You can't commit that much money to Tanganga and keep him around
Fair. We need a defensive addition anyway. If they're serious about any sort of playoff campaign they will need to be as ruthless as they were in sacking Wilder. There's very little to suggest Sellés is the answer sadly. Fail fast or whatever Elthouky says eh.

We did but you can't commit that when we are speedrunning a relegation and have scored 1 goal in 3 games.

Very concerning. Manager has 45 minutes to put it right but continues with the same turgid formation. A criticism from other clubs fans. As far the substitutions, baffling. Only 1 made after 80 minutes.

The players dont want to play for him that is apparent as they regress into the slow passing game of last season. It wasnt about the defence today although JLT once again was responsible for the goal conceded. It was about the lack of desire. If your players have lost that then its not long before you are looking for new employment. Im afraid if the owners still want to have a Championship club at the end of the season then they seriously need to consider if they've made a mistake and accept Selles has found the job too big for him. Having witnessed today it will only get worse if they let it drag on. Someone needs to come in to motivate the players and get them back on board. Im afraid its not Ruben Selles.

Not a second added on the five minutes despite their time wasting?

The performances might have been shit but extremely unlucky to not have gotten a single point out of these two home fixtures.
Last season the Burrows inside of the post piledriver and Campbell off the line header go in. Not having any luck when the pressure is on.
We keep coming up against keepers having worldies too. That tip round the post from Hamer was fabulous.
Saying that we lost it first half. Millwall did the job, quietened the crowd, nicked a simple goal and then defended like Trojans.
That’s often all it takes in this division.

In fairness to Selles, the 2nd half was a big improvement as we finally carried an attacking threat . We were unlucky not to equalise 3 good Millwall saves, 2 efforts off the post & 2 cleared off the line. But you cannot be as woeful as we were in the 1st half and expect to keep digging yourself out of a hole.

I hate to say it, but after 25 years of watching football I know how ruthless the business is. Positive performances don’t pay the bills. Looking ahead, we have to get a result against Boro, because I can only see us losing away at Ipswich. If that happens, Selles’ job would surely be untenable: 5 defeats from 5 & bottom of the league.

Well, my prediction was a much improved performance but a frustrating 1-1 draw, how wrong could I be, that was worse. Never leave early but I did today. Some of those players are a disgrace and my message to Peck is, if you don’t want to be here, hand in a transfer request and feck off.
He's just useless not disinterested.

First half was truly dire. They looked like they didn't want to play for the manager. Just stood around like lemons or decided they were just going to do their own thing. No pressing. No energy. Hoofing the ball to no one. Pathetic. The lot of them. Set up by a manager who is looking clueless. Second half continued in this vein but at least towards the end we began to look a bit more like the team that started against Bristol City. More urgency. More desire to be first to the ball.

Still, not good enough in the end and we're below a team that's struggling to stay in business. That's how shit the owners, manager, coaches and players have been this season. dogshit the whole lot of them.

Cooper - 6 - Made a few decent saves but no chance with the goal. Actually kicked better than normal (low bar I know)
Burrows - 6 - Our best player for me. The one who kept trying and going. The one trying to get involved.
Robinson - 5 - Slow. Ponderous. Lost almost every battle. At least knew the need for urgency.
Bindon - 3.5 - I thought he looked poor. Both CBs were bullied but he looked like an accident waiting to happen today.
Godfrey - 5 - His positioning is dubious but in his defence he's only been at the club a few games. Not bad considering.
Peck - 3.5- Didn't track his runner for the goal. Got tackled at the end of the first half and didn't bust a gut to recover. He looks like he's not bothered. He got a bit better second half but he's so slow on the ball and turns in an arc on his right foot every time. He must be so easy to play against with rudimentary coaching.
Hamer - 4.5 - Hard to mark him. Had a great shot and put a couple of crowd-pleasing bursts in but goes missing for large periods of games. Also seems incapable of holding a position.
O'Hare - 5 - Same with O'Hare really. You can see how much he's trying but he loses the ball consistently with his Hollywood flicks and just abandons position to press because Campbell/Cannon have no intention of doing it.
Barry - 4.5 - Tried to have a go first half but he cuts in all the blasted time. We have two wide players who only want to cut inside when it's crying out for someone to go to the line. He had success in League 1 doing it but there are much better defenders at this level.
Campbell - 4 - Stood as close to his defender as possible first half. Actually made an effort in the second but he looks frustrated.
Cannon - 0 - One of the worst displays of football I've seen from someone in a United shirt. Constantly wandering inside to be a striker. Rarely tracking back, making a run or offering himself for the ball. If it did get to him he gave it away. An embarrassment of a footballer.

