What is the BEST goal you’ve seen us score live and the BEST goal you’ve seen us concede live?

Brown v Pigs or Jags v Leeds - toss up - I will go for Brownie.

Best goal seen us concede - probably Hopkin at Wembley (sadly)

Lys Mousett versus the big Mancs.
Eric Cantona for the big Mancs in t’cup

Browny v S6 or or Jags v Leeds strikes for us. A mention for Pesky v Forest too in the PO semi final. I thought my lads head would explode that night.

Against us. Cantona's chip. Every time. We were in the presence of greatness that day, and we all knew it. Love the bloke.

Wow. Don't remember that!! Was that before or after he played for us?
It was after he’d been on loan with us (2002/3) but before he signed for us in 2004.

Had a shortish loan spell with West Ham in between.

Best I've seen us score - Keith Treacy vs Leicester

Best I've seen us concede - probably Tudgay in the derby or Wade Elliott in the play off final
All 3 of those goals sit firmly in my memory bank. Good shouts.

I remember Tom Hefferman scoring for us at selhust park from 30 yards. The Legendary Alan Woodward would have been proud of it. We won 2-1, I think. Before the game, we had a tour of Wembley Stadium with the Headquarters Branch. Led by Alan Wright, his Brother, and Dave, who sadly passed away not so long ago, if I remember correctly.

My favourite 3 for us:

Evans v Middlesbrough
Brown v Ipswich (cup)
Whitehouse v West Ham

Wasn’t at the game for Brownies v the pigs 😟

Mel Eves against Leeds.
Wigley against Blackburn.

At the risk of assassination...Sterlands free kick, said to my brother as soon as he hit it it was going in....

I wasn’t there live but definitely best goal scored against us in my lifetime. Even watching now it’s a dead ball miles out and the thumps it past Tracey, who was a bloody good keeper.

Either Mike Lake away at Southampton 1992 to make it 2-4 or Tony Currie in 1975 v West Ham to make it 3-2 (A quality goal from a quality player).

I seem to remember Le Tissier scoring a very good goal in the Mike Lake match to make it 1-0 to Saints.

Lake's wonder goal was our 2nd, he did score the 4th but his shot was deflected and wrongfooted Tim Flowers

Favourite was Brownie, but Zico lake scored another belter the week after the Southampton game at home.
As for limbs in the kop, our game v derby in the season we got our first win v Forest 3 2. Iirc is was a rescheduled game on the 4th round of the fa cup week. We battered them all game but hodges? Slotted one home in the last 10mins, I think most of us had settled for a draw.

League cup game v spuds, Gaza had loads of’fat geordie bastard’ but then scored a good individual goal and on hearing us clap him turned round and showed us his bellies. Cantona for me.

Basham ‘Bashams’ arriving’ V dirty. Obviously not a worldy, but this will be hard to beat for what it meant, both to him and us as a team. M Brown V pigs, a very close second. Not bothered by any scored against us.

Le Tissier reminded me of an upgraded version of Glyn Hodges. Mercurial talent, but both left me feeling that they could have done even greater things.

Perhaps that was just their languid style, but both are players I used to love to watch.

The penalty record of Le Tissier (47/48) is unbelievable, particularly when you consider the one Crossley saved he was a long way off his line and should have been retaken.

Gil Reece '71 v Brum, kop end..beat 4 or 5,and turned between the last 2 and smashed it past the keeper.
Browny v Wendy,Pesch v Forest,Tony Field v Ipswich amd TC v West Ham.

that derby game was amazing. i think we were the only teams playing that day as we had both been knocked out of the cup - good news as it turned out (luton?). you say 10 minutes but for me it seemed the last kick of the game. we battered them all second half only for shilton to play a blinder. i'd given up and then hodges - bang! he nearly broke his neck celebrating. great day.

My memory is not what it was but I remember a night match where I think Gilligan scored a great free kick then got sent off? Early nineties?

I took a girl to that game, her first game, didn’t understand why I went before that game. She didn’t come again but…

Thanks Silent...was always a bit of needle when we played them back then stemming from when we spoiled their promotion party.

Cantona, best player I’ve ever seen live, such poise and charisma.

I was there with my son when ndaiye scored the solo goal v Blackburn at the lane.
I remember fjortoft smashing in off the bar for Swindon against the blades in the 90s.
