If McBurnie comes back then that's the end of our football club. It'll just be a graveyard for out of shape, washed up nutters. We'll be in League One this time next year. I've had it with some of our fan base. Moronic.

What a drama.

McBurnie bagged 15 goals for us the last time he played at this level.

I’d definitely welcome him back. The ball actually stuck up front with him, he battled for the ball, showed some skill, scored a few goals.

Worry is injuries…

Absolutely not… we need to move forward not back.. another striker with 0 pace … would name a better CB than a striker

For us to bring in any striker they have to be better than Moore and Cannon( based on what we have seen from him so far). Whilst not ideal McBurnie is streets ahead of both of them

Promised much and delivered little. Reading the Transfermrkt report someone kindly shared seemed to sum up his career with us. Better at assisting than scoring, decent in the air, shooting woeful, rotational player - can't see that much has changed.

Chuck in the numerous injuries, the stupid yellow cards and subsequent bans, and the off the field nonsense and it's a firm No from me.

If one or both of them is being moved and Oli is coming as an option on the bench then fine … but there is far too many moving parts for that to be worthwhile.

The kid would honestly make a great CB and I’m not even joking.

I agree with the last 2 sentences, just not the rest of it

Cleared a fair few off the line as well. He always put a shift in, just went through hot and cold spells in front of goal

So a decent striker at La Liga level is available on a free, one who also has a very solid record at Premier League and Championship level and has previous links to the club and manager, which may aid us in securing him?
Solid record at Premier League level. He only scored 6 goals!?! What are you on about?

As for Championship level, he had half a good season, scoring 10 before the World Cup break before running dry for the rest of the season. McBurnie never has and never will be a reliable goalscorer for Sheffield United.

He's not there to just score goals though is he, that's not how we played him, unless you are re-writing history to suit a narrative?
He was the joint top scorer in our last PL season, which with 6 goals isn't anything special but it tells you how little we were creating for anyone else and his 22/23 scoring record would have made him our clear top scorer last season.

These are the facts. You don't want him back which is a fair opinion, it doesn't change anything I've said about if it's available he should be under consideration.

There is also a player available on a free with a 90% pass completion record , together with PL goals from midfirld with a recent European Final behind him too.

These are the facts, do we sign him?

I'm not necessarily against bringing former players back, unlike some who seem to think it's the root of all evil. I do however, think we should only do it on occasions when the player was actually any good the first time around.

Yes, he had a purple patch for 6 months or so out of his 5 years at the club, but he had Iliman Ndiaye at the side of him and he was 2-3 years younger.

The combination of becoming a father and spending a year outside of England might have sorted his lifestyle issues out. The question is, if he returns does he regress back to type?
And the Spanish game is different to Championship football. He struggled for fitness with us. Would his body stand up to playing twice a week? Or would we have another player who we can't rely on?