Subs:

Brooks - 5.5 - We looked much better with him on the pitch but Like Barry he can only com inside so it's really easy to stop him. Did a few decent things but then kept the ball too long and lost it.
One - 5 - Actually looked a lot better today. Caused a tiring defence a few issues but not involved enough.
Seriki - 5 - Came on and showed some spark to get forward but slow and clumsy with the ball as well.

Selles - 1 - The Peck/O'Hare/Hamer combination is kamikaze football. A child can see this. Why is Soumare not playing? Why did he start Cannon in a position he's never played in? Where was the system? Where was the plan? No press. No energy. The players looked lost and confused and I suspect waiting for him to be sacked.

Millwall - Coburn and Ivanovic are handfuls. The kind of player Moore is but younger and better finishers. They'll cause every team problems but ultimately look poor at the back and De Norre looks like Lundstram without any skill.

Just over a week of the window left open and don't see us doing any business that improves us enough to be competing around the play-offs.

We're a small team and Taranga who is barely 6ft and usually plays well next to a big lump (Cooper) which we don't have. I really don't understand our business this window full stop so far. Seems like we loaned some players with no great thought about how they'd fit into a system that half the current squad can't play in. We have Campbell and Cannon as strikers who can't do well in this system. We have Hamer and O'Hare who can't play in this system.

It's an utter mess at the moment.

The only time we looked like playing football was with 25mins left when Selles ball was kicked to the curb by the players! He is awful! Get rid now! He’s turned our best players into idiots in the space of 2 months! Sorry mate… but get yourself back to data analysis and number crunching with the other wannabe managers! Selles out!!

Didn't mind our second half out of context of everything so far.

However the toxic attitude is going to be impossible to get rid of.

The Wilder naysayers won but at what cost.
I'd say 20 minutes of the second half were ok. Pretty decent. Where we pressed, took chances and showed desire to win balls. The rest was utter shit.

Lady Luck was queuing up at the bogs at half time and didn't return for the second half.

Lose, lose or lose we'll still come back for more.

100% this. I felt like the players had said fuck this and tried to get hold of the game on their own without any instructions.

Rarely get a 45 of complete domination or playing well and frankly you don't need to if you take your chances either. We got 90+ that way just year
We didn't get 20 minutes of real domination though. We were better. We created more chances. But they sat back. I thought they were equally likely to score as us (on the break) and they could have had more if they were interested.

Easy to get carried away.

92 point on the field after an almost compete rebuild was very good. The play offs we blew again.

But as any Benjamin Bloom watcher knows, it’s the teams that show continuity and stability that in the majority of cases kick on.

Farke last season and look at Coventry today after some stability under Lampard.

Meanwhile, at S2, it’s all change and we’re. Rock bottom.

Price swallowing time. COH tried to be too smart and found out they aren’t. Time to admit that.

The scary thing for me (having not seen the game), is reading all the comments in this thread.

Sounds like we were good value for the defeat.
I will be put in the happyclapoer camp and I'm sure people will question my sanity, but i thought a draw at least would have been a fair result.

I say the next bit as a 'i was not calling for Wilder to go, but i did have questions/concerns about him', but i don't think todays performance was any different to a heck of a lot of the performances last season.

Obviously, the result was totally different.

Having said that, imo, a lot of last seasons wins by one goal weren't because of a watertight defence, but because of the poor finishing by the oppo (like us today).
