We're in the period of the year where we barely have any revenue. Borrowing to have cash isn't unusual, especially if it's secured against guaranteed income. It could simply be to cover running costs for a month.

Loads of players start in league one, prove themselves for a season in the championship then make a big move. We all want £20m+ for Cooper, same idea.

Biggest issue in this is Hull being under an embargo and having to replace him with frees/loans. Receiving a big transfer fee isn’t going to do much good in the short term for them, so they might as well keep him.
