Mepham would be a huge upgrade on Robinson so I'd have no problem with signing him, particularly if it keeps Robinson out of the team. You can't develop younger players if they haven't got anyone to learn from. All teams need balance and some experience.

Reading this he’s done remarkably well to return (to ‘international football?!??)) in just over 6 months.
But:- “I shattered my femur bone in four different places. I had one single keyhole surgery. They put a pole in my thigh with four bolts, so screws and bolts to knit it back together.”

Not the optimal circumstance for someone who’s game places (considerable) reliance upon pace.

I think it’s a little harsh to call him injury ravaged, he’s made over 300 appearances and he’s still only 28.

Based on if Hamer, Souza, Anel and possibly Peck all get sold. We are hopefully looking at around a £50m+ windfall. I'd personally be looking at such players like these:

*All valuations are rough estimates.

We will clearly need more than just the names above but that would be a good starting point I would have thought. Admittedly one or two of them would be very ambitious signings. Then bring in another 3 or 4 squad players for cover/experience and then look to get a couple of the youth lads (Onè, Caracas, Marsh, Blacker) out on loan.
