ITS NEVER HIS FAULT

Coaching your centre backs to hoof the ball down the channel for two strikers who played like they were wearing lead boots - Not Chris’s fault

Bad line up - Not Chris’s fault

Best player on the bench -Not Chris’s fault

Dropping our best CB the past 2 games (bindon) for one who has been injured all week - Not Chris’s fault

Taking the best CM on the pitch off Soumare for your son in law who should be playing in the U21’s to build up fitness Not Chris’s fault

Then he has the cheek to chuck mcguiness under the bus when he was legged over for the goal

You played him Chris when he was half fit

I like wilder but not ham sandwhich wilder if he carries on like this we may aswell put Paul Mcsheffrey in charge

No Excuses though bar the stomach bug that he’s been blaming all week

Some of what he said was right but you don't throw players under the bus in public like that. Say it to the players in private by all means.

The problem for me is that he throws players under the bus who maybe don’t deserve it

Mcguiness was poor but that goal is not his fault

He won’t blame Hamer for losing the ball and causing the counter attack

Or Bamford or Campbell for barely pressing

It’s performative and it’s boring when you know he’s talking shite

Leicester 2 - 0 Blades in 2020 in the PL.
Same, post match, 'nothing to do with me' presser when he openly criticised the team. The start of that teams downfall.

It's what he does. Laps it up and part of it when we win and a total deflective attitude change when we don't.

The best managers manage and check their emotions, and praise in public but criticise in private.

There We Are Then..🐷

He didnt throw any players under the bus. What utter drivel. He said that collectively it was far from being good enough which was spot on and exactly what most fans wanted to hear from him post match. What would you want him to say, say hes a tad disappointed and that we looked good as the latter would be a complete lie. I dont want to hear total bull like Selles and going further back Adkins used to come out with. Tell it like it is. They are big boys. Its the world we live in now that people are desperate to find offence on behalf of others.

If you went out, had a meal and it was utter shit, service rubbish, and then they tried to over charge you at the end, i hope you wouldnt complain or make your feelings known to the restaurant manager. Wouldnt want to throw his chef and frontline table waiting staff 'under the bus' now would we... dear me.

He was right. He's praised the players during the good run and he's criticised them after an unacceptable performance. I don't really see the issue.

There isnt one. Its just some on here being either too precious with their emotions about it, or they have an intense dislike for CW which seems to make them irrational with their comments at times. By all means dislike someone if thats what you want to do, but dont make stuff up and start criticising people for doing nothing but telling the truth. Some on here (those with an agenda) are just a little bit sad.

Not quite his most critical roasting of players but walks a fine line between telling it as it is and his own responsibility.
Last nights post match wasn't as harsh as previous but he has talked recently of the wins being a team effort, the players and the coaching staff.
Losses tend to be just playing staff however, in his own phrase they all have to " own it".

in his own phrase they all have to " own it".

Also in his own phrase, right at the end of the Sky interview, “I apologise”.

I’m not in either pro or anti Widler camps. Can’t be arsed with it. But if he’s being slagged for what he said, folk should at least acknowledge what he said.

To be fair I was also mardy last night and if I have to choose between hoofing the ball out over playing it out from the back and loosing it I'll take the former. Our outfield don't disperse quick enough for Cooper to have any options unfortunately though.

Yep i accept the correction , he did say that .
Fair point

Most of your posts seem to be anti CW and quite negative 🤔

Nothing in that was throwing anyone under the bus. He was right, it wasn’t good enough.

And if the players don’t like a few home truths then they should duck off somewhere else

I just listened to his post game recap and, tbh, what he said was true. Nothing wrong with his comments.

The players need to take responsibility for that second half performance and the manager take overall responsibility.

We should have expected WBA to come out more determined after HT but we have a tendancy not to do the same, games earlier in the season has shown that.

The are certainly performance expectations for each player and each players performance scales up to a team performance. For some reason, we don't play 90 minutes except on very few occasions.

These players are getting paid handsomely and, as in business, if you don't perform you get written up on your individual performance appraisal.

Its pretty obvious that we screwed up hugely with some of the signatures later in the JTW.

But, these type of performances, ala second half, we have seen so many times before.

Post of the day👍

He’s got about 5 players he can rely on to put a shift in week in week out come what may.

5 players that regardless of it’s a sell out at the lane or a horrible Tuesday night in Watford will turn up.

The rest are just clueless, lazy, modern day footballers who want the ball when attacking and there’s no pressure but don’t want to know in any other department.

Hats off to him for calling them out and setting the expectations moving forward …

As an experienced manager I'm a great believer in the mantra "public praise and private criticism"

You obviously aren't but personally I can't see how tearing anyone apart in public is going to improve their performance.

I think last night was about Wilder telling the board that he wants new players despite having said earlier in the week "everything is for the benefit of the football club" and "if we have to go with what we've got, then that's what we'll do".

I'm guessing (and it is a guess) that in the recent meetings the board have said something along the lines of "if we look like pushing on in January we'll look to support you but if we're not looking like making a serious push then we'll wait until summer and have a full review then"

As I said it's a guess, but it would make perfect sense to me and the last two games haven't looked like a team that's seriously capable of pushing on so I conclude that the thread title is pretty much on the money.

McGuiness was fouled for the second goal.

If a defender trips a forward like that in the box it's going to be a penalty every time and the same rules should apply in reverse.

I though it was a foul, the tv pundits thought it was a foul, but Wilder chose to say "there was no question of it being a foul, he should have done better"

If that's not throwing a player under the bus then I don't know what is.

Wilder won't be too unhappy about last night in the context of the recent good run

He's mainly playing psychological games with his interview

He's trying to snap the players out of the mentality of being a bottom end relegation battling team and into the mentality of being a top end team, where a bad performance even after a good run isn't excusable

Might also be aimed at the owners with January in mind
