Really?
It will take you a while to get back into football because Wilder is getting sacked?!!

Mate it’s just football, stick with it, could be a blessing let’s see
Hmm. Come back after six years in league one and let's see what you think then..
Let's hope that isn't our future!

This isn't a joke either some people are Wilder fans first and foremost:

This guy isn't the only one talking shite like this.

Not remotely surprised.

There will be a small minority of lifelong Blades who will revel in us failing next season.

So, it's out there now.

Gutted it's come to this but not at all surprised. CW has given the owners plenty of ammunition to fire him. Once they took over, or he first became aware of American interest, Bettis should have put everyone on notice about what US owners want, how they need to see things and that image/ branding plays a huge part in their business planning. Everyone in the club should have had their head down, shut up and got on with it until the review period was over. It's just self protection in the commercial world and what happens in a lot of places when huge take overs are happening. It is irrelevant what you think customers and clients want, it's all about the direction that new ownership and board want to take and how they research and frame it.
Simple, overarching commercial and personal responsibility and self preservation.

From that point, the viral videos, post Wednesday presser, disappearing act after the final and who knows what else they've factored in weren't good judgements. They're in it for success, US business folk are noted for REALLY doing their homework, and if you paid multi multi millions for the privilege of owning the Blades, you do get to call the shots.

But, we must remember that it was far from all on CW. Alan Knill deserves more mentions than he's getting. A quiet, utterly professional man who never let anyone down or said a word out of place. I'd suggest that none of the SUFC success CW had would have taken place without Knilly. Possibly the real power behind the throne?

I'll add the promotions, that time when McCabe was in charge, Wilder boss and Billy as captain, the title, 100 point season and that day at Northampton to the memory banks, and start to look forward again. Doing the double over Wednesday, honestly not that exercised over it. In the grand scheme of things it wasn't that dramatic, and, unlike some, I don't add too much weight to a derby game by two clubs vying for the claim to 'the city is ours'. I mean, really?

Keep it in perspective. I was here years before Wilder was boss, gone, boss again and I shall be until the day they stick that red and white scarf on my box and send me onwards.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the social media implosion settling down, seeing who nails the job and what happens from there. To be perfectly frank, I was bored with what I saw last season and hoping for better under the next manager/ head coach and new set up. I'm behind whoever gets it and good luck to them. Hopefully, they'll take a more measured view of local journalists and not keep them too close.

To CW, Knilly and all affected by the coming changes 'THANK YOU'. It's been fun, mostly, and all part of the Blades rollercoaster. Chris got to live his dream, twice and that's some achievement. I hope they go and relax, reflect and come back to the game if they want to.

Not sure who are worse those types or the ones absolutely revelling in the sacking one of our best ever managers and the way they can mock people who are gutted about it.

I mean the latter obviously, but you get the point.

No change from this past season then.

When the match day threads were littered with those who took great delight in blaming Wilder as soon as a goal went in against us but were very very quiet when things were going in our favour in a game.

I’d expect them to have the same enthusiasm for Selles if things are not going too well so no change at all next season.

I know where you're coming from but I've already seen two fellas I know this PM who have been regulars for decades, throwing the teddies out and saying we hope we fuck up next season the owners are made to regret it.
They might have been for decades doesn't make them blades ,we all know these type of fans always looking for a excuse to jump ship .

Ffs, second hysterical emotionally driven post today.

Please use the quote button to show who is “mocking people” who are upset about Wilder leaving (some reports saying it’s mutual) and “revelling in sacking Wilder”.

Most recognise Wilders place in the history of the club and his contribution. Also many feel it’s time for change, admitted many felt he should never have returned for good reason.

I get it, you're obviously angry with the owners and the rumours so vent that on them not fellow Blades wanting the best for the club.

The Bettis comment is surprising I thought everybody knew he was a forward thinking, finger on the pulse "modernist". Mmmmm !!!

Not reading past the first line of your garbage. But you have been absolutely hysterical over Wilder for weeks. Let's see how you are next season. Ignoring you now you're not worth anymore time

Surely he deserved another season?? Yes he made mistakes, yes he did and said the odd thing that he probably shouldn't have ...but.....he got us within 20 minutes of the Premier league with a side put together at the last minute. He was robbed of 2 of his best players for more than half the season..(yes I accept the failure to replace souttar was a mistake). Yes he relied on loan signings more heavily than in truth he should have, but, was that his fault? Despite this.. ...his team garnered 90 points, his team also oversaw the stellar development of sydie and to a lesser degree seriki and others, he signed coops and got a tune out of vini souza and tyrese Campbell....ffs. A bit of clarity and reflection is needed at times. Do we really trust that whoever comes in will do better???

Post me my hysterical comments.

Admit I’m not a big fan, he’s failed, he’s negative, he embarrasses the club off the pitch, he’s past his best for the club but they are opinions. I also admire what he’s done for the club but that’s fizzled out year after year imo (assuming opinion is not classed as hysterical).

Wilder deserves recognition for his “past” achievements but he’s become one of his own square pegs in a round hole for the owners ergo the club.

Clearly it’s the ones who want us to lose games and fail next season because it’s not their mate in charge.

And for the record I don’t really see much ‘revelling’ in this situation. There’s a lot of blades who are of the opinion that Wilder has reached his limit and if we’re going to challenge again next year then a change of manager gives us the best chance of doing that.

I’m not really taking a side, although if pushed I’d be more towards ‘he should go’ than ‘he should stay’ but if he does leave, I’ll be disappointed given the history and journey he’s taken us on, Wilder is a legend and should always be welcomed at the Lane but that doesn’t mean he should just continue to be our manager for ever because he’s one of our own.

Is that (necessarily) catastrophic?
Nope, not necessarily. It can work but doesn't have a good track record in football. Brighton have used it very successfully [in general] but the most reliable model seems to be Scouting/Stats/AI. Anyway, it's done now and we have to move on under the new owners. So far they've signed two sub-standard players, although I've no idea about the brand new player.
