Yep.Really struggling to get enthused right now.
And it's not the results, it's the style, the model, the vision, the direction, the future plans etc.
I'm just not sure what as a club we're trying to be or what our identity is, both off and on the field.
Not sure if it's just me, my mental mind set or just the lack of communication, but I'm even noticing I'm even posting less frequently on here.
Anyone else feeling like this?
Only made two games this season and I have a ST.
My mates are the same.
No one is travelling away this season either.
We've all been going for years, home and away, so are not fair weather, but there's zero entertainment and that's the thing.
It was boring last year, but at least we won, it's even more boring this season. No goals, no shots, no pace. The players can't be arsed and neither can the fans. The whole thing is flat.
We will all keep going, but it's a very hard watch at the moment.
I just want him gone..terrible decision bringing him back..im bored shitlless watching us..i leave most games at half time ..him and his staff to me are clueless..just want someone forward thinking with fresh ideas and a brand new fitness and conditioning team..but do I trust them upstairs to get the next appointment right...absolutely not..i want them gone too.
It felt hollow and as has so much since 2020 because a once in a century act of god killed off what felt like the beginning of a golden era that many fans had waited half a century for. It has genuinely felt like watching an alternate timeline since, like it’s not really what should have happened. A season of Ndiaye being outrageous is the only thing I’ve enjoyed, the rest of it has been footballing purgatory.

Forgive me if I'm not seeing the irony in this bit, but honestly... "it wasn't his fault"?
I don't like having to re-trace this every three months but plenty of us noticed in 2020 that his ego had got to such wildly enormous proportions following the praise he was getting from Guardiola, Bielsa, and the media at home and abroad, that it was inevitable that it would all crash and burn like the Hindenburg.
We had a great run, the best since the mid-1970s, but beyond that there was nothing to back it up. There was a tactical innovation and it worked a treat for three years until we reached the PL. After six months the jig was up and we were left with what we had - decent, hardworking players and staff, and that is not enough on its own. Oh, and recruitment. FFS let's not go there again.
Since 2020 we've relied on attempted re-creations of something that has turned to dust, but in reality it's been one player who either got us there, or nearly there. Gibbs-White, Ndiaye, Hamer.
Wednesday live in the past, but we're living in the more recent past. The owners, current and previous, keep going back to the well, but the well has all but run dry. They don't seem to have the balls to go through with the necessary changes because the once-magical Wilder/Knill partnership is not buttering any parsnips any more.

I stopped my ST when Wilder left in the PL and the infamous 'were not football people' presser.
It had become character led by CW and worried for the future even then.
Hecky in, did an incredible job in tough circumstances, sacked and guess who's back?
Last season, lots of points, minimal value for money and atmosphere.
The first time I didnt go to a huge game as I couldn't begin to convince myself that we'd do it.
Pick and choose my matches now. Supporting but on my terms, not tied into a ST.
This season, not a surprise at all. Same manager and coaching team that failed us last season. Eventually, the clichés and positive words stop working.
There's never been a time in my Blades life when we need someone to step in, focus dispassionately on what needs doing to drive us on and wield the axe.
Sadly, no one with real money will come in due to what we are now, so we're stuck with underachieving and another January transfer window, months more of excuses until the summer when we rinse and repeat.
Crossing fingers and believing in fairytales won't make us successful, however much you try to convince yourselves.
Lower league and non league football for me and I'll be at BDTBL when I like.

Agree with the OP, it's hard to build up any enthusiasm at the moment and even though we were on the brink of promotion last year the rot was well and truly setting in. The club needs a huge kick up the arse, BDTBL isn't the "cauldron" it once was, opposition aren't intimidated in coming to us and the atmosphere is as flat as a pancake. Say what you like about Cov and their Coldplay light show last week their fans created more of an atmosphere in that 90 minutes than we have in the last 2 seasons.

I think a lot of people feel similar but it’s not necessarily just an SUFC thing, but a reflection on modern football.
The gulf between the championship & Prem means we know we’ll likely not have it any better than the 9th place finish. We want to win & get promoted, but our reward is getting battered most weeks. We can look at Sunderland with envy now, but let’s be honest that was never going to be us was it? We’d have probably been propping Wolves up.
The championship is also going a similar way, there is (usually) a clear gulf between those with parachute payments and those without so we expect to win most games at this level, and because of that it’s hard to get excited outside of big games against Wednesday / Leeds etc.
We’re in danger of falling into the Norwich / West Brom / Stoke cycle now. We’ve yo-yo’d for a few years but without a clear plan, wasted a lot of money & with a few bad transfer windows & poor managerial appointments we end up being an average championship club again. We just have to avoid dropping down another level as that’s where it gets even tougher to rebuild.

I don't like Wilder but I do think he has does genuinely care for the club even if he doesn't own his mistakes. (Neither did Warnock) Will he steer us clear maybe? At least he seems to be clear about who he does and doesn't need. Much like Warnock, I trust Wilder with less money than more money and I hope in January he can wheel and deal to get who thinks will be up for the fight.
With him at the helm now is the time for the owners to put more infrastructure in place so that changing manager or more to the point changing head coach in the future won't be so destabilising to the club. The owners can be about promotion to the PL all they want but they really need to focus on getting off the field right where they can. It's all a learning curve for them but they need to learn fast and listen to those who know about football.
Like others have said .. I just don’t enjoy watching us play and I haven’t for a number of years.

