Most in our 2nd tier history
Happy now?
Kept Hecky 2nd season promotion
Leeds keep Farke 2nd season promotion
The owners have put this club in a downward spiral
See when our next Premier promotion push is and that will be how many years they've set us back
Wilder wouldn't be winning any games with RND and no wingers either. We're in this shit partly because Lord Wilder was addicted to buying League One quality players for 8 figures

I really don't think they appear to have the best interests of the club at heart, consortiums as someone else has said is about profitability! So we have a purchase price of 100m, within 8 or so months got approx 22m back and with Hamer going for maybe 10m, Peck 5m, JLT 500k, Campbell maybe 5m, Burrows 5m and Cooper 10m (total of 57.5m earth pounds) the whole purchase looks a whole (lotta) Rosier to them. Sell the club for 80m and voila keep the consortium happy! To the detriment of Us Blades! That could be nearly 40m profit in a few months, simplistic view but it could happen? Just my shitting of my pants scenario (fed up with bed wetting).
Im genuinely worried that this could be the case.

Biggest red flag for me is nobody being visible. Ryan Reynolds and that other fella are 100% not going to screw over Wrexham because every fucker knows who they are, and they'll have to live with it if that happens. Our owners are the opposite - we know some names but we've had absolutely nothing in terms of an actual human being talking to us about anything.

In the long run, for the sake of the long term health of the sport, a significant proportion of every club should be owned by the fans. Maybe a majority, I don't know the logistics of how it can work tbh. I'd rather we didn't implode in order to get that but I'm getting fed up of owners fucking up the clubs and the fans, who live in the cities and are the lifeblood of the club itself, but who can do absolutely fuck all about it as the centre of their community is ripped out from them. Time and time again.

Some people love what's happening at wednesday but honestly I find it worrying and upsetting. I see Wednesday as our rival but it's a sibling rivalry for me rather than outright hatred. I don't even mind then doing ok so long as we're better and have bragging rights. Hating such a central part of the city's culture is pathetic in my book and two good Sheffield clubs is what's best for the city. Even if our faceless owners aren't as bad as all that, Wednesday's fight with Chansiri is ultimately our fight and the fight of any fan that cares about the soul of the game.

If he didn't do any background checks and negotiations before signing on the bottom line then tough fucking luck. If he didn't spell out what he wanted and get the owners to sign off on it then again, how fucking stupid. If he did those things and the board are renaging on them then walk away.

if he's under the bus then he's partly to blame but I do know that should we have a set up as weak as we've currently got in 3 weeks time you can brace yourselves for one of the shittiest seasons in our illustrious but mostly shitty history.

UTBFTP 👊👊👊

We all laugh at Wednesday but at the moment our squad is nearly as threadbare as theirs. Maybe not quite but given the supposed differences in finances too close for comfort. There’s an urgency now to address the gaps. I always said that the true guide to our owners wouldn’t be if we went up last season but if we didn’t. Well there’s a small window (pun intended) for them to show us one way or another. I’m not one that gets too bothered about hearing from them all the time but there’s a real moment where their actions need to speak for them. What is our ambition this season? We’re about to find out I think
Thank the Lord we don’t have to play them till November…How embarrassing would that be?

Literally said the same thing in shoutbox. Well and truly shafted up the arse with no lube. No incomings for the weekend. Absolutely crazy. Genuinely have no idea what their plan actually is.

Not sure what everyone’s worried about. The snake will have an interview on SUFC TV after the window has shut telling everyone what a great job he is doing., whilst everyone is looking at the Bond guy and blaming him.

I look forward to that interview, knowing that you will be seething at the thought of it

Unfortunately

So on this thread alone everyone has said this happened under Slav, we had no team for Crystal Palace etc but the only person who was here through all of that Bettis. We have seen this movie so many years times but people will blame the owners for our transfer tactics.

Can’t really blame Bettis imo. Hes not the one investing, he’s the one spending at their request. If they’re not requesting, he ain’t spending.

What about all the years when we've had a good summer and got our targets in, Bettis has been at the club since July 2018, though he initially came in back in 2016, that means he's been at the club for most of the successful years and you've picked two of the seasons which were poorly prepared.

Incidentally, the season under Slav and the no team for Palace were both years we were skint as the owners didn't have the funds to put in or didn't want to put in. How was that Bettis' fault? Similarly this season with Selles, it seems that for whatever reason we've not bought a single player, so i would summise a lack of funds to pay for transfers since we have got loans players in

Bord, James Bord.
Crab Films brings you the first unlicensed Bond film since Never Say Never Again.

I’m interviewing for Miss Funnyfanny, I’ve called Connery but he’s not answering.

I’ve signed up Mark to play Bores (couldn’t use Jaws, the Broccoli’s wanted half a mil). He’s cheap though and I pay him in Tena men…

I think it’s easy for people to point the finger at Bettis because i) he’s the figure that people actually know and see at least semi often (compared to the invisible COH) and ii) for some reason the idea that he’s a snake has been perpetuated by the fans, both on here and generally amongst the fan base for some reason and then iii) fans are (rightly) frustrated that we’ve gone into a season looking so threadbare at the back and it’s not looking like replacements are queueing up at Shirecliffe ready to sign and not seen many grainy blurred photos from the bar at the Copthorne of new signings, and they need someone to take their anger out on, and Bettis is the easy target.

I agree it’s not his fault by the way.

