I live amongst the insufferable fuckers out here in Oughtibridge. There is absolutely no way I'm doing anything other than celebrating it loud and long. And I'll be doing it for quite a few weeks yet.
Roy Keane is qualified to talk about many things football related, but his opinion on specifically the Steel City derby is no more valid than anybody else’s, in fact I’d argue it’s less valid than those who have played for, do play for, or indeed support one of the two clubs. Because the Man U/Man City rivalry is not the same as the United/Wednesday one.
I couldn't care less how much we want to celebrate, but I wonder if it was also because the fans get kept held back for a while and it is a good opportunity to say thank you and share the celebrations together. We did the same last year too I seem to remember as CW had the George Baldock shirt with him.Yes its not quite the same, but we are, or should be lightyears ahead of SWFC.
We were on the verge of making the PL in May, they are in administration and about to go down to league one.
We have been dreadful and shameful this season and should be a bit more humble in accepting that throughout the majority of the season they have shown more fight than we have in relation to ability and resources.
The fact so many of us did not expect to win yesterday is a reflection of how embarrassing we have been. I hope we have turned a corner but there is a heck of a long way to go.
To be clear- celebrating is fine but it was a bit OTT yesterday posing for photos staying on for so long at the end etc.
The rugby players have obviously been watching American Football. I’ve never seen such overreaction to someone just doing their job as in that sport. On a serious note there was an interesting thought in the rugby yesterday that actually makes sense in this context.
Over the last 5 or so years, some England players have become famous for celebrating minor things like knock-ons and scrum penalties etc. This has irked a lot of other fans in other countries.
Recently, it has been noticed that whilst we have been winning more games those players have celebrated far less and been very much "next job".
That was until late yesterday when the game was getting tough, it was as though they needed to celebrate get the energy levels back up.
Had we been at the top of the league I'd imagine it would be far more "next job", but right now we need that spark of energy.

Yesterday sort of reminded me of this:
Yes we have had a miserable season, and if its good for morale then I'm all for it, but if we put in a dire performance against Portsmouth we will all feel a bit silly.
Delighted with the win, but with how weak they were, we should expect to win 'as standard'. They are a league one club, we are not (yet). Waddle, as much as we don't like him, was right- they had a threadbare squad. We should aspire to be more than simply being better than them.
Appreciate this will probably be very unpopular and I'm in a minority I know but it did seem a bit tinpot taking team photos (even if we did it last year) and took a tiny bit of the shine away.
We (players and management) should have just walked around applauding the fans as usual and make then head down the tunnel and focus on preparing for Portsmouth.
You clearly didn't read what I said.
I said that the fans can celebrate as much as they want obviously, but the players and management's celebrations were a bit OTT on the day taking team photos as if we'd won a trophy.
Roy Keane would agree with me.

Did city fans constantly tell utd that they were bigger , better , classier , better supported , on their way back etc etc...Yes its not quite the same, but we are, or should be lightyears ahead of SWFC.

The City/Rovers and Forest/County examples aren't really a proportional comparison. Notts county are in the fourth tier and at a guess average under 10k, while Forest are in Europe. Obviously the disparity isn't quite as vast between the Bristol clubs, but one is still undeniably more dominant and the bigger club. Each to their own and not seeking to take any joy away.
With that said would:
Bristol City do the same after beating Bristol Rovers 3-0 at their ground?
Nottingham Forest do the same after beating Notts County or Derby County 3-0 at their ground?
Newcastle do the same after beating Sunderland 3-0 at their ground? (maybe this season, but not last season for example)
etc. etc.
When Manchester United used to regularly beat Manchester City before 2008 they would just shrug and make their way down the tunnel afterwards. That's what I would like us to aspire to be.
