Wilder was told last Week..

….. And is it not quite as classless as the previous regime having the replacement sat there as a guest as the club whilst Hecky was facing the full force of the Premier League giants trampling all over the players he’d been left with.

Again mate agree , felt for hecky at the time just the same

Thing is, no one knows the exact time-line of the moment Wilder was dismissed
Agreed and who cares. There’s a season to prepare for. What do people expect a mourning period. Wilder stabbed Hecky in the front when he wanted back. Reyt bit of opportunism.

No I’m not being anti Wilder or disrespectful I’m being pro SUFC, need to role sleeves up asap and be ready in 7 weeks. As for Hecky I said as soon as he got us promoted pay him off and get a PL ready manager in.

I got berated for that suggestion by the “he’s earned the right to have a crack” brigade. Bollox I say, do what is right for the club. Replacing Hecky (eventually) was right, replacing Wilder now to mesh with new owners is right for club.

Let’s see if owners vision and Sellés ability give us a winning combo cause clear as night and day Wilder / owners were on different pages.

Wilder left by mutual termination, so this hardly came out of the blue.

* Ring, ring *

"Hello."
"Hi Chris, it's Steven."
"Wassup!"
"WASSUP!"
"How can I help you lad?"
"Bad news Chris, we've decided to replace you with Ruben Selles"
"Ruben Cellars?"
"No Chris, it's pronounced Say Yes."
"Really? That's not how I would have pronounced it."
"Give it time. United fans still type Billy Sharpe and Michael Tongue, this will take a while for them to get their heads around."
"So you're saying I'm not going to be manager anymore?"
"I'm afraid so Chris."
"I thought all that talk in the media and online was just a load of bollocks. Well that's brand new news to me."
"Sorry Chris mate."
"That explains why the board called me in today to discuss me leaving the club by mutual termination. I thought it was just their way of attempting British humour."
"Afraid not Chris."
"........."
"Chris?"
"........."
"You still there?"
"....... Wassup!"
"WASSUP!"
"Well then, I guess it's goodbye then."
"We'll put out one of those copy and paste standard meaningless bollocks statements thanking you so the fans don't think we're being disrespectful towards you."
"Thanks mate."
"Fancy a pint."
"I'm good thanks Steven. I'm already at the pub now. Gotta go, one of my mates has just posted death threats to COH Group on their X account Honestly, I have to keep reminding him not to do this as it's doing me no favours."

Of course not a mourning period , ive watched football along time since 83 following the blades , maybe rose tinted glasses from me was same Hecky sacking dont like modern way and dont just think it about our board but across the game

Chris Wilder is a legend. His first spell, from 2016 to 2021, was brilliant—the Dog and Duck league to 9th in the Premier League. Left and came back, did his best to try and get us back up to the Premier League. Before Oxford away, we were top of the championship, and all we had to do was win our remaining games. We blew it, and they blew it big time in the playoff Final. We all know what happened on and off the pitch. I am not going to slag Chris Wilder off. He deserves my respect, in my opinion. He is the third-best manager we have ever had; only The Legendary John Harris and the Legendary Dave Bassett were better managers. Chris Wilder never lost to wendy.I thank Chris for what he has done for us, and I wish Him all the best for the future.

Damned if they did, damned if they didn't. 'It's too fast' 'why are we always the last to do our business'. Literally every time something happens at the club someone complains.

Nothing to see here, beyond bored people shouting into the void.

I am sure we didn't even have to win ALL our remaining games. We could still have lost to Burnley and achieved 102 points by winning the rest.

No one was keeping us up with that recruitment. Hecky must have known what the Prince was doing

My memory isn't what I'd hoped for, but I think we achieved a club record of 100 points in the 2016-17 season
in Div 1. Of course I stand to be corrected but I think that's our record for a season.

Think classless sacking wilder and annoucing selles within an hour you dont do that to a club legend , even though we all knew from last Thursday really what was coning
Should have had a month of mourning then cracked on with pre season

Too many Wilder fans on this forum and not enough Sheffield United fans, pathetic set of cry babies.

Yes, we should have waited until 3 weeks before season kick off, give the new manager less time to get sorted so he doesn’t hit the ground running. Very decisive of the board, shows the direction we are moving.

It's just life now, and especially football. I work for a very large US company (silicon Valley) and they start rumours of any impending structural changes before any official announcements. I'm 99% certain COH started the rumours days ago to soften the blow and then spent the rest of the time crafting PR, agreeing compensation with Wilder and then salary packages and contracts for the new coaching hierarchy.

Its called a soft landing. Not saying I agree with it but as owners they can do whatever they want. Similarly if the decision goes absolutely tits up by November and Selles is sacked, they'll do exactly the same thing again.

But let's back them and the new management team - who knows we could still have Hamer, Souza and Peck and have £50m of new talent at Selles' disposal by the first game of the season. Just as long as Jeff gets a few minutes obviously 😉

As I said before, we all knew Hecky was going to get sacked and replaced by Wilder before it happened. I doubt the club leaks it as they gain nothing in doing so. It's more likely someone inside the club leaking it without the club knowing, or more likely the manager's agents.
Or the manager's estate agent

What are you going to do now.

Hey things change. Could this be a start of a new golden era?
You never know, if the owners splash some cash and Selles has something about him we could become a stable prem club in the next year or two.

Be amazing to see the Blades do that.

I'm going to see how it pans out. I think top two is the minimum expectation and one I think is perfectly reasonable. If we're not in and around it I expect he'll be gone before the Christmas tree is up, if we are we're probably on to something. I'm not one to cry about a manager or player leaving. I'm also not going to carry on bashing him like the unhinged, toxic Wilder haters did all last season. That particular cult has left a bad taste - hopefully they'll grow up, act with a scintilla of dignity and stop crying about him in the near future. Here's hoping anyway.

Whether you agree with the decision or not, I don't think its classless at all.

The messages put out thanking Wilder and his team are the exact opposite of classless.

Had we sacked him ages ago and only just announced the new man, we'd all be moaning saying that it was a knee jerk reaction and there would be some saying we only got Selles because we couldn't get anyone better in that time and panicked.

How long should they have waited?
It should have been done and dusted straight after Wembley , release Wilder let the dust settle then appoint a new manager , but not Selles hope I’m wrong but I don’t see it as a move forward

They could have waited another month to appease you. Then you could have slagged the club for taking too long to bring in a replacement which now put's us behind every other club in the market for new players.

Alternatively “why have we sacked a manager without having his replacement in place?”

Appreciate the sentiment of the OP but you really can’t win in these circumstances, can you?

Yep it’s a reasonable point, not sure the OP deserved the attack dog treatment. In some ways, there’s no good timing to announce it so it may as well be done.

Sounds like Boro blade is going to back Selles regardless so let’s see what summer brings.
