I have been impressed by the lad at Crewe,on loan from Arsenal,Chuks Aneke and he would be good at BDTBL alongside either Jay Emmanuel-Thomas of Bristol City or Britt Assombalonga of Peterborough.
We need 2 goalscorers up front next season and either of these pairings could be the new Deane and Agana!
What are your thoughts?

Not Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. He's lazy, disinterested and comes across as thinking he's better than the rest of his team (which admittedly he is).

realistically doubt we'll any of those players apart from maybe aneke on loan. what about tom pope as an option?

When we played Bristol City at home I'm sure their own fans was singing to Emmanuel Thomas 'f*cking useless'

The way we play we either need a more mobile hold up striker or a quicker version of Baxter.

They cheered when he was subbed! Looked very lethargic and disinterested.

Aneke would be a great signing, or could we lure someone like Becchio?

Becchio is a great shout - definite Clough like player.

Still think a lot could depend on if Derby go up - if they do they are likely to strengthen and some of 'Cloughies' players will become available - likes of Sammon and Russell (I'd prefer Russell of the two).

Also would seriously like Darius back - or failing that maybe a cheeky bid for Matty Fryatt - maybe unrealistic but if we have the money - why not?

The lad from Preston for me, Garner.

Big, strong, mobile and very determined. He terrorised our defence all night, a few weeks ago.

Pretty realistic too, as I can't see Preston getting promoted any time soon.

It will take near a million to prize him away though, so we will just have to see where we are at the end of the season, and how things pan out over the Summer?

Exciting times to be a Blade!

Is Billy Sharp realistic?

Pretty sure Aneke is a midfielder, but a good one at that so would be a good signing.

Francois Zoko
Sam Baldock
Callum WIlson
Not convinced of Cody McDonald, but he does score goals so maybe him too.

Any of the above are better than we already have. 2 of those would fit in very well IMO

Aneke is a good 'un, but isn't he a midfielder on loan from Arsenal? Good player and always looks composed and would suit us.

As for Henderson, no longer what I think we would consider the answer in that position. We need mobility up front, but I also imagine Clough likes the alternative of a more recognisable number 9, but a forward with pace and guile is what we need, maybe two, as what happens if the other guy is injured? I've seen Sammon at Derby, can't say I was overly impressed. The way we now attack means we also need forwards who can break with speed and assist the midfield. An ideal squad is two decent players in each position, providing cover if injuries happen, with a few of those flexible enough in 2 or 3 positions if called upon.

I think Aneke is one of those players who could either be a striker or an attacking midfielder. Can't see us being able to sign him properly so a season long loan would probably be the option - but think i'd rather us sign a striker or two that we actually own? We need to see this squad build and we don't want to base that on loan players, however good they are. Up front has been such a difficult position for us for a long time now (Cheds good season aside and the Beattie season), its about time we found a good partnership that we can develop over the next few years and be an asset for the club. I hope to see Miller come good next season with this loan spell and a proper pre season behind him - he was showing such promise before the injury. Diego - who knows hopefully he'll be a revelation for us!! Bit stuck for suggestions though - it's difficult being in league one to know who you can persuade to come and play at this level if they are a current champ or prem player. Still think Wilson from Cov is worth another go - we are a very different prospect to the club who inquired about him earlier in the season!

Zoko? Is he still living off that game a few years ago in your mind?

Absolutely not, shocking player when he was with us, spent most of his time suspended or injured.

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

He did always split opinion - bit of a marmite player but has done a decent job in the championship for manay seasons. He basically tore Watford a new one in a televised game for Forest earlier this season and lots of Forest fans where I work in Derby say he is a big miss for them.

Admittedly his injuries and suspensions are of concern but he would be excellnt at this level - even if we got 30 games out of him.

Darius - no way, come on, Harry was virtually laughing in his face he was so rubbish the other week! We need some young, hungry players that want to take us up the leagues and prove themselves - look at the comment about Garner at Preston earlier up the thread - this is the type / age of player we want not some ex player has been! Soz Darius, didn't actually mind you at the time but don't want you back now!

Bet you wouldn't say that to his face though.

Agreed about wanting young, hungry players, someone with experience in division one would be nice, garner is a great suggestion, maybe paynter / miller, porter/Diego, Kahn/Baxter etc could be the partnership next season, sometimes it's the unusual ones that work, porter and miller seemed to work prior to millers injury.

Ha ha maybe I would... maybe I wouldn't - a few pints and who knows!! You are right about unusual combinations and the Porter / Miller thing. I think Porter gets a hard time, I know he isn't prolific but he works incredibly hard for the team and for his strike partner (when he has one). I don't think playing up front on his own so often has helped him at all. But we really do need that consistent goalscorer.

He is a midfielder, but you could be forgiven for thinking he's a striker, as he scores every time he plays against us :-)

He's been at Crewe now for 2 seasons and good as he is, I can't see him having a future at Arsenal, but he's probably better than League 1.

Zoko? Is he still living off that game a few years ago in your mind?

No, it's based on the fact he has scored 17 goals this season playing for Stevenage.

That is more equal to the goals scored by: Porter + Baxter + Miller + Paynter !!

Millar for Carlisle he gave Collins a hard time a the Lane could fit in i reckon

Bamford - the Chelsea lad on loan at Derby - the one that was at MKD earlier in the season
He won't get in the Chelsea line up and Derby won't get promoted
Unlikely he would drop to L1 again though - would have to get up this season for that to be a possibility.

Becchio is a good shout, though short term. He doesn't appear to be getting any game time at Norwich (is he still there)

Garner is a Preston fan and has done little away form there for a whole host of clubs - seems to suit him being at the club he supported as a boy.

I reckon Billy Sharp would work well in a Clough team and if he aint getting a regular game for the Saints then he might just come back again for one last crack - but only if we are in the Championship.

Other than that I would leave it to Cloughie - he seems to know what he is on about
