RND

Scored for Stoke today and then should've got an assist bar a piece of finishing our strikers would be proud of.

Especially since Fleck deserted him for all second half. And at least his first thought wasn't to just boot it into the box from out wide.

And now Slav is comfortable if we sell him for £5m….

Is Slav really actually Gary Megson in a scooby doo villain mask..?

Has Slav said anything on RND leaving or a bid then? I must have missed that! If not what makes you think that Slav is ok with RND going?

I thought he did great- some decent crosses and pretty quick. Might not seem that important but a great throw down the line which nobody was expecting to send Brewster away in the first half too. Looks a clever player, we lost something when he went off.

Played really well I thought, put the rest of midfield to shame, I know it wasnt hard, but he did well with Davies on the left.

He looks comfortable it was a solid enough start and hopefully he continues to improve as he gains familiarity with his team mates. Compared to our other options there he’ll certainly do.

Doubt he will start next league game, really don’t understand why he subbed him off and kept fleck on? I really must be watching a different game to Slav

He was fucked. 60 odd mins and coming back from an injury. Blowing out of his arse.

Just watching the Wales game- he's not really done anything of note but I'm impressed by his constant shouting for the ball. He actually wants the ball at every opportunity which is the polar opposite of our current midfield.

Poor against Luton, it seemed to me every pass he tried forwards was blocked easily and he never beat anyone going forward.

In our good first spell he was decent to be fair. He looks to put in early crosses every time he crosses the halfway line which is a novelty these days for us

Think he’s done great for us so far personally.

Wants the ball, and tries to beat his man and cross. It’s been such a long time we had anyone that actually tries to take on his man and doesn’t just wait for the overload or pass back.

Hope his positivity doesn’t get mistaken for being inconsistent. Should be giving the ball away a lot more when you’re trying to make things happen.

Should’ve got his first assist against Luton started very bright faded as the game went on but so did they all

Anyone see how he played for Wales today? Did he do ok?

I've done a detailed statistical analysis of all of SUFC's games this season with and without RND.

With RND: Lost them all.
Without RND: Lost them all.

I'll see whether I can provide similar analysis for other players as and when I get the time. It will be interesting to work out which players make all the difference.

I see the stats a bit different:

With RND: Lost 0
Without RND: Lost 6

The same numbers are true when we play with and without Haaland or Salah, clearly he's an undervalued player of equivalent quality and needs to be recalled immediately.

My point wasn't to suggest RND should have been kept or recalled.

When things aren't working for the team it is easy to write off individual players. We played pre season and started the season with a centre back crisis. RND was put there. Bristol City was his first match since January, just back from injury, low on confidence and played out of position, in a team that was yet to discover they were poorly set up. Looking back it wasn't a surprise it didn't work out.

But when even our perceived biggest problem can move on, join another club, go straight into their team, in a different, more suitable position/role, and play a part in them turning things around and winning games at the same level as us, it should be noticed. It shows how important it is to compose well balanced teams with players in their right roles, being asked to do what they're good at. Mediocre players can be effective if they are used right.

I noticed the not universally popular Jack Robinson helped Birmingham to a clean sheet and a win on Saturday. Kieffer Moore by September already outscoring his tally for us last season. I see Sander Berge perform well for Fulham and Norway in the holding role that many Blades fans thought he couldn't do.

A number of our players did well last season, but they're all struggling at the moment. Rather than going over the top with criticism of each individual I think we should try to assess why they are not performing. How can we find the right tactics, and a line up that arrests the slide, and in time perform well together offensively and defensively.

I would probably prefer him to McCallum as back-up LB.

His biggest problem in the past year or two was that he only played the odd game here or there and looked miles off the pace of the game, which with the way the defence was exposed against Bristol City was always going to be a disaster.

Loaning him out was for the best, if he comes back in January or at the end of the season, he'll hopefully be more of an asset as he'll have been actually playing football, more likely we just take the money as the squad is too big but a fully fit RND is a much better left back than McCallum.

I liked RND under Hecky on the left hand side of the back 3 , provided us with a bit of pace ( yes I did say that ) and linked up well with either Stevens / Lowe ( yes I did say that also lol ) down that left hand side .
Sadly the 2 hamstring tears completely stripped him of pace & he looks shadow of that player now . Sentimentally aside we really shouldn’t have offered him a new contract , I wish the lad well but you’ll never see him hit form pre injury ⚔️
