Where’s your plan A & B Wilder?

Why have a plan B if "the numbers" and "probability" suggest you should just keep doing the same thing over and over again?

No identity, no style of play, no idea on how to beat these as a plan A and zero changes apart from chucking the cavalry on and hoping for the best.

What was our game plan tonight?? Just hope we were better individuals?? Fucking shite.
Wilders never had a plan B to be fair. Very lethargic to make changes, panicked and threw the kitchen sink at it towards the end.

He is doing exactly as he did the previous time. Plan A is just much, much less successful now. Goal difference could well be massive this season, we've fully just fucked that now

For me it's more of a worry that despite practically having no midfielders fit, we stick to a formation that requires 3 and continue to play our main supplier of chances from the left in centre midfield where he doesn't look comfortable.

I'm hoping this and Swansea first half was a 'one and a half' off, but given how stubborn he is I'm not so sure

Fair comments.

Were threadbare but even at 0-2 it wasn’t panic stations. We had a goal ruled out wrongly.

But to dismantle the little midfield we had like that is a disgrace.

Bringing on so many attacking players doesn’t work when you’ve no midfield.

Moving Peck to RB despite Gilchrist having his worst game was suicidal. It left us with just Souza in the middle

O’Hare doesn’t work without Hamer and provided nothing, didn’t link up with Brooks/ JRS, Campbell, BBD and Cannon.

The best link up was Brewster and Campbell, again like v Swansea but we killed that with losing the midfield

A game to forget. Wilder went through plan A to Z and back…

He made changes.
We equalised. It wasn't offside. Different game then.
We made that many changes we were soft at the back.
He also made changes at 2-0 which completely blew everything up again.

Agreed. When did we last score a header? 8 first half corners and no attempts on target, no keeper saves.

Within the first 5 minutes we'd hit two hopeful passes down the channels which is classic Wilderball.

Our press makes no sense either. Stand off their keeper but leave someone free in loads of space. When they inevitably receive the ball, move towards them with little urgency and let them pass it to someone else who is free, before closing them down with little urgency. All our players mark the space and leave the opposition with time to do what they want, and this includes on the edge of our box too. Whereas we're constantly being closed down quickly while moving the ball amongst our defenders and keeper before launching it towards Ohare and letting him battle it out with defenders that are twice the size of him.

There's more I could moan about but I really can't be arsed.

Odd isn't it?

Play for set pieces with a pretty small team, who never score from set pieces.

Startling lack of creativity and players comfortable on the ball.

What do we do in training?
You mean whipping balls into O'Hares head on the edge of the box doesn't almost guarantee goals?

Leeds and Sunderland make us look like Colchester

We don't have the ability to pen teams in and put them under pressure. It's fucking crap.

1-0 down today, and we didn't have any sustained pressure even when Souza et al come on because we don't know how to do it

We haven't got a style of play. This season smells so badly of the Hecky promotion to the point that it would be a carbon copy but for relying on Ndiaye to do something to change a poor team performance. Why can't any Blades manager get a tune out of whatever players they bring in. We've waited half a season for it to click and it hasn't but for the occasional game against truly awful opponents. If promotion goes tits up then this is on Wilder for his lack of plan B and stubborn insistence on playing one formation and one formation only, no matter who he had available.

Why not play BBD and Cannon up top together tonight in a 442, which would allow for straight swaps from the bench? Nope. Drop RND for McCallum and problem solved. Surely he saw how ineffective and wasted Burrows was on Tuesday.

We didn't lose tonight because of injuries or tired players. We lost because of Wilder's stubbornness and teams exploiting our weaknesses which he keeps putting out and making it easy for them.

Utter crap tonight.

I don't buy into this "we're top two, why are you moaning?" We've been poor on the whole all season but won as we had a rock solid defence protected by Souza and Arblaster. We've been poor for months now and there's no sign that we're going to turn the corner and put in consistent performances over 90 minutes. Results or not, performances must improve.

There was a throw in near the corner flag in the first half taken by gilchrist. It went back through the midfield to the left. Then back through the midfield to the right.
This must have happened 6 or more times slowly working further and further back towards our goal until someone lumped it straight out for a goal kick.

Constant back passes suggests to me that the players either don't know what to do when they have the ball as

A) they're thick and crap

Or

B) they've been over coached into playing a system that their natural decision making instinct has been taken away and now they play paint by number football.

Considering how we were last season, plus the summer clearout, I think it's pretty miraculous how well we're doing overall. Look at Luton for how this season could have gone.

So complaining that we're not a great attacking side/don't have exciting attacking style, feels greedy and pretty unrealistic.

Let’s be honest here Blades…we all knew a result like this was coming down the track. Our mediocre performances of late have been largely overlooked…because we came away with the points…and that’s all that matters right??
Yes, promotion teams do have blips, but it’s rather concerning that we didn’t see this train wreck of a performance coming.
Genuine promotion candidates don’t capitulate like this.

The last 4 home games, Burnley, WBA, Norwich and Hull have seen all four teams start quickly straight out of the blocks. They've all taken the game to us.

Bramall Lane is no longer a fortress and teams will become more confident upon watching tonight. Teams are not cautious in their approach fearing an onslaught.

There are major concerns being expressed on this forum. But with one win, one draw and 2 losses I'd hardly call it a knee jerk reaction
