I have a memory of Charlton.
It was my first United away match in London - at the Valley in the 3rd round of the cup. We won 1-0. Must have been 1966 or ‘67.
The fourth round was at Craven Cottage, my second London away game. We drew 1-1, with a certain Allan Clarke playing for Fulham and Tony Booth, the randy scouse git, from ‘’Till Death Us Do Part’ in the crowd - I assumed he wasn’t there for us.
If memory serves me well, the replay at the Lane was postponed two or three times due to bad weather.
In any event we won that and on to the 5th round.
Another trip to London where we were easily beaten 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Outside Chelsea’s ground was a Morris Minor with a Blades shirt emblazoned on the boot saying loud and clear, ‘I’m putting my shirt on the Blades!’

Hoping for another big game on Saturday, looks like a sellout and I expect the atmosphere to be a huge change from previous games.

Just a reminder The Students return to their residences this weekend, so don’t attempt to get to the game by car unless you park at Meadowhall and get the Tram or Train into the city. Bus won’t cut it either as the roads will be completely grid locked.

Best bet walk if you can or otherwise Tram or Train into the city centre and walk from there.

Bizarrely my first ever Blades game was flipped scoreline (3-2 to blades) in March 81 when I was a little kid. Back in the days when dad would hop you over the turnstiles and stood on the kop.

With this playing staff we’re probably in the most false position of any team right now.
