Thanks to BalticBlade for pointing out that

Wilder is live TODAY AT 2:30 PM. Link below 👇

I will post some notes once I've watched it

As always, if you watch the SUFC ones on the club website, you'll need to log in. I'll add the SUFC YouTube clips and Sunderland's presser as and when the clubs post them, but if you find something before me, please add it to the thread.

I think there are a couple of player interviews today, but don't think these are press conferences

Interview with Goodman on sunderland news, ex mackam so I wonder who he wants to win?

Some notes from Wilder's presser:

He looked very focused, rarely smiling at the attempts at light heartedness from the journos. It's on !

An hour though ! 😭

Injuries & Absences:
  • "Physically we are in a great place, from an availability point of view"

Looking back on the semis against Bristol City:
  • "One of the best nights I've witnessed as a player, supporter, or manager at Bramall Lane"

Looking ahead to the final:
  • "It's going to be a proud moment [to manage the club at Wembley]. It's a great honour and privilege, but I've got to do my job right. We've talked about the reset after the Burnley game. Giving minutes, resting players. I've been delighted with the response."
  • "The narrative nationally and locally talks about our playoff record, but that's not touched us one bit"
  • Talking about us wanting to win, Wembley is "not a place for losers", meaning you do not want to be on the losing side there.
  • "I'm enjoying watching the players [in training], I don't think we could have prepared any better."
  • "Tactically, we've got to find a way"
  • "I was a bit critical towards the end of the season about the impact the substitutions had, but now they're having a big impact. We're in a good place"
  • "We're a winning football team. We know how to win and that has to be our focus on Saturday. We'll back ourselves"
  • "These players have come to this football club to play and win in big games, and there's no bigger game than Saturday"
  • On Michael Cooper describing himself and his style as 'chilled', "I've gone from one extreme to another. I've gone from a lunatic [with Henderson] in goal to chilled with Michael. Michael's contribution has been outstanding."
  • What does he expect from Sunderland? "I don't know. You could look at the the start of the season, or the time after that, or that last two games, so we will prepare [for their best]"
  • He talked about our bench and squad being in a very different shape now than it was when we played them away on new year's night. "It was an academy bench"
  • "[Sunderland] found a way to win [against Coventry] and they'll be looking to find a way on Saturday"
  • "[Sunderland] have some young players, but they have some experience as well. We've got a pretty young side too, but with that sprinkling of experience"
  • "We need to be focused individually"
  • "Hopefully we can remember George [Baldock] in a really positive way on Saturday afternoon. He's with us"
  • "We haven't tried to use [George's death] as a motivator. He's just been with us"
  • The fans "were incredibly supportive [in the playoff semis] and they will be on Saturday afternoon"
  • "We've given them some memories, but they've given me some great memories too. We want to add [the playoff win] to it"
  • Does he agree with VAR for the final, with it being the only game of the season that uses it? "Hopefully VAR doesn't come into action on Saturday and if it does that it's the correct decision". This was interrupted by a bleeping noise, to which Wilder responded, "is that the ball over the line? Is it switched on?" 🤣
  • Talking about not winning at Wembley for 100 years and never winning a playoff campaign, "There's loads of backstories. Now we need to get a win for everybody"
  • "The win record this season is 30 wins out of 48. We want to make it 31 out of 49"
  • On Callum O'Hare, "everyone has to fight for their place, and he's certainly done that. I get it, when he's sat on the bench away at Sheffield Wednesday and he wants to play." Wilder also asked whether Cal "ran around for 20 minutes" before he took a seat for his interview earlier" 🤣
  • Sydie Peck has "had to play well to stay in the team, and he's certainly done that", mentioning Tom Davies, Shackleton and Hamza who Sydie has beaten to a shirt.
  • We've seen what Kieffer Moore is for in recent games, with his all round game and goals? "He was like that at the start of the season [before his injuries to calf then groin]. To have Kieffer back is a great bonus, however we play, whether we go direct or down the sides. I've never put a goals target on him, he just has to be part of a winning football side. He's got promotions on his CV"
General:
  • Talking about last season and it's impact on him, "if you're from this part of the world and you get poked a bit, you want to come back roaring and swinging"
  • "You want to come fighting back, and we've certainly done that"
  • "The two teams above us had a fantastic season. I personally don't see [finishing 3rd] as a failure. Credit to them"
  • "Delighted for Dean [Henderson's FA Cup final win]. Dropped him a text and got one back. Delighted for him"
  • Dean is "England's number one, in my opinion"
  • "I still don't think [our 19/20 prem] season gets the recognition it deserves. Maybe we're unfashionable"

Interviewers: Rob Staton, Danny Hall, Stuart Rayner. There were four others that I didn't recognise the voices of, perhaps Leon Wobschall, Tim Thornton amongst them?

Cheers cappy these are always done well, its the likes of you and roy who make this forum so good, now if you see roy tell him to get the view from done

Ha’way lads and lasses. Hoping for a canny day out. I was absolutely clamming man. Sheffield's football is class, but I'm as sick as a parrot man.

Well that's got me in the mood and it's I bloody Tuesday.

Buzzing reading that. He defo sounds focused

I thought getting Craig Pawson in to give some insight into the workings of var was a wise move, l personally think it's a disgrace it's being used when it hasn't been a part of the season just finished, however having a Premier league ref in for a chat is sensible, fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
