Poor lad won't know what hit him if plays at the lane infront of 29,000. Looks like northern counties league or whatever it is called. Not well attended
Melgar's stadium is bigger than Bramall Lane.
He's probably played in front of more than 29,000 at some point.
Yep, their stadium holds over 40k and some games were getting over 33k
Just thinking outside the box slightly and might be getting carried away a little however with Jefferson Caceres that we signed from Melgar in Peru, looking at where that is based it is in a place called Arequipa which is 2,300 metres above sea level which in most is more than 2000 metres above sea level than Sheffield. Thinking about fitness and conditioning, players such as Caceres have a natural advantage as they are used to having to perform fitness wise at serious altitude. Just for context the summit of Ben Nevis (the highest peak in the British Isles) is 1,345 metres above sea level. Looking at the montage he appears to have some serious pace and a powerful shot too, if he has half a football brain we potentially have a very good player to develop through. Easily with similar characteristics of Ndiaye and potential to drag us up to the next level.
That’s a great comparison, I think it could be a productive market in a sense. We are bound to have misses if trying to pick off some but a few mill here or there is pocket money even in the Championship these days. Although it doesn’t guarantee the whole package fitness and a player than push on right to the end of the game is definitely a good start, imagine introducing that type of pace at 80 mins in a tight gameMy son plays with a couple of Colombians who recently moved from Bogota and they are miles fitter and quicker than the other kids on the team even at 12 years old. That’s 2600m above sea level.
It doesn't seem to translate to professional athletes though as otherwise there would be a lot of South American world class distance runners and there aren't (there are a few cyclists though). My son plays with a couple of Colombians who recently moved from Bogota and they are miles fitter and quicker than the other kids on the team even at 12 years old. Teofilo Cubillas - what a legendHave always had a soft spot for them since they beat Scotland in WC 1978. I was only 5 but still great
He’s moved to Sheffield though, he’ll eventually baseline won’t he?It doesn't seem to translate to professional athletes though as otherwise there would be a lot of South American world class distance runners and there aren't (there are a few cyclists though).
The South American powerhouse teams have sometimes found it difficult playing Bolivia and Equador away from home as both capitals are above 9000ft and the altitude acts as a bit of a leveller.
A diet of chip butties and builder's tea (two sugars) will soon get him down to the English levels. He’s moved to Sheffield though, he’ll eventually baseline won’t he?

But prior to big athletics competitions a lot of athletes go to countries for training at altitude. Also don't think just South America as high altitude a lot of African countries are as well And they dominate middle and long distance runningIt doesn't seem to translate to professional athletes though as otherwise there would be a lot of South American world class distance runners and there aren't (there are a few cyclists though).

Beautiful shirt/kit. A true design classic, along with Argentina's and Brazil's strips.
To be fair to the lad if you have come from that type of footballing background and you have the chance to prove yourself in the U23s and potentially a side that has been in out of the Premier League, you would be. I don’t think many wake up outside of being a blade of dreaming of playing for us but if it’s a stepping stone to a pro career at a top side or even regular income in the Championship on decent wages he has to be buzzing.Never seen anyone looked forward to a season in the under 23 's so much
We really have arrived
Jefferson is , saw a photo earlier of him in piccolinos with a united fanAre either of them actually in the country yet? When the rumours originally came out it said they were being flown to the UK.
Currently only Holding is on the squad list at https://www.sufc.co.uk/teams so they've updated it but not added Jeff or Chris.
Peru have the best kit of any nation, bar none.Beautiful shirt/kit. A true design classic, along with Argentina's and Brazil's strips.
He was a star in the 1978 World Cup, played in the 1982 one tooTeofilo Cubillas was a favourite player in the 1970 World Cup final in Mexico, what a player, if Jefferson can hit goals like him, they will be net-busters.
And Chris?Jeff meant to be impressing loads in training with his dribbling. Hopefully gets on the bench soon.
Not sure his permits have been finalised yet.And Chris?
