yellow but couldn't wait to give red. Never considered anything else. The studs up challenge on McCallum was similar. Not even a yellow. And Wiki clearly states Ref is an avid Charlton fan. How can that happen?

Its 50/50 in real time, what's done it is hi stood are up ankle high snd the lads standing leg. It wasn't intentional but you could say reckless or out of control at a push? Could have been a yellow but referee well words not needed.
 
My hatred of referees is now so all consuming I don’t have any perspective! I cannot stand their pettiness, their inconsistency, and most of all their arrogance in the way they talk to players. The fact that they don’t have to answer for their performance means there is no incentive for them to improve. Their organization rallies round them, the ex refs back every decision irrespective how bad or inconsistent it is. Occasionally they issue an apology when Pep or Slott complain loud enough (never for anyone else).
After the match the ref today did the usual teacher talking to kids of waving away any discussion.

Hes from West Midlands, probably a Birmingham fan, wolves or Coventry at a push.

Either way hes a massive dickhead and the performance hes given today should be thoroughly reviewed and he should be put through questioning. I reslly hope the club/Wilder report him.
 
I've said it before but there ought to be a truly independent panel that scrutinises referees - not an old boys' club assessed by more old boys.

They ought to be called to justify their decisions and if required, apologise publicly for them.

I understand it's a tough gig but referees should enter the profession aware of that.

Their punishment for being crap at the moment is demotion to officiate their next game in the league below usually. How's that a punishment for making too many serious "errors" in a match?

Ive said this for years now, should be an independent panel reviewing them if the score is below a certain mark, pulled in for questioning on certain points. Maybe interviews after game with monitors showing like they do players & coaches.

My biggest suggestion is that referee and the 2 linesmen are a team that have to stay together for the full season, pay and league goes on performance based reviews. Put more onus back on linesmen to help referee then as well. A view possible with an independent member at the match watching the referees performance and has the power to replace(sub) them with the 4th offical.

Might be daft, probsbly is but something has to give with the standard of officiating amd how basically they can have a shit game ruin clubs seasons with 1 game and get off Scott free, they are not held accountable and its teams and players that suffer.

Soumares was a blatant red
But the ref was still biased and they were piss poor despite a 2 man advantage
Be amazed if they stay up but we may be below them pretty soon as no tanganga for next few games

But they are back after 1 game, even if they apply that. It should be longer and say you are down there now until you start hitting a constant mark of 7/8 out of 10, with I dno 5/10 games being the absolute minimum.

There more to refereeing than deciding that single decision though.
The fact he never considered a card for the Charlton player leaving his foot in on the 50-50 with McCallum - which only luck stopped from being a serious injury - sets the level for what comes next. He could see he wasn’t going to win the ball, and put his foot in on McCallum where he knew it could cause injury, but luckily for McCallum it didn’t.
Soumare can see he is going to win the ball, and his opponent goes for it, and Soumare’s follow-through injures him. They’re either both dangerous play, or neither of them are. The fact that one results in an injury and one doesn’t is down to one player being fortunate.
Tanganga’s foul comes off the back of the ref doing a dreadful job because the ref’s performance has brought animosity and anger into the match, which would not have been there but for his ineptitude.

Instead we get Dermot Gallagher justifying every decision on tv, another one of the ‘last picked in the playground’ brigade.
 
Rather annoying from the ref.

I'm finding it hard to work out how a Charlton player can leave his foot in on McCallum and just get a talking to yet Soumaré goes in on a 50/50 and gets a red card, yes it was a bad touch, the Charton player just got to it first, it was never reckless and the force wasn't excessive my description would be clumsy Soumaré isn't the type to show intent to injure a player.

Tanganga had words with the ref which as captain he is entitled to do quite obvious the ref took exception to what was said, the trouble is going for a header with arms all over the shop gives the ref the opportunity to show who is running the game and he couldn't wait to do so, he was in that much of a rush to get the red card out that he dropped it.

I think both red cards were harsh, the assault on McCallum was just as bad but didn't even warrant more than a talking to .......... realy? I'd have given yellows for all three of those challenges. Not sure what happened with Bindon but it looks like our next few games will be with the horror CB partnership of Mee and McGuiness, we will do very well to get anything from those games. 😡 😡 😡 😡
