My point wasn't to suggest RND should have been kept or recalled.

When things aren't working for the team it is easy to write off individual players. We played pre season and started the season with a centre back crisis. RND was put there. Bristol City was his first match since January, just back from injury, low on confidence and played out of position, in a team that was yet to discover they were poorly set up. Looking back it wasn't a surprise it didn't work out.

But when even our perceived biggest problem can move on, join another club, go straight into their team, in a different, more suitable position/role, and play a part in them turning things around and winning games at the same level as us, it should be noticed. It shows how important it is to compose well balanced teams with players in their right roles, being asked to do what they're good at. Mediocre players can be effective if they are used right.

I noticed the not universally popular Jack Robinson helped Birmingham to a clean sheet and a win on Saturday. Kieffer Moore by September already outscoring his tally for us last season. I see Sander Berge perform well for Fulham and Norway in the holding role that many Blades fans thought he couldn't do.

A number of our players did well last season, but they're all struggling at the moment. Rather than going over the top with criticism of each individual I think we should try to assess why they are not performing. How can we find the right tactics, and a line up that arrests the slide, and in time perform well together offensively and defensively.

RND just doesn’t seem to fit into Wilder or Selles system before. He was an absolute car crash in the games he played last season, including against Barnsley in the cup, so I’m really glad he’s gone. He was clearly not up to it in so many ways.

Robinson was never an issue for me, he made some errors but was mostly solid. It’s a sad end that he left like he did with rumours and comment about his attitude but last season he was part of a solid defensive side and led the team well. He gave us a level of aggressive professionalism which I think we would need now.

That said, it was probably the time for his move and a fresh start for him. He’d been around some real ups and some big dies at the club so it was the right move for all parties, really

In other words, Selles was a complete fraud.
