It's perhaps better having Sharp back as a non-playing-player to lead the dressing room. Plainly we have lacked a leader in that department since he left. He is a massive character and a proven leader, willing to dish it out (Wrexham etc) and take it. The kind of player around whom a positive mentality can coalesce.

I do hope Ben Mee might be starting under Wilder in a back three and given the arm band. But Sharp leading the players from the sidelines would be a good option for me.

Fantasy land though as he's contracted elsewhere.

My thoughts is that it’s a fucking stupid idea to give a player currently under contract at another club a job he’s never done before.

We need a fitness coach so the professional footballers can last 95 minutes. Just like all the guys that play football at the weekend and have a full time job.

The new owners clearly decided they didn’t like the idea of Blady Bladiness regards appointments and to be fair that makes logical sense.

If we basically apply active nepotism by only employing Blades fans as managers then it massively narrows our options.

Small time old fashioned owners might try to build an empire of Blade supporting staff but you would imagine these US millionaires would just laugh at the idea calling it ridiculous.

As a succession plan, it's not such a bad idea - after all, it never did Liverpool too much harm, based on the transposition from Shankly, to Paisley, then to Joe Fagan, and then Dalglish. We've all heard of the famous Anfield Bootroom, which also included Roy Evans and Reuben Bennett.

However,if such a thing was to happen, it's something that will only happy when Bill's ready to retire, and then he'll need mentoring by Chris and Alan.
Plus I wouldn't rush him into such a big role at a early part of his post playing career. A time as a coach of something like the U18's, U21 or development squad or working in a role in the new academy would allow him to effectively "earn his wings" and then, when the club and Chris think he's ready, taking the next step.

So, realistically, you're probably looking at least 5 years before Sharpy gets anywhere near this level...