Spot on

I have been a Blades supporter for 60 odd years and known some really deressing times as a United supporter. Those of us who have seen it all before will be recognising the red flags. I am worried by how quickly things have deteriorated in the close season and can see us entering a prolonged period of stagnation at best or aqperiod of decline. There is a lot to be very worried about right now:

  1. Most alarming is the lack of urgency and action from the club to strengthen a squad badly weakened since the play off final.
  2. The complete shambles of a recruitment policy and process
  3. Something is not right among the players. There does not seem to be an understanding of what we are trying to do. Players don't seem to be at it or together
  4. Clubs like Hull, (who are under an embargo for Christ's sake) have been to recruit far better than we have
  5. Lack of communication and clarity from the owners
  6. Allowing key players to leave before replacements have been brought in or even lined up
  7. Lack of progress or information about what is happening with the new training ground
  8. Are we beginning to see the real reasons why Wilder was sacked? I thhink he would have had plenty to say if he had been left in the situation that Selles is in. By the way, I undestand the criticisms of Wilder but at the moment I would take a couple of boring 1 -0 Wilder wins.
  9. I know we played some good stuff against Bristol City but the manner of the defeat and the capitulation at the beginning of the secpnd half was truly awful
  10. Last night's performance was staggeringly bad. I know it's only the Tin Pot cup but after Saturday we needed to see that some lessons had been learned and a better reaction
  11. What happens if someone comes in for Hamer? I think we all know. Why would someone like Hamer, Cooper or Campbell want to stay?
  12. People are saying we will end up in mid table. I think that unless things happen quickly it could be much worse.
  13. Selles sounds frustrated and pissed off already doesn't he?

I could go on. COH have shown thenselves to be very poor owners so far anf they need to step up. I really hope that in a couple of weeks we will have seen better performances, a couple of results and at least 4 decent signings to fill the obvious gaps. If not we are in deep, deep shit. Not as much shit as Wednesday perhaps but I don't find any satisfaction in that. And, by the way, their threadbare squad have put in a couple of performances and shown some fight and unity in adversity.

I will probably be slated by some on here for being a doom monger, bedwetter and being overly negative and that we need to be be patient and wait. Wait for what? Relegation back to League One? I really hope I am being overly pessimistic but I have seen much of this shit before from SUFC boards and owners and I do not like the signs one little bit.

Just one more little observation and side note? What about the treatment of Caceres? So we bring a young kid over from Peru. He makes a commitment to a massive move and upheaval for him. Next news we are talking about shipping the lad off to Dunfermine. I know he is well payed and priviliged to be able to play football for a living but he is also human. I am not comfortable with the ethics of this at all never mind what it tells us about how shambolic the recuitment policy has been.

Anway on to Saturday and Swansea. I am desperately hoping for a decent performance and results followed by some movement into the club to make me feel better. UTB
If Jeff doesn't want to go up Scotland then he doesn't it's his choice ,but if he wants to play regular then he will .

Yep - all optimism for the season is evaporating as we speak. It's becoming clear why we got rid of Wilder, who would be much harder to manipulate/ let down that Selles (which is no fault on Selles).

What a wasted season this is becoming.

How you can watch that video and suggest Selles is easier to manipulate than Wilder I haven’t got a clue! He’s literally said that transfer dealings haven’t been good enough. He’s could’ve easily made excuses and defended the owners but he’s chosen not to.

The bus is still parked up whilst driver is in bogs on his phone

Still 2 weeks yet before we all have to get off and go and catch a tram instead

From AI:

"The CEO and Chairman roles, while both in leadership, have distinct responsibilities. The CEO focuses on the day-to-day operations and execution of the company's strategy, while the Chairman leads the board of directors and provides strategic oversight and governance. In essence, the CEO runs the company, while the Chairman oversees the CEO and ensures the board effectively guides the company's direction"

So the Board will have given Bettis a direction of travel hold him to account whilst he delivers that plan.

In this case, the board may have said "we need to see a profit for the year" and he is then going through the process of approving sales and minimising incomings to do that.

so either way, its both parties who need to take responsibility for this, one for outcomes being set, and the other for the delivery of those outcomes which may result in poor performance on the pitch (which ultimately does then affect revenue and profit).

I am not panicking yet, I still maintain the argument that people like this buy football clubs to make money and although asset stripping is a thing, we also haven't sold any players that were a surprise with Anel and Souza a surprise in someways they hadn't been sold previously.

Scarborough are 100% owned by the fans within a Co-operative business model, for £15 a year you own 1 share and have voting rights etc at the AGM and then there are further options with season tickets attached to them to pay either monthly or annually. As a rebuild for a non-league club it seems to be doing well. We would have to be charging more than £15 a share if we were trying to buy the club outright however a 80/20 split of similar could be achievable on a increase based on our fan base especially if you add it to the season ticket holders and members together plus a few additional that would buy in based on the initial cost of the original buyout. It would then need changes to advise that the board need 85% agreement for x, y and z to occur. Complex but doable

Selles was brought in by the current owners, and would (you would hope) have had most of the parameters for the way things are expected to work explained to him. Wilder had his own ideas, and they didn't necessarily align. That's all I meant.

I thought there was a recruitment and a scouting committee. A few people deciding. Which is likely the problem.
We absolutely should have had a well-connected DoF from the moment the owners came in - suicide to sack a manager like Wilder and recruit a head coach like Selles without recognising that Stephen Bettis CANNOT do the resulting requirement for a DoF role ,
not on top of everything else for which he's responsible.

Why on earth did the owners not see this ?
They must be feckin stupid.

Anything other than challenging for PL and at least being a a Yo-yo club , sees them owning a loss-making white elephant of non-PL club , which could never have been their goal.

Did they know absolutely feck-all about English professional football before they bought ?
