Taken from the slopes of Kowloon Peak, looking back towards HK island.

The island to the right and just off the Kowloon coast in the 1962 photo, Stonecutter's island, is not an island anymore. It's been joined to the Kowloon Peninsula via land reclamation. No public access - it's the main Chinese Navy base.

Population in 1962: 3.3 million
Population in 2025: 7.5 million

I was supposed to be back at my boarding school for my 6th year two days earlier but my dad convinced the headmaster that we were on a family holiday. I was able to watch the Liverpool, River Plate and Crystal Palace matches!
I went to 5 games in 8 days, Preston away on Sat 26th Aug, Liverpool home on the 28th, Rotherham 3 Arsenal 1 on the 29th, River Plate on the 30th then Crystal Palace at home on Sat the 2nd Sept.

It's Sabella! He had become a father that day. I wasnt at the match because I was playing football that day but I remember my dad saying Sabella was brilliant in the game despite that we lost 1-0.
