This is probably a worse start than anyone could have imagined. With Boro & Ipswich to follow….. this could easily be played 5 lost 5. We are staring right down the barrel of a relegation fight!
No it isn't. There were plenty on here saying this would be exactly what would be happening but we were the bedwetters. Hope before the end of the window we have some better players who are 1st team ready and we have shut of Selles (or he drops his stubbornness and actually uses a formation that suits the players we have 'cus this clearly is utterly bollox). Don't really care who they bring in but not Cooper.

I understand that sentiment but I disagree.

Sacking him was the mistake, so to bring someone else in would just be another toss of a the coin and we’d end up with a manager with a team made up of 3 other managers.

At least Wilder has worked with majority of this squad, a squad he came so close to working a minor miracle with last season. This would be a bigger challenge than the -2 last season, given the start we’ve made, but with Wilder back as manager I think we’d still finish in the play offs.
Exactly right - out of all the gambles we could take now, he would be the safest bet

Think it was losing PO final, straw & camels back etc

Owners will accept antics, singing pissed up slagging off a fellow manager, turgid football, brining in holding then playing JLT😂
if the desired outcome is reached.

That decision was right

This decision seemingly isnt

Fuck me pressures on next one
It wasnt always turgid in my view, I accept that the performances weren't great at times but Wilder proved that he can win football matches and that's the bottom line. I've still got hope for this season but probably will need a change in manager because something is clearly not right with the players.

Anybody who thinks this will get better under Selles hasn’t been watching. The players body language is dreadful and they clearly don’t believe in whatever the plan is. Selles has absolutely nothing in his track record to suggest he can take us up…. But relegation is now a distinct possibility without a decisive change.
I’d bring Wilder back but if that’s unpalatable I’d be bring in Sean Dyche if possible. He’s been there and done it - and these players clearly need a leader to believe in.

Wilder is not the long term answer. Selles has got to go, the players are not buying into anything he says. Selles out in no bed wetter but this is not even looking like he can turn this around.

Some people saying bring Wilder back are slagging Cannon as a none footballer who Wilder spunked 10m on when we needed a CB.

We cant go back to Wilder, if Selles goes it has to be for someone like Cooper who has won promotion before from this league and with a team who were also bottom when he took over

I'm not fully writing him off but it takes something to make Hamer look completely anonymous.

System is not working for this team at all.

We did have some chances 2nd half and Millwall had some luck there. But really cannot say it was down to luck.

He's been dealt a poor hand to start with but he's also showed inexperience in handling an undercooked squad.
Come on mate! Own up its fucking shite!

Can't see Selles getting sacked any time soon. The board will not want to bring new players like Godfrey and Tanganga and then get rid of the manager. I think we are stuck with Selles for a little while yet. Even if results and performances do not improve I think they will give him until November at least. Very worrying times. That was a must not lose game today given we have 2 tough away games coming up. We were a bit unlucky in the second half but the first half was as bad as it gets

If I was the board I would be on a plane to the UK tonight and ordering everyone in tomorrow and kicking some arse.

But for all those saying what rid?
Who would you bring in? And don't say Wilder FFS.

There needs to be a plan.
The plan is: There is no plan!

But apparently Wilder didn't sign Cannon?

It’s done. We need to move on.

We've moved on - we've moved from 3rd place to 24th place.

We've turned 'boring' 1-0 wins into turgid, frustrating 1-0 losses (or worse).

We've stopped looking backwards, and started looking forwards, as everyone demanded, which has led to us going backwards.

And we've 'progressed' - again, as everyone demanded - by regressing from promotion challengers to relegation candidates.

If we continue to 'move on' at this rate, we'll be moving on back into League One.

Agree

don’t mind losing, as we can’t win every game

It’s the performances for me, and remember Boro are also blooding in a new manager.

If we play this shite and lose the next 2 to nil, the question has to be asked

Of the 49 league games last season, I reckon you’d struggle to get half a dozen games you came away from saying ‘played fuckin good there’
X2 play off semis
Boro

Even pigs games were hard fought, not 8/10 performances

For balance. Better than this shite like 😂😂

You're right but at the same time we got results. I think if Wilder stayed then he would have tried to sign a right sided winger/attacking player for greater balance. Well never know. Hamer looked much better under Wilder than he did Selles that's for sure.

I’m wilder out

But we wouldn’t be on zero points

Can’t we get a manager who can produce a winning team with a modicum of entertainment?!

Apparently Wilder was given the best part of £15 million last January and failed to take us up so should be welcomed back to fail again?

Whether it's the wrong managerial appointment or not, the answer isn't to keeper going back to former managers.

Boro and Ipswich next. Both away
I don’t expect any points from those two games the way we are performing.

I can’t see the owners holding on to Selles’s any longer than those next two games?

We should have pushed on from last season but instead we appear to have gone from a top of the table side to a clueless bottom of the league side in 5 fkin minutes 🤔

I never understood this appointment. For me it was about a manager such as Dyche or Cooper. Whether they were interviewed and didn’t fancy it on a frees and loans budget (now supplemented due to sales) who knows?

In one season he rebuilt the aqua and got results. 31 wins wasn’t it?

He could have finessed the style theough the summer but inescapably the got results.

I’ll take an ugly win over a good performance and defeat. I want us to go up.

If I wanted to cheer on performance and not care about results I’ll go and watch non league as a neutral.

Football is all about winning.

He should be gone tonight but will get at least until the Charlton game.

Wilder.....when it's right it's right

like one or two others on this thread have said i think sean dyche could well be brought in know it would be very basic football but he would get us organised with a game plan which weve neither of under selles and the players certainly are not exactly busting a gut for him personally if its affordable think the change needs making now before 2 inevitable defeats at boro and ipswich

Totally agree regarding Selles but in truth the players have to take some responsibility as well particularly in midfield and up front

We need new blood here better than what we have but the big problem is that given the start we have had any potential incoming players will be having second thoughts now that we could be facing a relegation battle
