McCabe

Choose what the out come of all of this speculation about what has or hasn't happened in the past, I think we can safely say football in general is now a totally different ball game to what it was when Mr McCabe took over.
The days of local business people with a bit of spare cash running a successful Football club at the top have long gone and it is slowly creeping down the leagues, even the importance of local fans attending a match is fast fading, how can even 20/30,000 crowds compare to a world wide TV audience ?
It's all about marketing and big business now, and all we can hope is that in the future we will look back on the 2013/14 season as the season that our good times began......

A disaffected player in the team and dressing room is not what Clough will be looking for or will endure.
If his head has been turned then we should fight tooth and nail to get the best price northwards of 2m and let him go.
Add ons can make the final price more palatable and Clough can get on with building a team in his image.

He wont have the luxury of being disaffected ..... if he doesn't perform his career with shrivel up and die. its not like he's an established "name" that can afford to chuck teddy out and wait out his contract. If he pissed off NC and spent 10 months in the reserves then he would attract nobody next summer !!

If Maguire goes for anything less than £3 million then the directors of our once proud club will have failed in their duties - We are now in a position to say to young Harry "We will get promotion this year and then make a decision"
Bookies favourites for promotion everything is going for us - let Nigel Clough do his business and watch us go
Sheffield United have a golden opportunity this year - everything is in place - a couple of extra striker signings and we're nearly there .......don't **** it up Blades

Well ..... a couple of decent strikers, a midfield powerhouse to replace Doyle a RB and a CH and I agree with you .....

I was thinking exactky the same yesterday

Whatever fee Harry goes for I hope we insist on a sell-on clause. Bournemouth will get £6m plus if/when Lallana goes to Liverpool.

Not that I think Harry is in that class, but it can be a negotiating tool right at the last stage. When seeking a deal buying managers/ Chief Execs have their mind on the signing less than the future down the line. Amazingly, despite all the salaries KM has dished out to various Chief Execs, we never seem to think of the sell-on clause.

Before you consign Harry to a future of upper division mediocrity, look at the career of Lescott, currently at Manchester City. Bought for a mind boggling £20million plus, he'll probably have another massively rewarding transfer to look forward to, so any talk of sell-on clauses should be integral when it comes to united insisting upon a healthy percentage of any future sale

well explain why southampton , are selling everything but the kitchen sink ,, wwe do not have unlimited funds so we have to wheel and deal, , such as Jagielka , no way would we have sold him had we equalised against Wigan and stayed up, but any club that gets relegated has to cut its cloth
Rotherhams just gone up , promised to launch a prem assault then sold Pringle to Leeds , ring any bells
Unless its for megabucks i said.

Would any of us criticise if we sold for £3m? I wouldn't provided Nigel was allowed to use the money. I believe he could do real damage with a sum like that. Enough to offset the loss of HM and then some.
Tbh pinch,i would class 3mill as megabucks for a league one centre back, plus add ons of course.

Glad we agree then.

I'm not wholly convinced. In a strange way, £3m seems too much to be spending in the section of the market SUFC can shop in. I suspect we can already afford most of the targets we're looking at from our own level and below, as evidenced by Scougs and McNulty. Most players rated at £500k and upwards would hope and expect to be going to the Championship, not to Div1.

But no doubt it would give us great scope in the loan market and tempt us into splashing significant fees. But those methods don't seem to be the Clough or SUFC way just now.

Of course I could be talking complete guff here… :)

This implies a level of "common sense" which would not normally be associated with a Board member of SUFC. Our negotiations n the past have usually revolved around getting a non-existant friendly etc.

We can only hope that we have now arrived in the real world and insist on negotiating properly in the best interests of the football Club, rather than the naïve, pathetic attempts seen by Board members over the last 30 years !!!

True.

Fans are the lifeblood of any club and often make a far larger sacrifice, relatively/personally in terms of cash.

That doesn't detract however from McCabe's effort's to secure top flight football...the asset swapping etc on the other hand will have divided fans.
Think that's still got a course to run.
Hopefully things will go well in the pitch and everyone will be happy.

It reminds me of Monopoly. the likes of me play with chips. Clever folk play for real

Others take A GAMBLE now and then. I take K,M, as a Blade . The gamblers are not with us. A good result I would bet.

Any sign of disaffection through his agent and clubs will pounce.
I trust Clough to find a credible replacement

Just mentioned in another thread I sent him an email complaining about the skills of Byan Robson and he called me and chatted for about 30 minutes on the phone. Will always respect him for that and the numerous other positive fan encounters I have heard about involving him.
