The small little town of Hull. Hull city. That was said by Bruce just now on itv. Wonder how the people of Hull feel about Bruce calling it a town.

Bet you any money these at wembley are from Beverley and surrounding towns all the proper hull folk are in Manchester watching the hull derby;)

I know two Hull fans who arent season ticket holders (one is from London and the other lives in Brighton area and has hardly watched Hull City since the 1970s) both managed to get Wembley tickets

Just one more post ... sorry we couldn't win it for Yorkshire. Relative to Arsenal, we're a small club so on the whole, we're proud of the players' efforts. Ozil cost 42 million ... we just broke our transfer record paying about 7 million each for Jelavic and Long ... as I've said before ... we're not a big club ... we're having a good spell as you've had good spells. These things go in cycles. Thanks for the kind message of support and get yourselves promoted .... at the very least some derbies in The Championship would be nice to look forward to. Look after yourselves.

I'm team Arsenal.

With the exception of the OP all other Hull fans have been so far up their own arses leading upto and after the semi final it's untrue. Look at Norwich and see how easy things can change. All it needs is for Bruce to land a decent job and they could well be playing us in the championship season after next.

Enjoy your time up the pedestal Hull fans but it's a bit wobbly and you'll get knocked off it at some point...

On another note, oh how I wish Birmingham had got relegated yesterday.. Horrible cunts as fans.

But he did have the best job of all and then pissed off

Easy to say I know but I thought you sat back too much after going two nil up, the way you were playing up till then, I thought Hull still had another goal in them. I'm sure your gutted to have lost that to a not particularly impressive Arsenal side, still you gave 'em one hell of a fright. Couldn't get over the comments of Chiles along the lines of most people would have been feeling sorry for Wenger after a barren nine year wait without a trophy, yes my heart was bleeding for him (not). Talking of barren spells, well done to the Scottish cup winners, 130 year wait for a trophy !.

The commentary on all channels (including radio 5) before, during and after the match was a disgrace and sums up the media bias towards the big 5 clubs. The continual mention of Arsenals 9 year wait for a trophy, what about Dull City's 100 and odd year wait. I felt the same leading up to the semi, where we barely got a mention and little credit for being there. As for Adrian Chiles, i will give him a fiver if he manages not to be so smug and arrogant for 10 minutes.

You might not like him,but Roy Keane is the only one who says it as it is, the rest TWATS THE LOT OF EM!

The Sunday Mirror gave Quinny 5/10 and said he chased and harried and didn't do a lot else. Is it me, or didn't he have a hand in both goals? Sometimes I hate the media, and one of those 'sometimes' is this weekend.

The BBC have got the Cup for next season, an improvement on ITV but there will surely be further atrocities once the 3rd Round starts.

And we were still THE Cup team of 2013/2014.

I thought Hull looked knackered from about 10 minutes into the second half but then Arsenal did have 60 - 65% possession from about 25 minutes onwards.

I for one dont envy Hull playing in the Europa Cup , a complete waste of time as you know that teams buncled out of the champions league like seville and benfica will get to the final, all it does is give you ridiculous fixtures not a soul cares about.
Wendies constantly go on about europe and in our lifetime theyve only beaten spora luxemburg, big wow.
Hull could end up being relegated due to the fixture pile up playing metalugist or sligo rovers.
It certainly buggared up Wigan who looked shattered in their play off games

Agree with this to an extent. A Europa League stint would not have helped our promotion push next season. However ...

One of the sticks used by a certain other club in Sheffield is that we've never appeared in Europe. Would have been nice to exercise that one.

I did a bit of an exercise a while back and discovered that, since European competition came in in 1955 we have spent the greatest number of seasons in the top division without ever qualifying (18 seasons).

I think Palace were the next one - they have now spent 15 seasons in the top division since 1955 (including next season) without ever qualifying for a proper European competition (though they have been in the Intertoto)

Bang on as per mate.i was absolutely chuffed when Hull got the 5th and finally put this nightmare scenario to bed.

It's a slow Sunday.

Clubs that have been in the top division since 1955 and have never qualified for one of the three major European competitons, by seasons in the top division:

18 SUFC
16 Luton*
15 Palace
14 Charlton
14 Wimbledon*
14 Blackpool
6 Preston
4 Bristol City
4 Brighton
4 Notts County
3 Reading
3 Oldham
3 Oxford*
3 Huddersfield
2 Millwall
2 Bradford
1 Carlisle
1 Swindon
1 Orient
1 Northampton
1 Barnsley

* These clubs would have qualified for Europe in the 1985-90 period had it not been for the ban on English clubs.

Error correction - Millwall have qualified for Europe = as FA Cup runners up in 2004.

Which brings us to another list - all English clubs who have qualified for Europe

1. Newcastle
2. Sunderland
3. Middlesbrough
4. Leeds
5. Wednesday
6. Hull
7. Blackburn
8. Burnley
9. Liverpool
10. Everton
11. Man Utd
12. Man City
13. Bolton
14. Wigan
15. Derby
16. Forest
17. Leicester
18. Stoke
19. WBA
20. Wolves
21. Birmnigham
22. Villa
23. Coventry
24. Norwich
25. Ipswich
26. Watford
27. Arsenal
28. Fulham
29 Chelsea
30. QPR
31. Millwall
32. West Ham
33. Spurs
34. Southampton
35. Portsmouth
36, Cardiff
37. Swansea
38. Newport
40. Wrexham

The Welsh clubs (except Swansea) all through the Welsh Cup, which is cheating a bit. Still, well over a third of current league clubs have played in Europe and we are not one of them :-(

I'm sure I'll be sat at Scunthorpe away on a Tuesday night in December next year feeling so smug about how we've not had a whopping 6 extra games to hamper our promotion push and how happy I am that I'm not at the San Siro or El Madrigal watching us play Inter or Villareal.

The mind boggles.

Basically we're the biggest club in Europe never to have played in Europe

I may be wrong but I think raul's post was laced with sarcasm

You should have added a asterisk to SUFC because we were "qualified" a Euro place for the 1962-63 season and even the Football League nominated us (we finished in 5th place in 1961-62), Everton (4th place) and Burnley (runners up) to play in the Fairs Cup (Spurs were 3rd but their FA Cup win got them into the CWC so we supposed to get the last place) but the Fairs Cup committee wanted Wendy (who finished 6th), Birmingham (finished 20th!) and Everton. There were several meetings in the summer of 1962 between the FL and Fairs Cup committee to try to resolve the problem but in the end only Everton were the FL's entry in the 1962-63 Fairs Cup

You have nicked that from my article in FB!

In those days though, there was no set qualification for the Fairs Cup. It was by invitation, so the situation isn't really comparable with Wimbledon, Luton and Oxford, who would have qualified as FA and League Cup winners were it not for the ban.

Honestly I have not seen your article in FB. When was that? I have not bought FB for about 10 years now. When I was doing Woody's goals and assists for FB about 12 years ago , I was quite interested to read in the morning Telegraph Archives in the Sheffield Library what had happened and around that time I made a thread about how we should have been in the Fairs Cup in 1962-63 in either SUISA or BU forum so you probably "nicked" my article!