I agree, and that's the nightmare. They've not been in the top flight for a quarter of a century. We've had four seasons but have nowt to show for it. It's unlikely their new owners will be as incompetent as ours, therefore, in a couple of seasons, roles reversed. We have ruined an opportunity to establish ourselves as the top club in the city. Season ticket sales will drop off a cliff in the summer. They will be back to > 30k, we will be < 20k. Back to the future time, 1995 here we come.

During Covid it was dreadful watching the game from home being played in an empty stadium. At the time I didn’t know if my uncle (who made sure I was a blade) would ever see a live game again. I swore if I ever got to go to a match again I wouldn’t take it for granted, and whilst it’s not brilliant at the moment and this forum, blades podcasts etc might take a backseat at the moment I can’t imagine not going.
I wouldn’t criticise those who stop going but wonder how many of those have previously sung “win loose or draw I’ll still come back for more” or “forever and ever I’ll follow my team”

I think there’s all that but what’s really sapped the hope of a return to better days is the way the new ownership has played out following the long drawn out takeover.
The Prince had sole charge for 5 years and made it clear during that time he needed to move the club on as he didn’t have the funds to compete. 2 bogus takeover bids followed by COH which took the best part of a year and we were all anticipating something which could move the needle on decades of incompetence, infighting and empty coffers….and we’ve ended up with just that.
The club seems to be sleep walking into League One and we’ve all still got recent memory of how long you can end up down there for. After some real highs it’s hard to criticise anybody for not having the appetite for it.

Equally, I have also advised the citizens of many towns and cities I am going to both copulate with their ladies and leave them sans alcoholic beverages.

Stick with them and the enthusiasm will return eventually. I think the way covid happened has probably impacted our fan base more than most. We were about to scale our Everest and then everything stopped and when it started again it was a different world and football was pretty much a different sport. It going so terribly from that moment on has left a lot feeling like what's the point. It'll never be as good as that again realistically and it fell apart in such bizarre and alien circumstances beyond our control.
A spell in league 1 might actually help to galvanise us.

Long-term season ticket holder.
Started out with happily missing mid-week games as for a long time it's not been worth the effort after work, sitting in traffic etc to be bored shitless for 90 minutes, then sit in traffic on the way home.
Now I've started happily making plans on the weekends, knowing I'll miss the match, because lets face it, we're not missing much.
I might just need to have a season or two off, but it's just so boring.
The football is dross.
Constant negative tactics with players that either aren't good enough (awful recruitment) or don't put the effort in (or both).
Manager having favourites that play no matter how little they bring to the team.
I actually welcomed the change in the summer (it was time to try and advance the club into the modern era), but the half-arsed way everything was handled has left a sour taste in the mouth.
We're back to boring Wilderball, creating next to nothing, sideways and backwards first football.

Meh, I've seen a lot worse than this lot. I do still think this squad has a few individuals with quality than say we had in 2010. We don't have flapper Simmo in goal, a useless clown like Neil Collins in defence, an ageing Nick "runaround" Montgomery in midfield and a walking red card like Darius Henderson up front.
We never had it so good before COVID hit and who knows what PA could have been able to with the club had it not happened but this is Sheffield United and you just have to roll with the punches.
If we can light it up like we did first half v Preston and second half v Blackburn then I think we would be a very entertaining team to watch. That is if Wilder can get those levels consistently that is regardless of last season.
I enjoyed the promotion under Hecky but the amount of injuries we had was obscene.

I think it's completely valid that the "feel" around United is not what it used to be. But it's not going to be while we're paying bland, directionless football. I get the apathy, this team don't seem to have much about them, aside from one or two standouts at the minute such as O'Hare and Hamer (when he returns).
For me, though, exciting football is just a bonus. If I wanted to watch exciting football and forget the rest I'd go and watch Man City, or just sit in front of the telly and watch whatever games I can find on my (totally legal) means of watching football.
I don't go for that, I go to see the people that sit around us, the blokes in the pub that I'd have never met without United, spending time with my dad and now taking my kids and trying to show them what my dad showed me.
I started going in the late 90s when we were not quite on our arse, but it wasn't exactly riveting. I had the excitement of the 02/03 Triple Assault season that first made it feel like an exciting place to watch football, then the brand new (to me) sparkly Premier League a few years later. The we had years of abject, constantly declining football for nearly a decade.
I don't get to many away games now due to aforementioned young kids, but I think when I did go regularly they showed me that football is much more than the 90 minutes. Once I accepted that, the wilderness years didn't seem so bad. I'm probably in the minority but I still look forward to going to the Lane every single time. I still get invested in the match, even when playing crap I still get those nerves and that feeling that, even if unlikely, something may just happen (I acknowledge I am a hopeless optimist).
With the parachute payments running out, and a pretty subpar squad, we could be in for another long stint in the wilderness. The people that sit around us will still be there, as will the blokes in the pub, my dad and my boys, all with that bit of hope that the good times will return.

It's exactly how I'm feeling.
I felt pretty hollow leaving Wembley as I sensed we were entering these years, but I didn't expect us to be as bad as we are.
COH have been a disaster in every sense of the word. A huge reason why I'm feeling so disengaged is their inability to communicate their vision or inspire any positivity.
They've made negligible progress off the field and the level of decline on the field is almost unprecedented.
It all just feels a bit meh. It reminds me of the seasons under Adkins/Clough.
I was at Uni at the time so had better things to be doing, but I'd sometimes find out our result and opposition after the event.
I'm not quite there yet, but I've watched games this season and felt nothing when we've scored or conceded.
It's sad, but a club like ours is always likely to have these periods. I'm sure it'll come back around eventually.
