I honestly can’t see what the piggies see in him. One of the worst home form teams in the league, yet they think he can walk on water. It’s a BIG no from me.

Like all things they see what they want to see they see something which fits into their wider delusions. In their own minds they’re a sleeping giant of English football waiting to be woken so they can become an established top tier side and perennial challenger for silverware. As such because he is a young manager who has seen some limited success with them it fits very nearly into their wider fiction if Danny Rohl also is destined for bigger and better things than 2nd tier football he too is destined to manage at the very top and compete for silverware. If only the chairman would show ambition maybe he and they could get there together. This is reinforced by the fact he’s quite analytically driven and communicates that well in interviews.

Whereas in reality what he currently is is a very pragmatic manager who’s done well to keep things on the rails in what is very clearly the mad house over in S6.

Can he be more in a more settled environment with better more talented players so he could express himself who knows but no one will ever find out whilst he’s there and I wouldn’t want to gamble on him becoming something he’s not yet shown himself to be here.

He re-signed 7 players last summer and signed 14 new players with the 7th highest net transfer spend.
If the calibre of the players wasn't good enough, Sausage signed 21 of them.

I think a bit this way. Do think he could have the potential to go far. But there are also many other coaches in that bracket too.

I haven't seen anything so far to suggest he is an absolute tactical genius that we've been told.

I think there's no question that he had them overachieve in his time there. They were all but relegated when he took over and he lead them to a comfortable midtable finish in his second season. Clearly made them better than the sum of their parts while at the same time having to deal with a batshit crazy owner who was putting spokes in his wheels at every turn.

If you leave bias out of the equation he is one of the most promising young managers around right now.

I think it’s not unreasonable to assume that those stats would be drastically different if Rohl had the same team at his disposal as what Wilder had. (Not saying I want this to happen though by any means)

Danny had conversations with our hierarchy while he was at the sty, surprised it’s not public knowledge by now.

Remember the compensation is triggered in full if he becomes someone else’s MANAGER. Always said we need a bigger team of staff to move us to the next level

To be fair, what other options did he have?

I think he's done pretty well on a limited budget (bar Ugbo...who knows if they've even paid for him) on a ship that's clearly been in choppy waters for quite some time. Must've been all-sorts going off behind the scenes there that we haven't heard about and to get a relatively poor squad to mid-table has to be applauded in some respects. Not easy to harmonise a team who aren't being paid. Do I think he's overrated? Yes a bit, no doubt - but that's not to say he hasn't done a relatively decent job there.
