Will we sell out?

I have found and reconnected with, 2 cousins each with 150 loyalty points. I phoned the ticket office to explain they wanted to start going to matches and is there any chance they could so. They increased their loyalty points to 200 and they now have 2 seats together. There were 6 in the queue on the phone so give em a call.

Certainly the majority will have, but there will be some who have deliberately waited.

Having done North upper (Hull), North lower (Huddersfield), West upper (Man City) and East lower (Burnley), this time we decided to wait for the release of tickets that best replicated the view of the pitch that we have at the Lane from our South Stand seats.

So, although as season ticket holders we could have been in for tickets first thing, we didn’t purchase until last night - block 524.
Me too..523. Great view. I have friends who booked first day and the view ain't great, too low imo, real struggle to see far corners of pitch.

I think most of that might be your end; the system seems completely stable today (as indeed it has every day, apart from briefly going down on weds evening). Perhaps it doesn’t work so well on a phone?
They sold blocks on each tier from north to south as advertised, not cheap seats first.
Agree about not working as well on a phone.

However, my mate got a south ticket within a hour of the initial sale.

The ticket selling process this time has been much better than recent big games (Man City FA Cup semi-final, Leeds at home and playoff semi-final at home this year) purely because we've allowed two tickets per customer number instead of one. If this rule had been in place for the other games I mentioned, we'd have sold out or come much closer to doing so. The same draconian one ticket per customer number rule (plus a loyalty points restriction) is why we didn't even sell out our first game back in the Premier League against Crystal Palace in 2019, and I was able to get a ticket the day before the game.

From what the club has posted, it seems like this time it was the EFL insisting on the one ticket per customer number plus loyalty points rule. I'd guess this is a punishment for previous crowd issues. If so I'm glad they have now relaxed their stance.

I think if this system is continued in the future (two tickets per customer number, after a window of exclusivity for season ticket holders) it is a fair and reasonable way to sell tickets which is appropriate for the size of our fan base (for home matches, as well as for Wembley games). It will ensure that committed fans are able to get tickets while also giving us the ability to sell out matches and provide the support the team deserves. Other clubs may have large enough fan bases to shift 35,000 tickets on a one ticket per customer number basis, but that's not us currently.

I think there are a few points to improve the current system which, had they been in place for this match, would've ensured we'd already sold out by this stage while providing a better experience for fans.
  1. Two tickets per customer number communicated before the start of general sale, rather than originally saying one ticket per customer number and then changing when sales had already started- I know a few groups who bought fewer tickets than they wanted because of this and now won't buy extra because the website says tickets can't be ammended and the extra people won't go to Wembley to sit on their own.

  2. The website says that tickets can't be ammended once sold, but this isn't true- it's possible to ammend tickets by ringing the ticket office until the tickets have been posted. If the club was communicating this then more people would switch seats and add people to their group.

  3. Opening blocks earlier- again, some groups I know bought fewer tickets than they wanted because they couldn't get seats together, only for an entire new block to open after they'd already bought the tickets.

  4. Make the website more user friendly- I thought the game was sold out yesterday because the website told me that tickets for the match were unavailable. It turned out this was because I wasn't logged in. Friends messaged me saying the same.
I'm not on any fan advisory groups but would be happy to contribute, and I'd be grateful to those who are involved if they could pass my thoughts along.

It is, but email box office if you or anyone your getting tickets for hasn't got 200, and they'll make the account eligible..
Thanks for the tip. I emailed them & they replied straight away. I’d actually got plenty of historic points but they weren’t showing up on my profile for some reason. All sorted now, got 2 tickets.

I’m having a knee operation on Friday morning and haven’t bought one yet. I’m thinking of resisting until early Saturday morning to see if painkillers wear off and not too painful and then make a decision whether to buy to get a ticket. Does anybody know if I can buy them on Saturday morning as the temptation to just go on the day might be just to much to resist.

I’d email the United ticket office mate, or give them a call. They’ll be able to tell you.

All the best with the op!

I am likely to have a spare one you could have for free if needed.

Is there a direct number for the ticket office? I've tried 01142 537200 and got a recorded message saying that all offices are closed.

Having read the heartening posts latterly on this thread perhaps some folk may wish (to consider) their pejorative rhetoric about the ticket office.
I’ve always the folk there to be pleasant efficient & helpful, even in face of cockwomble gobshites who’s issue / problem is often of their own making
👏🥳

This happens to more people than people realise, not everyone has the points some have and they completely forget about normal life what contributes to people having less points than others. The ticket office does a great job in sorting this situation out.

I have had a look to see how many tickets are left, approximately 150 left in block 524-4 category.
Block 103-3- block110 safe standing 2. block 122-1.block 502-1.block508-1.block 509-2.in blocks 510-511-520-1 left.
block520-1.block 521-4.block522-2. around 172 tickets left. I think all blocks are open. But a lot of blocks sold out..
We are close to a sellout. Not sure if we can get more tickets, so best be quick to get your seat/seats.
Brilliant Blades Fans that egg in the face of those Deluded wendyites.

Yeah, new ticketing website only dates back to 2022ish and iirc everyone had to go through a process of creating a new account and linking their old account to it before loyalty points would carry over. Can well imagine thousands if not tens of thousands of eligible lapsed fans won't have done that yet

I reckon about 236 in total most in the 524 but good progress over the day.

Remains to be seen if other blocks will be added or if that’s it.

There is the tv camera area at the front of blocks 526 and 527 so might be a couple of hundred less tickets in those blocks than you calculated.

Looking at this picture and the segregation for the fa cup today, the seats netted off seam to be at the right of 527 (i think), netting a few seats off that block for segregation.

Sorry about the awful picture.17474916840612134033443766775141.webp

For me, and this might not be in Utds power, but the big map really needs to distinguish between

"Available"

"Sold"

"Not yet released'

"Unavailable"

That way people can see if it is worth holding on for seating to open up. The number of people posting on here seeking to change their seats is evidence enough to me that the current system forces people to buy early despite them potentially being willing to actually pay more for a better seat.

Someone gets it. Well said mate.
