So, Charlton come to town in new circumstances. Here’s an encounter from yesteryear. Any memories?…

My first away game. I'd started work the previous month so had a few quid in my pocket. Decided to go on a Blades coach with a fellow apprentice.
Two vague memories: Millwall's game was postponed that day so a few of them turned up at The Valley. Cue fisticuffs with the Charlton fans.
Also, The Blades played in one of our best ever away kits. Yellow shirt with black chevrons.

the massiah returns to fire us up to get 3 points he doesnt need a laptop to win blades 2 charlton 0 ,,tufty wins, were back.the king tufty is a kop legend winner..utb..

that weather looks horrendous just looked on accuweather. 23mm forecast for tomorrow. our average rainfall for September is usually only 63mm. which works out at 11 days of rain will hit tomorrow. in a way i just hope we can complete the match & its doesnt get postponed

I was at The Valley a couple of years later. Our coach was in a convoy and crashed into the coach in front. Freezing on the way back to Sheffield on the same coach. We lost. Paul Walsh played for those.

I've got a really good feeling today like I've had since Monday an think we'll give these there first hiding of the season. I've had £5 on blades to win 4-0 at 33/1 UTB

Not wishing to be a party pooper, but Chris Wilder has lost both his previous first games in charge for us (against Bolton in 2016 and Liverpool in 2023).

3-2 the Wizaaaaards.
Some wobbly moments (because we wont change over night and Charlton are better that we're giving them credit for) but the new energy and crowd will power us through in a barnburner.

When’s the last time we actually scored four under Wilder? Gotta be a few years ago.

We'll come flying out of the blocks in the first 10 minutes and get an early goal. Then we'll retreat into ourselves and either grind out a 1-0 win or concede a late equaliser
