Dean Henderson

Maybe they should adopt the Rugby and American way. After a VAR decision is made the referee should be mic'd up and explain the decision.

That or simplify the rules. If a keeper handles outside the area then that's that.

If the Hendo moment had happened against us what would your thoughts be?
Firstly, delighted for Hendo and Palace.

But…

It was handball outside the box. Whatever Haalands direction of travel was, I was always under the impression that any keeper handling outside the box is a red?

But happy Palace won

I say Var is spoiling the game. Glad Man City lost.
Well done, Hendo, man of the match, and congrats to Crystal Palace for winning the cup.
Alan Shearer commented. Year of the Underdog, Newcastle winning the Caribou Cup, Crystal Palace FA Cup.
I consider The Blades to be underdogs. Can we beat Sunderland? In my humble opinion, yes.

I think they just didn't want to ruin the game and chose to ignore it. Was obviously the wrong decision, but the game would've been dead if Henderson got sent off there.
If that happens to us on Satdi we’ll take it in the spirit of not wanting to ruin the game.

MIGHT change? All I know for sure is that we scored more than the other lot. What if this, what if that, is interesting but not relevant.

Well we scored a goal that clearly wasn’t so Germany clearly had to push forward to try and score an equaliser to force a replay, they likely wouldn’t be pushing forward that aggressively if the incorrect goal wasn’t given

There is no what if this or that, it would likely have still been 2-2, it would have been extremely unlikely that W Germany would have left Geoff alone like that

The ref was wrong in awarding the free kick that led to the Germans equaliser. Jack Charlton won a header fairly and squarely.

I think there was a handball in the build up, too.
If one goal had been disallowed, nobody can say with absolute certainty how the match would have finished. Nearly 59 years ago the match ended 4-2 and this is what the records will continue to show for evermore. I think Kenneth Wolstenholme's comment at the end of the match says it all.

This was of course legendary BBC commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme of -"They think it's all over. It is now!"- fame. Never knew until just reading about him that he'd been a bomber pilot during WWII flying 100 sorties over occupied Europe winning a DFC and bar medal.

If meant or not I am not sure however if he did he was very clever, as he batted the ball away from the direct run at goal, although clearly a free kick. the denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity part of thing like VAR was discussing is harder to justify. If it is similar to the offside law, if you are either last man or 2nd to last man and do x/y/z etc it might make it more clear but Hendo did find a grey area, only he will know if meant to do it or if he just thought he needed to stop the ball.

Chuffed for Deano

Deserves everything he gets most GK'S would happily spend 4 years on the bench at Manure

It was a stonewall red though , small margings VAR does its job hes cost palace the Cup Final but stayed on to be the hero

Well yes the factual accounts will say it ended 4-2 but your original point was it would still have been 3-2 if the controversial goal had been knocked off

It’s highly unlikely it would have played out as it did in match

He was promised a run in man utds first team and had just signed a 150k a week contract
Yeah, there was no way we could have signed him permanently.
IIRC he caught COVID just before the start of the season. De Gea got his form back and Hendo was left out in the cold.

Following on from the 1966 World Cup , if VAR had been used in future tournaments,Lampards goal would have stood v Germany bringing us back to 2-2 , (unless they were using the Villa Park goal line technology) ,,, and BOTH Maradona's goals (the hand ball one and the great run ) would have been disallowed ,, Back to the FA Cup Final , if it had been a keeper against us I would have wanted him given a red , if it was our keeper I would also have expected a red ,, ps pleased for Hendo OABAAB
