Someone could write on Wikipedia Joe Root is shocking and that's being kind and until someone provides evidence that isn't true it stays on there

They tend to ban trolls so it's self policing in the main!

I always thought so,he used to go on with 30 seconds to go,not touch the ball and the whistle would blow and he would walk off,bet they didn’t even wash his shirt

This looks like it’s actually happening, so has become worth thinking about. I have mixed feelings.

1- I’m not a huge fan of Cannon as a player from what I’ve seen (total eye test, probably only 3 or 4 games). To me, he doesn’t stand out though at 22 he should improve. But whatever you think of him he’s not a £10m player, especially for a championship club.

2- The forward line now looks stacked, possibly too stacked as I’d imagine some players will not get enough a game time. Hamer, BBD, Cannon, Moore, Campbell, Oné, O’Hare, Rak-Sakyi and Brooks is serious talent.

3- £10m! Whilst we’re in the championship! We’re no longer plucky little Sheffield United. It’s encouraging the new owners are willing to spend that much and back Wilder (I still have fear that they’ll sack him as soon as we have a bad run).
True the forward line does look quite stacked, but without BBD and Cannon, there is an issue with proper depth.

ST: Campbell, Moore, Brewster, Oné
LW: Hamer, McCallum
CAM: O'Hare, Hamer, Marsh
RW: Brooks, JRS

Add Cannon (ST) and BBD (ST/LW/RW) to that list and our forward depth is sorted, and move Oné and Marsh out on loan.

They say he loves it at Stoke?

Yeah I bet he loves having a different manager every other month!
I loved the joke a Stoke fan made before Christmas which went along the lines of,’I don’t mind having a new manager every two seasons, but I didn’t expect those seasons to be Autumn and Winter’

Why do they give a shit about Tyrese Campbell! They booed him every time he touched the ball when we played them
😂 And then gave him even more grief when he shushed them after he scored.

Cannon and Campbell to bag a hatrick each at the Bet365 🤔, with Harry Souttar stood in the away end singing "Campbell/Cannon, they left cos you're s***"

Don’t forget Moore needs an Op, and we’ll RB will do well to both finish the season playing and get another goal!

One is a boy learning the game and it shows. So without the arrivals of BBD and Cannon we are basically going to be relying on TC.

Club can pay whatever it wants for Cannon ,
As long as they leave plenty for a CB as good as Souttar ,
Coz that's where our biggest hole is.
The one which will sink us if it's not filled.

Agree we need reinforcements at the back but even without Souttar we have only conceded 4 in the last 4 games....not too shabby

Even taking inflation into account this will be our highest transfer fee ever paid whilst in the 2nd tier although in relative terms the fee for Beattie was huge at that time.

Thinking back you can't fault McCabe for putting some serious wedge in to try and get straight back up that season. His only fault was giving it to that clown Robson.

Beattie got the highest ever Championship wage at the time (£40k a week) and we had the likes of Hendrie and Ugo on £20k plus.

Not that comfortable with that useless arrogant orange wankers name being in the same sentence as Ogo’s.

Every year.......

Please everyone write this down.

Not like the olden days when everything was set in stone.

Paul Merson was on 40k a week in 1997. Robson again. I think McCabe wanted to do what Gibson did 10 years before

Unfortunately, not sure Merson has much left. Probably had very little left in 97. Great player and amusing pundit though

With Tom Cannons transfer fee reputedly being £10 million plus add-ons up to £13 million and some of us raising an eye brow at this I thought I would have a little look at comparable players and their records.

These stats relate to all football played professionally since they were in the U18's

Tom Cannon, Age 22, games played 55, goals scored 73, 1.33 goals per game, Transfer Fee £10-13m
Jay Stansfield, Age 22, games played 56, goals scored 76, 1.36 goals per game, Transfer Fee £15m
Liam Delap, Age 21 (22 in Feb), games played 51, goals scored 68, 1.33 goals per game, Transfer Fee £20m
Cameron Archer, Age 23, games played 44, goals scored 54, 1.23 goals per game, Transfer Fee £15m

Perhaps it's not as bad a fee as I initially thought. It's definitely the going rate, or just under, based on my small sample.
You missed Will Osula off!!!🤣

Remember Moore needs an Op, so he won't be around.....hence 2 new strikers not just 1.

All 4 scoring more goals than they have played matches ? Really ?

All 4 scoring more goals than they have played matches ? Really ?

Yes , I thought the same when I saw those figures and have no idea where they came from .

As just one example , just a brief bit of research shows that in his last 89 games for four different clubs Cameron Archer has scored 24 goals and I am almost certain that none of the others will have scored more goals than games played.

Very strange .

Nah not stacked. We needed 2 forward players in bloody August! Some of our forwards are either inexperienced or had injury problems. We needed these 2 signings.

We have two forwards, both of which have been injured this season.

We then have Brewster who is perpetually injured or getting up to speed.

Start with BBD as soon as we can and get Cannon up front. Anything from the rest we can count as a bonus.

Been laid up with flu this week so between nap times and lemsips I’ve spent quite a bit of time reading various forums.

I’ve found some of the views absolutely bizarre. As a player I’m still not 100% convinced he’s worth the fee but fully behind him now it looks like he’s joining us.

Stoke -
They cannot comprehend that we probably had a deal agreed for him in the summer but ran out of money and had to pull it. He definitely chose them over us. He’s now totally fallen in love with the place and simply cannot see a scenario where he would rather play for United over Stoke. We’re shite apparently. He’s probably getting forced out by a greedy Leicester which won’t sit well with TC and he’ll regret not finishing his loan there and signing permanently in the summer. Playing in the premier league doesn’t count if it’s for the blades cos we’re shite remember.

Sunderland -
Genuinely believe they’re playing a brand of football never seen in the second tier before. Enzo Le Fee is the equivalent of signing prime Iniesta from Barcelona and United are only signing BBD and Cannon because we’re shitting ourselves at just how spectacular they are. They were never really interested in Cannon and it was just a tactic to get us to spunk our load on him while they mop up the real talent when we’re spent up. There’s no other explanation for it. No way on this planet would a player ever choose to play for us over them, never mind two in a week.

I don’t know if our kidney punching reputation has now caught up with us but both Stoke and Sunderland fans say they can’t stand us. We’re shit. Shit fans, shit city… just shit shit shit. Oh yeah and Wilders a horrible wanker as well you know.

And parachute payments. The only reason we’re towards the top of the table is parachute payments. Forgetting that both of those clubs have had parachute payments in the not too distant past and squandered them. Sunderland managed to get themselves relegated while in receipt of parachute payments. Stoke spent a combined £20’m on vokes and afobe.
We had to get promoted from league 1 to get them, actually on a shoe string but that’s forgotten about now.
