As I said a couple of weeks ago, I've seen nothing to suggest we'll pull clear of a relegation scrap any time soon.

..it should at least stop dead in its tracks the play off delusion that some people are suffering from. Staying up is still the only priority we should have this season.

I don't think you'll see much delusions on here zablade.

Wank before, wank after. Avoid relegation, clearout.

Having beaten 2 of the 17 sides above us in the table, why would we not suddenly win most of the remaining 16 games against these teams in the second half of the season ?

Oh, yes the players we have and the number of goals we have mustered so far.

What a job Clough has taken on

Surely no one really thought we would challenge for the play offs after Weir left us in the mire? having said that I still maintain with a decent forward in January we will finish comfortable mid table.

Then as said above a mass clear out of the deadwood in the summer.

We won't go down, bet your house on it.

Because all these players, including George and Harry are senior players. How long are we going to keep on blaming managers from Wilson, Weir and Clough etc; when these players keep reverting to type.

It gets tiring all the guff what comes out of a dressing room after every defeat and I think it's time we stopped protecting them.

Ermm.. it's our first defeat in nine games.. calm the fuck down.

In the end, the players aren't good enough. No matter what is said or done, there's nothing that can remedy basic lack of ability. Get rid of as many as we can, and add the money raised to the investment fund. Sadly, I seriously doubt we'd raise £1M for the lot, but at least contract expiries will force the issue shortly.

why not go up ,
wednesday went up via the play offs in 2005 beating brentford and hartlepool , one had lost 17 one had lost 18 , weve lost 11 we could lose 5 /6 more and its feesable , and weve played all the top half clubs away , walsall 7th being the last

perfectly calm dear.. I don't see anything irrational in what I just said so feck off

so you think it's rational after our first defeat in nine to want to see the manager publicly lambast the players? Brilliant man management that would be.

No what he should do is come out and say how well we played in the 1st half and that we just weren't at the races in the 2nd but nevermind hey. Got Villa on Saturday and we hope to play better then.

These players have been protected for too long, they need to stand up to be counted.

With a username like yours, BTL you've clearly not grasped the connection between United and vital games.:)

More concerning to me is the fact that most seem to believe that , after survival this season, promotion next year is a formality.

By going on an 8 game unbeaten run. By adapting to a new manager and winning/drawing games to at least give us a reason to be positive. By taking the lead away from home, even if they eventually lost.

Now is not the time to have a go at them. A lot of them will already be looking over their shoulder given it's January and we've already shipped Taylor out.

Quite.

The fact that we are still in the relegation mire after that run only further highlights just how adrift we were after Weirs time.

I don't think we will go down. And I'd rather not be in the position we are in. But I'd rather be in our position than that of a team who started the season well and have dropped like a stone and are in the same area of the table. At least we have form on our side...

I don't think blasting the side would be very smart. Worst squad we've ever had, having a go at em for being shit isn't likely to make them any better.

You can't get a donkey to win the cheltenham gold cup, no matter how hard you whip him. But dangle a carrot in front of his nose and he may just get round without dropping dead.

I saw the four games played over the Xmas period as a springboard to take us away from the bottom of the table and toward safety.

Unfortunately, we were unable to beat Stevenage, who are now bottom, Oldham, or Walsall, making it 5 points from a possible 12, and lo and behold, it feels as though we're back to square one.

Still, I s'pose it could be worse. We'd probably be bottom if Weir was still here.

utb.

Have us fans fallen that far that we still accept that after bossing the game in the 1st half that not coming out for the 2nd half is ok just because we have lost only 2 in 10.

1 win out of Stevenage, Oldham, Tranmere and Walsall. Yes I can see where things are improving but the same problems still exist. Just isn't fucking good enough.

8 of the starting 11 was top at Christmas last season?

Clough wouldn't need to give them much of a dressing down. The group of lads in front of me who must have watched about 5 mins of the game between them did a fantastic job of abusing them every time Walsall had a corner second half.

Most of it completely uncalled for.

1-0 and we thought it was job done good goal from porter but after that we surrendered the ball to them far too often and got what we deserved sign a good player get safe then blood some youngsters and mould the team into one that can keep the ball
