Last summer our first signing (Shackleton) was on the 4th July, with a manager who already knew the current squad and what positions needed strengthening.

Selles has only just met the players yesterday and will need time to assess the squad, so we might end up missing a few targets at first (not that there has been much business already) but the better players might not be available until later in the window.

We'll just have to wait and see.

We absolutely have a much healthier squad to start with than last summer.

Expectations have to be a auto push. If Leicester get the hefty points deduction(s) they are rumoured to get there's a good chance we will be in the mix under Wilder and just adding to what we did last year.

New broom means we don't really know how it's going to go but the expectations have to be just as high

I didn't want to carry on watching it either ideally but if it's style (and goalscoring) we're concerned about I'm not sure Sellés is an obvious choice

Its not so much the style or lack of attacking intent for me it's the way the side didn't look like it had been coached and had no control or way of controlling different moments in the game

So many sides we played last season looked better coached than us
Every pre season we start off trying to play out from the back and abandon it by the second friendly when we realise we dont have the players for it and then go with a hybrid of safe passes around the back and a hurried hoof when under the slightest pressure

It's likely Hamer will go, and Burrows, and/or Cooper or even Peck.
I hope not but wouldn't put it past us selling them. All depends on the new owners approach I suppose. That and who is brought in.

Personally I'd have guessed Selles would have known all that before he was interviewed for the job, what with it being a fucking obvious question for the board to ask at that point

First time since Hecky came in for Slav I have no expectations.

I’d say I had high expectations when Slav came in & curious with Wilder 2.0. I had no idea what we’d be like with Hecky & I’ve no idea this time too.

My biggest worry under Selles is will we be consistent, I just have a feeling we’ll be brilliant one game and toss the next.

We were consistent with Wilder to be fair. Pinched most games & at times we were hard to beat. We just never won the big games

I think I ( and by the looks of it most of the fanbase )
Have read between the lines and assumed we were going to keep the nucleus of the squad together and add maybe half a dozen quality additions in areas we were short last season

I'm getting the vibe now that with tge profile of player we are being linked with and the lack of activity with the dore training ground that we are entering a period of cloth cutting and targeting cheap young lower league players who I assume are scoring high data wise and will be seen as future assets

Listening to the ntt20 boys yesterday and they summed up perfectly their view on the owners who seem to have gone all in on this risky strategy at the wrong time when maybe sticking with what. We had might have been the safer bet

I was all for Wilder going and selles coming in ,hopefully the fitness levels improve and I think the squad is crying out for a coach to come in and take them to another level
But I think signings wise the highest profile player we are being linked with is Ashley Phillips and I think.all this talk of Barry, brooks ,doyle ect is just fans hoping, it doesnt look like they are the profile of player we are in for and I think that is a very all in strategy and makes me very nervous but excited

I think you will be lost for words by mid July couple of reight statement signings

Exactly my thoughts. The last 4 seasons have seen 1 of c.20 non-parachute clubs promoted each year, with no club doing a 3 year return.

Our new strategy this season may or may not work, but if we don’t go up then it’s very likely we’ll be back to being a mid-table championship team again.

There's an official statement from club which mentions 'patience' so I assume the expectations is very unlikely to be automatic promotion. It seems a more reliable source than 'random fans on a football forum'.

Oh we'll sign players, they'll just all be teenagers identified by SHODAN or else those spotted by friends of the board with absolutely no vested interested in a sale, whatsoever.

There's no friction between the board and the manager so there's no need for any potential signings to be leaked to the media to "push things along". Selles isn't dropping little hints to Nixon or Hall.

We have no idea of the types of 1st team player the club are targeting because the potential signing pool has grown so much from where it was under Wilder. That's not a comment on potential quality of player, but this ownership group has proven that when it is fully in charge of the information, stuff stays in house
