I think he will be better for Sunderland than he would be for us so I'm not disappointed we didn't get him (especially at that price) but also worried Sunderland will have a very good second half of the season ( the other signing being good too).

I will say Sunderland throwing the money around presents additional pressure for the new owners. Needs to be some names in pronto.

Yep …fair play to Sunderland’s owners though….they clearly feel after an unbelievable start to the season - now is the time to go for it big time. It’s very much shit or bust though - although I guess they will just cash in on Bellingham if they miss out……gambling on him not getting injured either though.

Not a problem, Wider has repeatedly assured us he has options to move on to. Yer know, Plan B

Sunderland fans on their forum don't seem keen either. The lad must have something but nothing stands out to me right now.

Go and get MCBURNIE BACK

Cannon is just a half decent goal scorer, better at finishing than McBurnie but when he’s in the mood McBurnie offers more, a better all round game.
Another factor is that Cannon is still young, playing in a poor ish Stoke team, so might have room to improve.

Always thought McBurnie is a player who needs to be fired up to show his best.
I actually remember an interview he gave on Talksport when the league had been suspended during Covid and there were rumours the league would re-start in empty stadia. McBurnie said he doesn’t like the idea of playing in empty stadiums and said he tends not to perform well during training but said that when he plays in a full stadium especially when the away fans give him stick, it really spurs him on.
He admitted he loves to receive a bit of banter from away fans as he believes it makes him play better. This just shows his mentality.

I’m still a little on the fence regards McBurnie because we’ve seen him make a big difference in matches at Premier league level but a week later he’ll play against a league 2 side in the cup and McBurnie will show zero technique or effort and look seriously crap. He has potential to be a good performer but if I was forced to choose I’d say “no” regards McBurnie, however Wilder knows him well and apparently he’s a good character to have around the club.

It’s more difficult to make a rational judgement on McBurnie because he looks like cat weasel (a bit of a tramp), has one of the worse running styles ever, similar style to Steve Claridge, grimaces and limps whilst running as though he’s constipated and to round it off, he talks with a terrible AliG style Leeds accent.

So if so.... we've flashed wads of cash for a player before even getting in the other 3 or 4 that we need. Which will drive up their prices. And we've not even signed the first player. And he's gone to a direct rival. Hahaha

If he goes there I do think he'll do quite well, and so will they. But that's preferable to me than us blowing crazy money on him

I would be interested to see how he got in our new set up. I totally understand people not wanting him back but I think he immediately becomes our second best striker behind Campbell

Rocket man just refreshes twitter for info

Not quite sure how social media works but are we lead to believe he’s messaged a mate 1 word on an open social media platform?

Had my young social media forensic team on this, screen is locked, is that important?

Apparently the lock means it’s not on public view, only way that can be shared is goalie mate screen shotted it and made it public. Reyt mate or deep fake?

Reverse psychology, he’s coming here ;)

It's interesting that Everton and now Leicester have both decided he's not good enough. Worth a punt at 5 or 6 million, but at 13 mill Sunderland can have him.

The goalie screenshotted it and sent it to his Sunderland supporting mate. The mate sent it around to his mates and someone quickly stuck it on X it seems

No doubt the mate was asking the goalie about Cannon so if the goalie wanted to wind his Mackem mate up this would be perfect. So it’s not certain to be legit and maybe just a wind up.

It’s also possible that this Brad Young has faked the message to wind up his mate. That would be hilarious! 🤣

If he’s gone to Sunderland, then so be it. He’s not the first player to choose another club over us and he won’t be the last.

Just got to trust Wilder and the recruitment team.

That’s the part that seems odd to me, if a mate text me with big news like that, my first thought wouldn’t be to screenshot my locked screen as proof.

Maybe it’s a Gen Z thing and that’s what young lads do, but I wouldn’t think about needing proof, I’d open the message and congratulate my mate.

He’ll be on a reyt promise if he stays with his billionaire boss and gets promoted. If he doesn’t he’s a free agent int summer and can get a good signing fee a la O’Hare
Or we bang 7M on the table, along with 20/25k a week. Cash back.
