Will we sell out?

The ticket selling process this time has been much better than recent big games (Man City FA Cup semi-final, Leeds at home and playoff semi-final at home this year) purely because we've allowed two tickets per customer number instead of one. If this rule had been in place for the other games I mentioned, we'd have sold out or come much closer to doing so. The same draconian one ticket per customer number rule (plus a loyalty points restriction) is why we didn't even sell out our first game back in the Premier League against Crystal Palace in 2019, and I was able to get a ticket the day before the game.

From what the club has posted, it seems like this time it was the EFL insisting on the one ticket per customer number plus loyalty points rule. I'd guess this is a punishment for previous crowd issues. If so I'm glad they have now relaxed their stance.

I think if this system is continued in the future (two tickets per customer number, after a window of exclusivity for season ticket holders) it is a fair and reasonable way to sell tickets which is appropriate for the size of our fan base (for home matches, as well as for Wembley games). It will ensure that committed fans are able to get tickets while also giving us the ability to sell out matches and provide the support the team deserves. Other clubs may have large enough fan bases to shift 35,000 tickets on a one ticket per customer number basis, but that's not us currently.

I think there are a few points to improve the current system which, had they been in place for this match, would've ensured we'd already sold out by this stage while providing a better experience for fans.
  1. Two tickets per customer number communicated before the start of general sale, rather than originally saying one ticket per customer number and then changing when sales had already started- I know a few groups who bought fewer tickets than they wanted because of this and now won't buy extra because the website says tickets can't be ammended and the extra people won't go to Wembley to sit on their own.

  2. The website says that tickets can't be ammended once sold, but this isn't true- it's possible to ammend tickets by ringing the ticket office until the tickets have been posted. If the club was communicating this then more people would switch seats and add people to their group.

  3. Opening blocks earlier- again, some groups I know bought fewer tickets than they wanted because they couldn't get seats together, only for an entire new block to open after they'd already bought the tickets.

  4. Make the website more user friendly- I thought the game was sold out yesterday because the website told me that tickets for the match were unavailable. It turned out this was because I wasn't logged in. Friends messaged me saying the same.
I'm not on any fan advisory groups but would be happy to contribute, and I'd be grateful to those who are involved if they could pass my thoughts along.
This is a very good post. I live in Belgium and don't go often to matches so am probably less clued in than I should have been been. So at 2pm local time on Friday during a busy time at work I logged on and was confronted with a malfunctioning site and my 21 year old daughter's customer number not being accepted because her age could not be verified (I intended to use for a young pal). At that point there were hardly any seats in good areas and most were single ones.

Idiots like me though it was a near sell out and I just grabbed what I could. Three in the gods using my number and two others.

Then a short while later it's 2 tickets per number and a whole block opens with good seats in all categories and seats together possible.

At 54 years old and with waning loyalty among my nearest and dearest, I am starting wonder whether I can be arsed in future.

Upshot = people like me are the ones that help sell out stadiums. Mess up our experience and we will struggle and forever be labelled tin pot etc. SUFC doesn't have a massive fan base so can't do it this way anymore.

Not sure pal but got one anyway.

You don't have any warnings or infractions, I suspect you are talking about the automated message, which depending on the content, lets you know you could be subject to a warning based on a score from a language model :)

This map makes it look like we're taking over more than 55% of the ground! Even the tickets in 123 don't makes sense as these are available to us but go into the Sunderland bit......can't work it out
Look where the pitch is those new tickets are next to the full block of blades

This gives u an idea
That diagram is misleading, I think, because it suggests we have 527 when Sunderland's also says they have the same block - somebody posted a screenshot of the Sunderland version in an earlier post on this thread - given the 50/50 split, I think it's more likely to be theirs. Ditto 552 on the other side.

Yeh our stadium plan shows we have 50% of block 527….all the seats to the right of the gangway.
However the Sunderland stadium plan shows they’ve been allocated 100% of block 527.

So somethings gone wrong there.

Looks like we have around 100 left with the ones released lower down and block 524 (around 50) accounting for the bulk of these and then odd single seats dotted around.

I don't think they will open the other 2 blocks (nearly 2k in total) till they go and indeed may have a cut off of middle of the week where they can give them to the other team. They know Sunderland would snap em up quickly. Be disappointing and get the boring ridicule from them lot so be great if we could sell even a few hundred more to push into the extra blocks.

We have sold more than I thought so fair play to the fans but would think most who wanted to go will have sorted tickets now. May shift most of those 100 maybe at a push but not sure we have an extra 2k that suddenly go as better seats have become available?

I'd be curious as to whether it's possible to allocate more blocks to Sunderland due to the need to maintain segregation on the concourse below. I can't remember exactly what it looked like from last time, when I was in a section adjoining the City fans, but they'd need to segregate the access right down to the turnstiles and I'm not sure how possible that is for individual blocks.

Sunderland still have 500 left according to there forum mostly on upper tier don't think anyone's getting more tickets ,

Possible that some are swapping into 524? More release at edge of 123?

Block 103 - 5
Block 117 - 1
Block 121 - 2
Block 122 - 3
Block 123 - 59
Block 521 - 1
Block 524 - 45

Total - 116

Otherwise seems some more seats released into 123. Hadn’t seen the orange ones at the left flank before.

Yeah not really understanding the swapping if this is indeed happening. Sure loads would have preferred different seats to the ones they ended up with.

I saw a standing ‘seat’ available as I was having a look last night which I’d have snapped up if available at the time I bought mine but who knows what’s going on?

Not certain but otherwise how do you explain some going marginally up on occasion Emma’s 524 gets chipped away.

Nobody is waking up this morning having bought yesterday deciding not to go!

Are people just holding tickets in their basket which locks out a seat, then not going through with the sale.

You do seem to get your knickers in a twist wether we sell out games or not.

So have they put the last two blocks on sale for SUFC yet or are they holding them back?

Just trying to figure out the chances of SAFC getting any additional allocation.

19k corporate tickets is vile tbh, as are the prices being asked for them, particularly in the Sunderland side of the ground.
It's a joke
I don't know why they've got 19k corporate tickets for the game

Our play off final against Burnley we both had close to 40,000 tickets and the remaining corporate seats were still empty, the play off final might be the richest game but it does not have the prestige of the FA Cup final that these shallow twats want to be seen at.

They seem to have opened up half of section 123 at the front at £107 a ticket whilst keeping sections 525 and 526 back

Our remaining sales have now become difficult because there are only single seats remaining.

Opening section 525 would probably see a new surge of sales, but if they are waiting for people to buy a single seat before opening the last sections they will be waiting a long time

The atmosphere is going to LOUD. All Dem Blades singing Starman. Monday was quite emotional but Wembley will be something else
It should be our club anthem song for the day. A special tribute to George and also wonderful support for his family just confirming how loved he was and will never be forgotten. I'm sure the chip butty won't mind on this occasion.
