I have done it twice now.

The first time was in 1998 for the FA Cup semi final against Newcastle, and laterly for the tickets for the Luton promotion party.

Slept over night for Forest 1st leg, only to wake up around 8 and there was no one behind me. For some reason the sold the tickets from the SS turnstiles in the car park.

League cup semi tickets for Anfield in 2003.

Loyalty points is much more civilised.

Blackburn away for the Facup quarter final in 1993. Went to Southampton and we got straight in the queue when we got back. Fortunately the queue was quite big so they started selling them in the early hours of the morning :)Does that still count!

was weird that game at Blackburn , with all the ground closures , strangest atmosphere at an FA cup quarter final in memory

For the first game back in the old first division against Liverpool, went down at kicking out time on the Sunday night, nobody else there til about 5 in the morning, by 9 the queue snaked all the way through the car park. When Bassett arrived he brought a coffee out as he'd heard about the all nighter.

I also queued all night for Newcastle, but wasn't it 97? I wasn't a member or a season ticket holder at the time as I was at university and wasn't able to get over when they went on general sale initially so I queued all night when the last lot went on general sale.

I remember a bloke from a house on the corner of cherry st complaining about the noise from the 100-200 blades there

Twas 1998, Swiss. 1997 was the play-off final at the old Wembley (the one Wendy remember) v Palace.

Yes it was. Can't remember exactly but didn't we get less the 2,000 tickets?

1997 for the Palace play-off at Old Wembley. Seem to recall the queue going from the ticket office and into the ground itself. We go down there at a ridiculously early time, around four am and we were well back in the line, so there will have been many that queued all night.

Yep, I did that one too. I was one of the twats that didn't go to Southampton so I could queue from 7ish.

If I recall correctly we took loads more than usual as the glory hunters thought they might get preference for Blackburn tickets so apologies to any regular away fan that missed out but my strategy worked :-)

Lots of others too. I remember at least one Leeds away and several others that I can't specifically recall.

Loyalty points is a much better system.

Thought it was about 800? We got a couple in Blackburns main stand as a mate of mine was Jack Walkers sons best mate. Most of the players tickets went to the BBC allegedly :) and it was an interesting journey back on the service train
Yes it could have been as little as that. I recall plenty of Blades dotted around and plenty stood on the hills surrounding the ground.

I queued from 8pm the previous night for tickets for the Liverpool semi-final at Anfield and even at that time, the queue was back to the superstore.

In the 50's and into the sixties we had great cup runs. No Internet not even any phones. It was a regular occurrence to get up at dawn to queue.I've got a Sheffield Star photo for one of the games. I had my scarf and a rattle, there was a cardboard cut-out of a Wardonia razor blade and loads of scarved fans of all ages and it was only a queue on a Sunday morning. It just seemed a way of life in those days.

think it was only 1000 or 1200 and was on the terrace, we were near where the players came out, we got 2 freebies as my brother had died at Burnley in round 3

Ha ha! I remember that. Loads of blades just started playing football and he got well pissed off - he called the police I seem to recall and I think he got carted off for being too aggressive.

Done two others as well, both when I was a student in Birmingham.
Not a full all nighter but for the forest semi in 2003 I got a lift with some random guy from Birmingham who responded to a request I put on Bladesunited. He picked me up earlydoors maybe 4am. Can't remember for the life of me what his alias was now.

The other one was a full all nighter - same year, wolves play off final. I got the train up from Birmingham quite late, went straight to bramall lane and queued up all night.

I was in the queue too and didnt go to Southampton. Do you remember when we got in the South Stand at about 10ish cos of the cold? A drunk Blade had an argument with a one of the stewards and then wanted to fight him before he got thrown out!

Four of us queued most of the night outside Hillsborough for the game when we won 3-1, was it 93? Anyway the away end was massively over subscribed that night, so loads of Blades bought tickets for the North stand. You could buy six each so we ended up with 24 tickets. We passed on most of them to our mates at cost price, and the rest (not too proud of it now) we sold to pig fans at inflated prices. I remember we just sat in the Cremourne all day drinking beer on the proceeeds, while their fans traveled across town to us for the tickets. The cash we made also allowed us to get wankered on the night of the game too, and even stretched to a cab home from one of their "rough" pubs afterwards.

There was a horrible atmosphere after the game, and we had to try really hard not to smile and look happy. When we asked the barman to call us a cab we had to tell him we were going to Oughtibridge - we then told the driver there was a change of plan and we were going to London Rd when we were safely in the cab.
